and we just cannot fault it, this year 2021, we've got rid of the grotbags wardens who have been replaced by smiley happy wardens who really are lovely to talk to and very helpful. The whole site is lovely and very well kept, topped by having a pub almost on site, steam railway, river walks to garden centres and the best sunday lunch at the Hamer Arms pub, walks into Bury to the famous Bury market and everything Bury has to offer.
If you like roughing it then this ain't for you, if you like the opposite then I see no reason this year why you will not love this site. We will go back time and time again as its just great.
Well run and very clean.
We made two seperate overnight stops here to and from the North.
The standard of facilities is very good and cleanliness excellent - reading other reviews we did not encounter any dog related issues, all dogs seen were on leads and under control. At night it was surprisingly quiet.
There are some pitches which back onto the Brown Cow pub and with COVID restrictions in place there was a little noise of music and people in the garden.
We had no problems with access to this site. Following the directions given (you have to pay attention!) we found the access fine, but in high season it might prove difficult if the cobbled road is busy with park visitors.
The only downside to our visit here was getting through Bury which is busy and traffic jams were frequent.
Frequent visitors
We're frequent visitors to Burrs as we have family in the area. The steam train never gets old and we just love this site. Yes there are rules in line with all the C&MC sites but we always know what to expect when we arrive. The standard of facilities is very good and cleanliness excellent. I'm disheartened by the number of negative dog related reviews here, generally directed at the campers themselves. I have to say that the only dog noise we have ever been aware of was coming from the pub area or once a farm in the distance towards the Shuttleworth side, never from dogs on the site. Our dog is walked on a short lead and exercised either in the dog area or in the country park outside. The access is not for the faint hearted. The cobbled road on a sunny afternoon when teeming with visitors to the country park and pub can be a pinch point. There is quite a dip in the cobbles as you round the corner after the bridge so take it extra slow. We have visited the Brown Cow pub but it's not really somewhere we frequent very often and there can be quite a bit of noise from the pub garden in the evenings. Later arrivals (before 8pm) will find the pitches around the pub garden tend to be taken last! We have found ourselves in one of these but the noise didn't put us off too much (by bed time all was quiet). Definitely recommend this site.

Ideal base for walking. Stayed 12/04/21 for 4 nights.
This site far exceeded my expectations with its location and walking options. Well set out, nice facilities block and lovely friendly wardens. I put my face mask on when entering the toilet block but not everyone did. Come on people, you don’t need a sign on every building telling you this. The rule is face mask on when entering a building; that’s any inside space.

Relaxing site and area.
The site is clean and well maintained. It was our first stay on this site. The wardens were helpful and had a welcome sense of humour. The local park and river provided a nice place for a walk. There is a pub adjacent to the site although we did not visit it on this occasion. Covid restrictions in force at the time of our stay meant that the pub was outside service only. We were unaware of any disturbances due to the pub during our stay and therefore deem it to be a positive option for future stays. Even better, there was an ice cream shop next to the pub. You can see that I am still a child when it comes to sweet things!
One suggestion/request is that members should adhere to the earliest arrival time of 1pm and the latest departure time of midday. The access to the site is not great (maybe even classed as poor) and it would be a disaster if someone was late leaving combined with a number of caravans or motorhomes all trying to 'sneak in' early. Be considerate of others and to the wardens and stick to the designated times. This did impact on our decision one day as to if we should we leave the site in our car to visit local shops. We were concerned that we would have to queue in a long line of campers waiting to book in onsite upon our return.
I can recommend this site to all if you like a quiet site in a very pleasant location but one that has options/facilities nearby.
Dogs being a nuisance
This site is lovely and we love staying here
Site is spotless and well maintained with fabulous friendly wardens
BUT .. Inconsiderate dog owners!!!!
Dogs being left to roam round with no lead or restraint and cock their legs up
On other people’s awnings, cushions ,tyres etc
Dogs yapping and barking with no response from owner who appear oblivious
Dogs on these half mile extending leads whilst the owners are ignorant as to what their darling 4 legged pets are doing at the other end of these ridiculous extending leads
Really should be more rules regarding dogs
Great but some dog owners ruin the peace
I actually detest staying on this site but need to do so once a year to have my van serviced
nearby, every time I have been here we have been disturbed by dogs.
The site would be wonderful but for some inconsiderate Caravan and Motorhome dog owners that have no respect for other folks right to peace and quiet . Why can’t these owners understand that their dogs constant barking is not everyone’s cup of tea...soooo irritating .
COVID-19 staycation
After reading some negative reviews on TripAdvisor I was unsure if I had booked the right place for my family.
But after arrival that had disappeared.
The grounds are well kept.
Clean and well maintained facilities. Yes, a policy of 2 in, at the toilet and shower block. The downside was that the toddler room was not in use, due to COVID.
Friendly wardens.
The park was peaceful and quiet. I’m guessing due to the time of the year.
The caravan park is surrounded by the beautiful Burrs Country Park.
A great play ground just a walk away. Enough to keep the littles happy.
We will be definitely be returning next year.
Great staff. Unruly campers.
This is a beautiful site, amazing wardens who are so friendly and helpful. They have a hell of a job on their hands during COVID. People are clearly holidaying with people outside of their household in separate caravans. As we’ve been placed in Tier 3 restrictions this is not allowed. Too many people using the toilet block when only 2 are allowed. Do these lovely people (the wardens) a break and conform to the few things we’ve been asked to do. I would’ve given 5 stars for everything but was disappointed people are clearly not following guidelines.
What a wonderful Weekend Away
This was our first visit to Burrs and we will be returning again. The site was lovely and well kept and in a lovely location. We visit the local pub for a meal which was ok, and took the opportunity to go on the steam train that runs from the site to visit some of the local area which was great fun (note you have to book 24 hours in advance of travelling due to the CoVid restrictions). We took a walk around the park which was busy especially in the "damp conditions" we had for our weekend.
The wardens were great and very helpful and we were able to change our pitch requirements when we arrived. I would highly recommend it and hope to visit again next year.
