A 2 night stay at this lovely site. access road is old fashioned cobbles, so do not bomb along, unless you want everything to fall out of the cupboards.
Upon arrival had to queue at gate to get in, not a problem, but staff attitude left a lot to be desired, with a shouted DO NOT TAILGATE through the intercom, even though we was not moving and the access gate was down. Once in reception, the lady behind the counter was rude, never experienced this at any other sites before, so to say we was shocked was an understatement.
Picked a pitch, reversed onto it, as per the diagram, for another staff member to come over and say all wrong and to move, when I said, I have parked as per the diagram, the comment was " I will tell you how to park, not a diagram".
The site itself is lovely, with the local railway on the boundary, so nice to sit and watch the steam train moving backwards and forwards.
Go out of the entrance and there is a lovely ice cream shop, highly recommended, we had 2 visits. Nice pub also there.
Country park has a nice walk along the river, and if you walk far enough (not too far to be fair), you can get access right to the river edge, for a paddle, grandson loved it, and he learnt how to skim stones, also saw a dad and lad fishing there at the same time further round the corner.
Got a taxi into Bury (£7 each way), to go to the market, can highly recommend a visit to the market, as well as a walk round the town
Other than the staff, I would highly recommend this site, and if a different team there would not hesitate to go back.
Visit 8th August
This was our first visit to this site. It was a nightmare to get through the country park to the campsite it was so busy. The site is very open and was blowing a gale and the toilet block only allowed two people which unlike other sites who allow three was a bit of a pain considering how many vans were sited. I think it ll be good for families because it’s so open you can keep an eye on your kids but not for us.

First stay...not the last
Stayed over over a weekend 7th - 9th August and overall the site is very good, I would highly recommend.
Right next to the country park it is a very quiet site (though I did notice that the pub garden was busy and noisy late on Saturday night when I walked the dog so if you have a pitch next to this it may be an issue?)
Site is as clean as you would expect, large pitches (was very surprised about that but this was our first visit to a CMC site). Though have to admit I did wonder why they mowed the lawn on a busy weekend??!!
They operated a wristband system re the showers and only two could use at one time which was understandabe...but a pain.
Country Park is great..lovely wallks with the dog and the pub just outside site is ok...food was ok and the garden was very busy...absolutely no social distancing so if that is a concern stay away!!
Have to say whislt is isnt the sites issue the road to and from the site is awful...from coming off the main road all the way through to the site.
As I say, overall its a good site and we have already booked to go back...
King of the Mini Tractor
Someone need's to go out and cut the grass weekly. Or if you are going here then take your own lawn mower so that you have a nice tidy pitch, we will be doing next time. Looks like the place has not been mowed in weeks. Then suddenly on a busy Friday (why not on a quiet day) they decided to start cutting the grass to be fair it did take then 2 days! It didn't get like that in a day!
Sadly Mr Grumpy is back. Rules are Rules with some new rules, gone are the do not let your dog wee on the fence to, Stay away from the fence. So some new rules, don't arrive early (Blocking the main road to the site is the new norm, don't take your dogs (they don't like dogs) unless he likes you, don't put your wind break on the grass (prison sentence for that), in fact do not enjoy yourself (punishable by death)
Now to the toilets, I understand the covid19 restrictions but 2 people only in the gents? come on? But if your a lady then grumpy they allow's 3 people? sexist? s the ladies massive compared to the gents? not surprised with this rule from Mr Grumpy. The amount of people on the site complaining about his appalling attitude is unbelievable. We find it amusing now and very entertaining watching him march around or drive his little tractor around the site looking for his next victim, to bully, harass and upset.
"Power corrupts absolute power corrupts absolutely" king of the mini tractor!
Great location
We arrived on Sunday 19/07 in the afternoon. We had never been to this site before so were not expecting the problems getting into the site!! We had cars on both sides of the drive way, cars coming towards us even tho we couldn’t turn around. There is nothing on the info about this, basically be careful when driving down the main road towards the campsite which is right at the end of the main road. I couldn’t believe how arrogant some of the people were when they could see we had a caravan on the back of our car! The wardens were ok, very friendly but looked very stressed due to the numbers they were receiving on that day. One of the wardens understood about our problems getting into the site and have spoken to the police about this but nothing has happened. We asked for the family room key and was advised it wasn’t open! but in her second breath said she would think about it. My wife then went back to the office once we pitched and was advised no to the key. We have a young toddler and would have been useful to use the family room! The next day I went over to the reception and was given the key! overall really nice campsite but the main road in is very tight at peak times with people parking on both sides of the road and not giving way to people trying to get into the campsite.
I understand the wardens are under a lot of pressure at the moment with the corona virus changed and maybe at the time of me asking for the family room key things were very stressful. I would recommend this site as it’s brilliant to get to different areas. Lovely to walk in the country park, unfortunately the steam train wasn’t running when we were there but we would like to go back for this.

