A warm welcome yet again. Despite all the elements winter can provide we had a wonderful stay. Will be returning later in the year to see more of this amazing area.
A site we have enjoyed visiting on a number of occasions, but who on earth designed a barrier with the key pad on the left hand side of the entrance, probably the same person who decided to waste a vast amount of money on unnecessarily replacing all the sites signs with ones of a lighter colour and not as easily read. Where is the common sense in either of these decisions? Over the years I have visited over 80 Club sites and fortunately this is only one that I have seen such a barrier faux pas. Time it was remedied!
First of all I need to say We love this site, BUT it has some problems for Disabled caravaners.
This first problem is, when you get to the caravan park or your coming back to the caravan park, the fob switch is on the left of your car and not the right. This means, if your on your own you have to get out of the car, run round and swipe the fob, then get back ready to drive off before the barrier bar comes back down. If your not fat at walking your screwed. If your in a wheelchair then forget it. Ive come back one time only to have to phone my wife and get her to help with the fob.
The second problem is the use of the “Reserved for Disabled Caravan” sign. When pitch up on a pitch that had the sign up thinking great, a pitch reserved by the toilet block for a disabled caravanned only to find out (after we had pitch up and set the awning up) that it was reserved for an able bodied couple . The warden came over and asked us to take down the awning and move even though I was in a wheelchair as the pitch was booked for someone without a disability. Just before we took the awning down to move, he came back and said it was ok for us to stay on the pitch.
The idea of booking a pitch and having it reserved is a great idea but the site should use one sign for disabled reservations and another simply stating RESERVED.
Please dont get me wrong these are small problems because over all the site is amazing. Great for disabled people (apart from the problems mentioned). Toilets are immaculate and toasty warm. Dog walking is fantastic. Local pub is perfect for a family & dog meal out. Very friendly and serve lovely food( especially the Mix Grill). Nice and close to Bury, even if you have to drive over the worst road in England to get in and out of the site.
We have been her about 10 times now and will be going at least 8 time this year so that should tell you something.
Decided to come for new year and the stay was great as usual. This site is a regular for me and always will be! Great for the dogs with the country park next door and pub just outside the site. 10 mins walk into Bury centre, what more could you ask?
visited again for the new year ,this site is ideal for dog walkers having the country park next door shame i fell on some black ice on new years eve in the park so be mindful even on the made up path it gets slippy ,you can also walk into the town of bury so thats great if you forget to take anything with you and you can catch the bus but ive never done that, spent new years eve in the pub which was nice had a singer on which was better than staying in my camper by myself ,so will be going again in fact just booked a few days there next month ..
Losing track now of how many times we`ve stayed here. It`s always a pleasure. Everything about this site is very good; the wardens, the pitches, the location, the amenities.
It`s so good you`d do well to book well in advance.
If you haven`t been so far what are you waiting for?
Come on!!
