Location good handy for anything you want to do,shop, hillwalk, dogwalk, short walk to the pub and amazing waterfalls etc. facilities good with hot water showers, views overlooking Loch Linnhe absolutely beautiful, peaceful site kept immaculate by helpful friendly wardens just wish we had booked for much longer than 4 nights. Have stayed on 15 caravan club sites in Scotland and this is definitely the best so far.
Lovely location and good facilities. My only issue is the level of the pitches, they are often sloping for and aft but also sideways, making it difficult to get a motorhome level. When putting in pitches does the Club not take the levels into account? Based on the site fees I expect to have a level pitch at least one way anyway.
Just about, refers only to the atrocious weather. The site is easy to find, is quite open and as such you do feel as if you are on top of each other although the pitches are well spaced out. There are no natural barriers breaking the site up but having said that it is a great site in a wonderful location. The views are stunning (see my review on Altnaharra) and this is Scotland at its best albeit most of the time we were their we couldn't see across the loch for the rain and the mist! No shops nearby but Fort William only a short drive away with lots to keep you occupied. There are a couple of pubs/restaurants a short walk from the site but I didn't venture into any again due to the weather. There are lots of great walks from the site and the dog walking around the site is good. Once again very helpful and friendly wardens. One point to be aware of is that is if you end up in the middle of the site your views are badly obscured by other units so every day when people leave there is a mad rush to move to the front and probably more so when the weather is nice.
Spend four days here in May and loved it, the walks just minutes from the site are great and lots of them! Not to far from Fort William and lots to do there and lots of shopping to. Great site a must visit on your travels, my only niggle was when we arrived was at night and the sign at the bottom of the road wasnt great to find or see. Watch out for it and dont drive past it like we did!
Another week here with the worst weather we have ever had. In spite of this, sitting in the van overlooking the Loch is wonderful. Lots of rare birds go by e.g. great northern diver, and the surroundings are full of flowers. It is a good location for visiting other wildlife sites and the Corran ferry is only 1 mile away to visit the Ardnamurchan Pennsular. The site is very well kept and is very peaceful.
If this is not the most beautiful location for a Caravan Club site then please tell me where we should go next!! A brilliant centre for exploring the West Coast and particularly Fort William, a few days was not enough so we will be back. Everything on the site was as you'd expect but more and lastly if there is a "warden of the year" award we want to nominate Linda for her total smiling commitment to customer care!!!
This has to be one of the most spectacular settings of any site on the network. Set on the shores of Loch Lhinne and views of the mountains of the Knoydart peninsular across the water. The site itself is of the usual high standard you would expect of the club, but in addition almost every pitch (the ones directly behind the toilet block are the exceptions) have views towards the Loch and Mountains. Access to the Knoydart peninsular is easy using the Corran ferry which very close or by the scenic drive along the Fort William to Mallaig road via Lochailort, we went this way after visiting mallard first and returned by ferry, a spectacular day out.The site well situated for site seeing in all directions or for Ben Nevis for those feeling up to it. All in all this site is well worth a visiting can only be described as stunning.
Absolutely perfect location but get there soon after opening time if you want a loch side pitch. Facilities up to the excellent standard of Caravan club sites. We will certainly be back
Poor signposting to site. The signpost is right on the turning to the site and can easily be missed,it needs to be a few grad before. Toilets are old although kept very clean they are somewhat jaded and the showers emit a little more than a trickle of hot water. The site is in a beautiful setting fabulous views from almost every pitch and the site is looked after well by the wardens. With an upgrade to the facilities this would be a 5* site.
