Hidden gem

As we are quite new to the Club, we decided to try out our nearest Club site (30 minutes) for a weekend getaway. (May bank holiday) Tucked away on the outskirts of Bury, but within easy reach of the town, we weren't quite sure what to expect. When we were approaching off the main road (driving through a housing estate) our expectations were a little unsure, but , what a lovely surprise (once we had mastered the cobbled road!!) We arrived at 12, as requested and Once we had pitched up, we set off for a little walk around the area. Not sure how many times we read signs of historical interest , but they really gave an insight to the background of the place. Two pubs within a very short walk of the site and a little tea shop. We decided we wouldn't want to be on the pitches backing onto the pub though, as it does look as though the noise from the pub beer garden/play area could possibly disturb the otherwise peaceful getaway. But if you have a family, the pub is ideal. Lots going on and seems to be a very busy place, which was actually, lovely to watch. The East Lancs railway passes the site so we sat watching the steam trains (it was Thomas the tank weekend) go by. Also the next morning there was a fun run, again a lovely atmosphere . We have decided, it's definitely our weekend getaway site. Plenty of events are planned around the country park, so always something to interest us. Also, open all year round!, What's not to like !

Lovely site with great views

Had a lovely 2 nights here, great walks with a pub and cafe a stone's throw from the entrance. We are new to this club and have been very impressed by the sites we have been on so far. But is there a different level of membership that allows pitches to be reserved? Keep seeing lots of pitches with a cone on? Sometimes the site says full but lots of pitches with a cone on them with no obvious reason for them not being used so found this very odd?

Great stay at Burrs

It’s a nice site with great wardens. The steam train running past the site is also a nice touch. We booked this site so we could go see a concert in Manchester, 20 mins on the tram from Bury which was only £4.80 each for an all day travel card. Just outside the site there is a pub called the Brown cow, we popped in for a drink one night, it has a very bad damp smell in there that put us off having another drink. All in all we will be back, great location with plenty to do in the area.

Great Site

Lovely site with great facilities in a great location with some fantastic walks for the dog along the river. Only negatives is the obvious fondness of those in charge of the site for restrictive negative signs stating the obvious and the copious amounts of litter and dog crap strewn everywhere on the walk into Bury, (although clearly the latter point has nothing to do with the caravan site which was immaculate)

On the way home.

A good site on the way home, but thought it was expensive as it didn't offer anything different to other sites we had visited, maybe it's the proximity to Bury and Manchester.

Very convenient

We often stay on Burrs park for two main reasons 1 The Fabulous Bury market (Wednesday, Friday and Saturday) 2To visit Manchester The site is well placed for both it is also set in beautiful open grassland. The East Lanc railways has platform on the site. The facilities are as one would expect on a club site. Always clean and well proportioned. The Brown Cow pub at the site entrance provides reasonable food and a convivial atmosphere. It can be noisy on summer evenings and weekends as the beer garden and children's playground adjoins the site. The bus stop is a 10 minute walk from the site providing an hourly service into Bury. The bus station adjoined the metro station with frequent services into Manchester. If the weather is to inclement for the bus taxis pick up from the site and cost between £4 and £6. The adjacent parkland is beautiful with heritage of the areas industrial past. Dogs and walkers/joggers are well catered for. There are numerous events held in the park throughout the year..

Convenient for Manchester Events

A bit awkward for those approaching from the South as it is in the North of Manchester. Otherwise not too difficult via the Motorway links. Quite a long cobbled bone-jarring approach. An open site with no hedging, giving the look of a car park. A good adjacent park for dog walkers or joggers. Serviced pitch was dry with gravel even in heavy rain. My reason for this site was simply to attend an event in Manchester. There is a bus stop some distance from the site, but due to the bad and cold weather, preferred to use the car and pay the £11 NCP charge at Manchester Central.

WALKING SHOES ON/LEAVE THE CAR!

Liked that lots of great doggy walks directly from the site; and very easy access to West Penines for some great walking. Lovely cafe just outside the site gates called the Lampost - cooked Lancashire Breakfast - yummy. Facilities spotless. Site quiet even when full. East Lancashrie Steam railway running immediate behind site - and there is a station just outside the site. Only a 20 minute walk into Bury - to the famous market - or go by train!

Excellent site with one of the best warden couples we have ever experienced

In mid March with howling winds and pouring rain we had an excellent break made so much the better by the available facilities and the friendly and helpful wardens. Lots to do in an area that you wouldn't immediately think of as a 'holiday' area. We've been once before and will definitely be back. Having the steam trains running alongside the site also make this a special location.

Excellent for railway buffs!

This is my third visit to the site, mainly due to its proximity to the East Lancs. Railway - there is a small halt about 5 minutes walk from the site! Another lovely visit made especially pleasant by the warm welcome and friendliness of all of the staff who were extremely helpful and a credit to the Club. Due to heavy traffic and possible delays, I called ahead and warden explained that it wouldn't be a problem as long as no later than 2000 (it wasn't!), They also warned that if really late, not to park up in the Country Park car park overnight as may get clamped by local council parking officers! Will be back, thanks.
