Excellent location for exploring surrounding area

We stayed here for 11 nights at the beginning of August 2021 and had a wonderful time. We had an awning with us, so we couldn't have one of the loch side pitches as it would obstruct the views for others behind us. We knew this when we booked and consulted the site map beforehand to find out which pitches would give us a minimally disrupted view. On arrival, we found two of the three pitches we'd highlighted were vacant. An hour later we were all set up and sat outside our awning with a glass of red enjoying a beautiful view! Facilities were great - very clean and sanitised regularly. The wardens were extremely friendly and attentive, always ready to help and wearing a smile from morning 'til night! The location was perfect for exploring the surrounding areas of Fort William, Glencoe and further afield to Mallaig. The Corran Ferry was a few minutes walk away and free to foot passengers. We made two trips on it: once turning right when we got off, and then turning left on our second visit to explore that side of the island. Thoroughly recommended. We will no doubt revisit this site again after having a great holiday there.

Beautiful location, lots to do nearby

This site is on the edge of Loch Linnhe, so amazing views to be had. Great location for visiting Fort William and surrounding area. Facilities are older but well taken care of and kept clean. Would stay again

Great location, perfect for breaking up a long drive

Well kept, small site, with lots of space to walk along beach. Unsurpassed location. Beach access is 10 metres from the lochside pitches, and without obstruction. You choose your pitch on arrival. Usual regime of first come first served (gets frontline pitch) Beach is fully tidal, so cleaned every day by loch linnhe. Which keeps the pet element hygienic. We stayed here on way back from Ullapool, first picking up everything required for a family of four in Fort William. Kids play park was shut due to building, but kids loved the beach just fine. Pitch access was very good. We were in a motorhome, and just drove straight on to pitch #22. Put up the table & chairs in 1 minute and were having lunch by the loch immediately. Unbeatable really. Facilities were very clean & motorhome service point had everything required in 1 place. (Once we found the CDP (door with new sign on was open, and couldn't be seen from road at all)) Doh! Would stay here again without hesitation.

Fantastic stay can’t wait to return

Just returned from a weekend at Bunree. What a beautiful site. Don’t think you will beat it for scenery. The pitches are all big and despite being full, the site didn’t feel that busy and was really peaceful. Saw a couple of reviews saying the toilet block needs to be updated. There is some truth to that and it is a little bit dated, however was spotlessly clean and the showers were powerful and hot, so I’m not sure what else you need. The site is only a couple of hours from our address, so I think this will become a regular site for us for short weekend breaks where you don’t want to waste time travelling miles. I actually can’t wait for a return trip.

Very Disappointed

On arrival we were told that we could have a choice of three pitches and once we had picked one to let them know which one we had chosen. The site seemed to be spread out in a very random way but we chose a pitch and began to set up our awning, The hard standing for the awning was terrible and basically made of MOT stone (like crushed rocks) but with large rocks exposed on the surface, this made pegging the awning down virtually impossible. After a short while and a dozen bent heavy duty pegs we finally got the awning pegged down. Then came the next problem..... the rocks all over the surface made it impossible to put the carpets down due to them sticking up all over the place which meant our awning couldn't be used for sitting and eating in for the 2 weeks we were there, simply unacceptable for the cost of the holiday! The facilities were immaculate and cleaned on a regular basis and likewise the recycling facilities were also disinfected and cleaned regularly too. Now for my main serious issue...... we chose our pitch on the road that leads through the top of the site which turned out to be like a mini racetrack with cars and campervans well exceeding the 5mph speed limit, when I approached the warden to complain about this I was asked how I expected him to police this issue!!! His attitude towards this serious health and safety concern was unacceptable and left me very frustrated. The simple thing is that this site needs a serious injection of cash to install proper hard standing pitches and more importantly speed ramps to be installed around the whole facility before a child or a dog walker is run over. My next issue is that caravans with awnings are not permitted on the Lochside due to them blocking the views for the rest of the site which is understandable BUT campervans with canopies with tables & chairs, washing lines and all the equipment taking up as much room as a small awning is acceptable. I find this rule simply unbelievable.. Fort William has plenty of shops with bars, restaurants and take-aways to cater for everyone but the lack of things to do around the site has put us off, you have to travel quite a distance for the local shop or pub. We did have a beautiful day visiting Mull and the small island of Iona being stunningly magnificent although it was an early morning to catch the 3 ferries but well worth the planning. Overall our stay at Bunree was quite disappointing after such a long journey to get there from the midlands and on reflection there are other sites in that location that I would try in the future, we love the highlands and islands of Scotland and will certainly return to that area.

It’s all about the location

We recently stayed at the Bunree site for 4 days of perfect weather and thoroughly enjoyed this sites outstanding location. Close to both Gelncoe and Ben Nevis the site is unbeatable for views and in our case cycling. The nearby ferry is a real bonus to escape further and the road to Glenfiddan and beyond worth exploring. Our only comment relates to the lack of on on-site small shop for any last minute or forgotten essentials which would make it almost perfect, bearing in in mind the nearest supermarket is a good 12 miles round. Apart from that with good weather it’s impossible not to relax and breath.

Cut short

We arrived after very long drive but I have to say the last few miles where the worst if we ever returned it would be via a different route the A81? Is a nightmare but that's not the clubs fault. We had been to this site years ago but I was quite shocked at how rundown the shower block was considering the price you pay but the views where amazing. We where booked in for 5 nights but on the 2nd day hubby went walking/running up Ben Nevis it's something he has done many times but on this occasion he had a nasty fall and we left on day 2 a very nice white haired lady (sorry don't know her name) sorted everything out poor hubby had 4 broken ribs punctured lung and collapsed lung and as a doctor told me we are very lucky he is still here. He says he will return but I'm not of the same opinion because I know he will want to run Ben Nevis again I thought he would of been put off but no. All in all our holiday turned into a nightmare but that wasn't anyone's fault.

Return trip to the Highlands

Check in smooth and efficient, given a list of available pitches which saved endless tours around the site. Off the lead dog walk is excellent on the loch side. Site very busy for obvious reasons. Lots of local visitor attractions to choose from. Very memorable trip to Mallaig on the Jacobite. Stunning scenery. Will definitely return, a favourite spot.

Location top, shame about the wardens

Just spent 6 nights (left early as was booked for 7). Location is great. This is our 2nd time here, and I don’t know what has happened but the wardens seemed rather grumpy and disappointed they were actually working. We found them to be honestly rude when you asked any questions, and as for the facilities, well it seemed that the less they could do the better it was for them. It was the talk of the site whilst we were there. Meanwhile as stated the location is great as you can get into fort William easily, we cycled which is ok if you are confident. We also took the MH. The walk to the waterfalls is lovely. Please note there is no playground available at present. Will I return, honestly not sure other sites available if you are passing through.

Beautiful friendly site

Second time here. We stayed for 5 nights at the end of June. Staff were friendly and helpful. Stunning views at the beach. Facilities are very good if a bit dated. Very clean. Location is great for walks to inchree falls, also the nearby ferry to Ardgour. Also good cycling path down towards Ballachulish and B roads. This is probably our favourite site to stay at.