Post lockdown outing!
Finally we managed to book and get away having had our March break cancelled by CV19..
We booked for 5 nights Sun to Fri for what is a reasonable price on a serviced pitch (water, grey water disposal, electricity hook up and TV antenna point) which makes for less social contact!
Access to the site is through a housing estate road and signposted to Burrs Country Park so that's easy enough to find - however beware the very poor road surface and raised hump on min roundabout. As we arrived Sunday afternoon the country park was very very busy and people park on the access road which reduces the road to one lane only with nowhere to gonif you meet oncoming cars. Size is an advantage here and I just waited until they moved for me. Police have been called to try and sort this but Bury Council could do with enforcement as it's their land
Arriving to the site there are 2 sets of barriers. The first you call the wardens on and they raise (passenger side of car) the second is outside the office as is normal. Once onsite your barrier card opens both sets.
Check in and payment very easy given CV19 with absolutely no worries. Find a pitch as normal then go back to pick up cards.
Toilets are accessed by code lock and gents allows 2 occupants at a time ladies 3. All facilities are very clean and cleaned regularly through the day with hand sanitizer available in each door way
Site is tidy with pitches having been regravelled and all appear level
Even the notorious Mr Grumpy warden really wasn't. - ,abide by the rules it's simple. Mind your speed too as we observed many people thinking 5 mph needs second or third gear. It's walking pace for a reason
Sadly the ELR was closed during our stay - the station is on site - walk through the lane in front of The Brown Cow PH - good real ale and food here so worth a try also has a large beer garden -no children after 930 in the bar.
Hope this helps someone -we would go back but probably not for a week again.
Post Lockdown Visit
Arrived Sunday after the mad rush on re-opening day. All well organised. Check - in via office because we had vouchers. Only one customer in office at a time, screens at the desk, easy process for recording and destroying vouchers.
On finding a pitch, returned to office for key fob which had been sterilised and staff explained the toilet block access system.
Only 2 allowed in at a time controlled by ‘swimming pool’ type rubber bands. These are in a small, Milton filled, container outside the toilet block. If there are no bands then that should indicate the 2 spots inside are filled and you should wait outside. Doesn’t always work though because some were forgetting and walking in anyway and others weren’t returning the bands. If 2 people are having a shower and someone else wants the toilet they are in for a long wait - we used our own facilities.
Hand gel dispenser outside office and toilets but none at the service points so take your own.
Very enjoyable couple of days and very glad to be back.
The Brown Cow at the side has a large and popular beer garden and the landlord has erected a very large marquee type structure. Tables available for booking inside for food - no ‘drinks only’ until food service has stopped and when we were there the pub closed at 9pm.
Arrived late on Friday
We arrived late Friday pm 11-15 December 2019, terrible weather & traffic over the M62 and phoned ahead to apologise, the staff were very helpful and understanding, they stayed a bit later while we groped around in the wind rain and DARK! so we could let them know our pitch details. The facilities were excellent, the standard you would expect. Access to Bury market is very good walk, bus or train in summer. Wifi for free is weak and distance a real choker, but it is a very small glass with lots of straws in it and open to hacking so I don't us it, just have my data topped up on my phone so I don't have to blame the site for no internet access. A great position and the pub on site is excellent with wholesome well priced food. Even in mid December a good clean standard even in atrocious weather, puddles? really?
lovely site despite the weather
stayed here over the weekend lovely site but some pitches need renovating just fresh stones on
the only draw back is front barrier fob system on opposite side and when there only person you have to jump out the car fob it an jump back in before barrier closed very warm welcome from the wardens
Choose your pitch wisely
Arrived just before 12 and was warmly greeted by the Warden. Looked around the site and as others have mentioned many of the pitches looked 'tired', however it could be seen that many had been refurbished also. These 'tired' pitches during the weekend became prone to puddles, although it has to be said the weather two weeks previous had been dreadful. Found a newly laid pitch and set up. Facilities were good and clean, and tried a walk round the country park, must be nice in the dry weather. Went to the Brown Cow in the evening, and had a nice meal at a nice price, Good to see a busy pub. Walked into Bury, about 35m to the Market and the Transport museum, and on the way back stopped in the coffee shop, again very well kept and good service. Only down side is WiFi. As a Silver site I expected to be be able to join and read emails etc, however couldn't get a signal. We were right on the edge of the site next to the railway line, and found I could only get a signal by the toilet block and towards the shop. When mentioned to the warden I was told 'it maybe because of high usage'. Now I'm no expert , but I thought that as a Silver site this shouldnt be an issue. Am now wondering if we should have bought the years CMC subscription!
