Great for grandchildren

This was our second trip to burrs, We picked this site specifically as it was our first trip away with the grandchildren and is reasonably close to where we live so there's no chance of them becoming bored on the journey. The welcome was lovely and warm and having the heritage railway line adjacent to the campsite is perfect. The site is well-placed for the steam railway line with the adjacent station with the added bonus that club members get a discount (with the exception when they are have special event days) The site feels quite and spacious and the facilities are good, and were kept at good standard. we found the staff to be very helpful knowledgeable and nothing felt as if it was too much There is plenty to do in the immediate area from the park to the local pub with a large beer garden and play area and Bury is within easy reach It is a site that I would happily use again

Great site, lots to see in the local area

Stayed @ Burrs during extreme weather. Hottest day of the year one day then a months rain the next! It's a lovely little site. I found the wardens friendly and knowledgeable and whilst the toilets aren't fancy they were clean and tidy and the showers fine which is good enough for me. Even if the weather isnt ideal there is lots to do in the local area. Indoors - Bury Market, Trafford Centre, National Football Museum, Museum of Science and Industry, The Sandcastle water park, Blackpool. Outdoors - walks in Burrs Park and in the surrounding hills Brown Cow is a little scruffy, its got a decent sized beer garden with kids play stuff but there was lots of litter and butts on the ground, too tempting for our puppy!

Our recent visit

Visited the site recently. Toilet block looking clean and tidy but desperately needs refurbishment. There are rusty screws holding the boards to the wall and shower heads not working correctly. There are no hot and cold badges on the taps, and hand dryers fitted over a radiator is asking for trouble. The radiators are rusty and look terrible. The wardens on this site are not dog friendly. Responsible dog owners know the rules and do not need reminding at every visit!

Terrible wardens

Been here a few times never had a problem till I came this time on checking in I was confronted with rules and regulations with the bad attitude that came with it lots of orders on signs around the site must not tell anybody the code for the toilet like there’s any one that does not know it.. Still a lovely site just the wardens on arrival kemp my distance from them while here I did read up on the site on trip advisor and does not look like I’m the only one.

Great site

Stayed for a couple of nights on this site as a try out for 1st time time taking our 2 dogs in the motorhome. Great site, kept clean and good facilities. Really liked the full width motorhome drainage at the service point. Site, local pub and the park next door are all dog friendly. The wardens are friendly and helpful and the site is a credit to them. 2 nights were not long enough so we will be returning for longer soon.

Return Visit

Our first visit to Burrs Country Park was about five years ago so we knew what to expect. Since that visit there has been a degree of upgrading with all pitches now on hardstandings which suits us. Included in that upgrading was I understand more service pitches. Of more interest to me as a motorhomer was the new open grill motorhome waste point. I did notice several longer motorhomes had to still lift the drain covers as they could not position their drain taps over the grill because of a fence at the back of the service point. I didn't quite understand the previous comments about the toilet block as it seemed perfectly up to standard and access was via a keypad which should prevent none visitors getting in? If you go to this site at the weekend don't be surprised to find some noise because of either the Brown Cow pub or events in the Country Park but it all adds to the atmosphere. It was good to see the new station on the steam railway with almost direct access from the site. I understand the Club helped finance this so well done the Club. Still an hourly bus service into Bury from near the site.

Nice stopover on way home.

Stayed on this site for three nights on our way home from Scotland. Other members have found issues with the quality of the pitches, grass and facilities. Many of the pitches now have new chippings, and the grass is of an acceptable length, so complaints have been listened to and addressed. Yes the shower and toilet facilities show their age, but they are absolutely clean and working properly and up to the usual club standard. We had a lovely stay with the bonus of the two for one offer to members on the East Lancs. Railway. Will stay again if the occasion arises.

Location Fab, Facilities ..... no so!

Absolutely fantastic location, added bonus being the trains from the East Lancs Railway that pass close to the site - quite a large site but felt very quiet considering. The only downfall are the toilet and shower blocks which are looking quite shabby and dilapidated. This in no way reflects the hard work the wardens do to keep them clean, but they are in need of refurbishing ASAP. Some of the pitches too are looking very old and worn. On the whole, a great site to visit but we won't be back until the facilities are updated.

What a disapointment.

Have heard so much about this site so decided to give it ago.. yes lovely location steam train a bonus ... Bury market brilliant Millatry museum really good ,but my what a state the site is ,we have been on many site done the Scottish tour but never seen the grass on any of them as long as it is here and so many pitches with weeds on in some places nearly up to the red/white number pegs looks until kept. ,

Comment from the Club:

Thank you for your review. The site staff have been in touch as they work hard to ensure the site is well maintained for members to enjoy the site. They are aware the grass is rather long but unfortunately there has been nothing but rain for the last 2 weeks. As such they have not been able to get onto the grass to cut it as it is just too wet and would only be ripped out of the ground leaving bare muddy patches. However please be assured as soon as the weather improves the site will be maintained to the usual high standard.
