Great Location, needs some TLC and Wardens not helpful

Second visit - compared to last year site appears a bit neglected - weeds on pitches and toilet block ( which I understand is to get some some work done) has seen better days! Wardens need some training on customer service - they should remember that Members visit many sites and we know good friendly & helpful service when we get it (and when we don't!)

Nice site

Good site. Grumpy warden when I phoned up to explain that we were stuck in a load of traffic, (loads of accidents)he was very rude and told us to book somewhere else! We tried to do that whilst still trying to get here in time but had no joy. We arrived bang on 8pm. He was a bit grumpy but she was really nice. It took 4hrs to do a 2hr journey! We just walked in and said "don't care what pitch we need a drink" that seemed to sort any earlier grumpiness. The reason for the fewer marks for peace and quiet is because it has a railway line right by the site. This only has diesel and steam trains on during the day so fine for us but if you just want to be by your van all day you may or may not find it annoying. Great indoor market in Bury it just keeps on going. Says it's 1.5 miles from site but it doesn't feel like it. Would certainly return but for longer than a weekend. There is no need to go to Manchester in our opinion. Bury has it all!

Comment from the Club

Thanks for your review and I'm sorry you felt disappointed by the warden's advice on the phone. The reason for suggesting an alternative site for the night was to ensure you weren't without somewhere to stay that evening, should you have arrived after 8pm. The site doesn't have a late night arrivals area, and we understand that traffic can cause a stressful journey so we make this suggestion to try and take any pressure off aiming to arrive by a certain time.

We're glad you enjoyed your stay and we'll look forward to welcoming you back to the site.

Another excellent stop at Burrs

Had another weekend stop here in early September and once again, have nothing but praise for the site and everyone involved in running it! The location is excellent and I use my bike to tour around the area which has plenty to offer. Everyone is friendly and helpful and cannot be praised highly enough. Highly recommended!

Refurb needed

Just spent 6 nights on this site with grand kids, I was greeted from a friendly couple in the office. Yes I agree it is overpriced so not be returning better sites to go to. Clean shower block but in need for a refit very shabby. The following day I watched one of the wardens who was cutting the grass shout unprofessional at a old man who had parked his car on the grass this was disgusting to see I was 4 Caravan’s away but could hear every word not a very nice man and in my eyes a bully, not a people’s person and in the wrong job. A couple of days later the old man was telling my husband about it he told the warden not to shout at him.

Comment from the Club

Many thanks for the review. The site staff have been in touch as they work hard to ensure everyone has a wonderful time at their site and assist members where they can. The site staff was trying to stop the gentleman driver from driving his car and caravan onto the grass as he was sinking rapidly. The grass was very boggy after at least 3 weeks heavy rain. The Gentleman had a motormover so our site staff wanted to help him and ensure he did not put himself in a potentially dangerous postition.

Great for grandchildren

This was our second trip to burrs, We picked this site specifically as it was our first trip away with the grandchildren and is reasonably close to where we live so there's no chance of them becoming bored on the journey. The welcome was lovely and warm and having the heritage railway line adjacent to the campsite is perfect. The site is well-placed for the steam railway line with the adjacent station with the added bonus that club members get a discount (with the exception when they are have special event days) The site feels quite and spacious and the facilities are good, and were kept at good standard. we found the staff to be very helpful knowledgeable and nothing felt as if it was too much There is plenty to do in the immediate area from the park to the local pub with a large beer garden and play area and Bury is within easy reach It is a site that I would happily use again

Great site, lots to see in the local area

Stayed @ Burrs during extreme weather. Hottest day of the year one day then a months rain the next! It's a lovely little site. I found the wardens friendly and knowledgeable and whilst the toilets aren't fancy they were clean and tidy and the showers fine which is good enough for me. Even if the weather isnt ideal there is lots to do in the local area. Indoors - Bury Market, Trafford Centre, National Football Museum, Museum of Science and Industry, The Sandcastle water park, Blackpool. Outdoors - walks in Burrs Park and in the surrounding hills Brown Cow is a little scruffy, its got a decent sized beer garden with kids play stuff but there was lots of litter and butts on the ground, too tempting for our puppy!

Our recent visit

Visited the site recently. Toilet block looking clean and tidy but desperately needs refurbishment. There are rusty screws holding the boards to the wall and shower heads not working correctly. There are no hot and cold badges on the taps, and hand dryers fitted over a radiator is asking for trouble. The radiators are rusty and look terrible. The wardens on this site are not dog friendly. Responsible dog owners know the rules and do not need reminding at every visit!

Terrible wardens

Been here a few times never had a problem till I came this time on checking in I was confronted with rules and regulations with the bad attitude that came with it lots of orders on signs around the site must not tell anybody the code for the toilet like there’s any one that does not know it.. Still a lovely site just the wardens on arrival kemp my distance from them while here I did read up on the site on trip advisor and does not look like I’m the only one.

Great site

Stayed for a couple of nights on this site as a try out for 1st time time taking our 2 dogs in the motorhome. Great site, kept clean and good facilities. Really liked the full width motorhome drainage at the service point. Site, local pub and the park next door are all dog friendly. The wardens are friendly and helpful and the site is a credit to them. 2 nights were not long enough so we will be returning for longer soon.
