We’ve recently stayed for 9 nights over August Bank Holiday at this site which is local to us and we’ve had a fabulous time. The wardens are very welcoming and keep the site to a high standard. The site is wonderfully located in the heart of the Country Park and near to the market town of Ramsbottom and the larger town of Bury.
Did not live far away from here, but attended to visit an event on The East Lancs Railway ,so glad we dis it was perfect in every way.Great place ,local station , local pubs and plenty to do all within 15 mins off the motorway .Staff great lovely and clean site. Would certainly go again.
We stayed here as we were travelling on the Flying Scotsman.
Excellent access to the steam trains and our pitch backed onto the train-line so we had excellent views as the Flying Scotsman steamed past.
The site in in a country park so there are walks/cycle routes as well as parts of the sculpture trail.
Comments have been made about lack of activities, well it depends on what you want to do. We did our homework before booking and were very happy with the site.
Comments have been made about members “cutting through pitches. This did not seem to be a problem to me and if someone walks on the grass between my hard standing and the next I smile politely and say hello. I don’t consider this “my bit” (many walked across the grass to get a photo of the flying Scotsman)
Outside the control of the site but worth a mention:-
The brown cow pub stopped serving food at 5.45 on a bank holiday in August (a tad early we felt)and the lamplight cafe did not serve coffee?
Would we return - yes
Couple in our 60s (but young at heart)

Had a lovely time here, perfect location, sadly the stay was spoilt by people cutting across pitches, although the staff do have notices up asking guests not to do this, we have been members for nearly 30 years, and feel the standard of the members has dropped, every club has rules, but people don’t seem to want to abide by them any longer, apart from this we did have a couple of wet days, which weren’t a problem, but don’t understand why the warden had to cut grass in these far from perfect conditions, what made it worse was the tractor didn’t have a collection box for the cuttings, consequently wet grass was everywhere, the facilities were a mess as were peoples awnings and outfits. The same patches of grass were mown , and on the return of the other set of wardens, they went over the same areas, although it was clear to see what had been done. apart from this we would return as it is a very lovely spot.
This was our first visit to Burrs. We were looking for a stopover travelling south from Scotland and wanted to try somewhere new. Let me be clear that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the site. It is well maintained by friendly and helpful wardens. It has a surprisingly rural feel given its urban setting, plus it has steam trains running past the site.
However, for us it is too far away, and awkward to get from the M6, when travelling from the north to use as a stopover. There are more convenient options. Reviews are always subjective, aren’t they? But we didn’t find much of interest in the area, apart from the steam railway. Burrs Country Park is pleasant enough for a gentle walk, but nothing to write home about. Bury has plenty of amenities, but its charms were lost on us. It just seemed to be another busy town, with nothing of great interest. I know people rave about the indoor market, but the last thing we want to do on holiday is go shopping.
In the past three months we have stayed on twelve sites in The Highlands, the East Coast of Scotland, the Lake District and the Cotswolds. I’m afraid if we were rating theses sites, Burrs would be number twelve. Again, nothing wrong with the site itself, the area just doesn’t have what we’re looking for. I am sure for many they will have a perfectly pleasant stay.
Stayed here as my son loves trains. A fantastic site. Ideal for wheelchair users, the grounds are flat and level with easy access to Burr's Country Park. Disabled toilet and shower facilities really clean and equipment had been well thought out. The train station also has ace for Wheelchairs to board the train easily.
Most if all excellent customer service from the lovely friendly wardens. We ran out of gas part way through cooking (as is always the case). The club shop had shut but the warden sold us more gas even bringing it to our caravan and taking the old one back. Absolutely fantastic!!
A lovely stay and hope to revisit in the future.
A little bit of a problem on arrival with little support for a new camper
We arrived at 19:50 to be reprimaneded for not getting there earlier (they had to cash up etc etc)
The site was good though with adequate facilties. It would just have been nice to have had some welcoming words
A lovely, clean site with excellent facilities. Met at reception and given very clear instructions and a map of the site and allowed to chose our own pitch.
Fully serviced pitch with 16 amp electrics and drinking water. Ample motorhome service points around the site.
Located next to a country park with many walking trails. Minutes away from shops and easy access to the motorway system.
As it is a family site, not ideal for older couples.
This is an unexpected gem, tucked down in the leafy Irwell river valley but approached by a 1960s housing estate.
A lovely site with lots of interest - the Irwell sculpture walk, post-industrial archaeology, walks through the valley, the steam train line and, only 30 minutes up the road at the Haworth Art Gallery in Accrington, the largest collection of Tiffany glass outside of the USA - who knew?
The site itself is very well run, squeaky clean and with lots of choice for different sorts of views from your pitch.
Thank you so much for two days of a work-related stay that managed to feel like a holiday.
Had a very good few days staying at Burrs CP site. Good weather always helps but so does friendly hard working wardens , thanks guys great job. Not the clubs fault but boy its not great riding a bike over those cobbles coning/going to the site whish a cycle path could be made. Like many have posted always a pleasure to see the old steam trains.
