Wonderful location

Bunree site is a perfect location for visiting the Great Glen. The site is tidy, clean and welcoming. The views from every pitch are amazing. From watching otters to seeing shipping passing by there is so much to look at from the site. Only a short distance from the Corran Ferry which gives access to Ardnamurchan and Strontian. Everything about this site was exactly as it should be. We will certainly be visiting again.

Our favourite CC site without a doubt!

What can we say about this site that hasn't already been said. The views were amazing and the sunsets we experienced were truly jaw dropping, one evening there must have been nearly everybody out with their cameras trying to capture the dying sun. The wardens were very helpful and nice. We found a pub about 15 mins walk away, or if you are feeling a bit more adventurous you could walk down to the nearby ferry to Ardgour which is free for foot passengers and do the walk around the forest and a pint in the Ardgour Inn before the 10 minute trip back to Corran. The walks in the area are suitable for every ability from those with very limited mobility right up to alpine junkies. We paid 25p for a local walking guide at the reception and did some great walks. For me the only thing that really annoyed us was the fact that we were near the motor home tank dumping spot and why oh why do you motor homers have to keep your engines running when you are doing this ??? It is such a beautiful spot so why waste your diesel polluting the atmosphere and causing annoyance, we just could not understand why you would do this and sometimes quite early in the morning??? Other than that, a fab weeks stayπŸ‘

Fantastic Site

Stayed for a long weekend with two small children. The site is peaceful with absolutely stunning views. We found the facilities to be in good working order and kept to a good level of cleanliness. The staff were extremely helpful and always on hand. The kids loved the play park and we took plenty of walks by the loch side. Overall we had a fantastic experience and will be back in the new year.

Beguiling.....

As I say in my title this site is beguiling and I think that it has certainly meant that some reviewers have been glamoured by its beauty and failed to see it's few faults. The view from this site is, as others have said, very nice but that's not a factor this traveler takes in to account, knowing full well that the weather plays a big part in whether you even get to see the view! What I look for is a clean site and good facilities, Bunree certainly ticks the box on the former but not so much on the latter. I had noticed that this was a site of early risers and it didn't take me long to figure out why; it's to make sure you get to the showers (and toilets) before the queue! There is a total of 12 showers to cater for up to 99 pitches; this is simply not enough. The toilet provision of just 13 stalls for anything up to and above 198 people means that there is a lot of pressure on these facilities when the site is busy. The down side is that in the morning the place smells like the elephant enclosure at Edinburgh Zoo. The answer? A bit more investment and another toilet/shower block. Let's stop relying on the picturesque outlook and improve the infrastructure. Another massive let down is the internet connection. It is woeful. Connection is sporadic and constantly drops meaning that your peaceful, restful break becomes fractious when trying to pick up mail or connect with family and friends via social media amongst other things. Would I recommend this site? Yes, but with a couple of caveats as advised herein.

Dog walk?

Bit of a stretch of the imagination to call it a dog. walk. Minimal grass when the tides in and the rest is cobbles....hence lame dog. There are plenty of walks off site to be fair.

Beautiful location

This is our second visit to Bunree and we weren't disappointed. The weather wasn't as good as last year but it didn't deter us from enjoying our holiday. We can highly recommend this site we haven't found one better and if we lived nearer we would visit more often. The views are stunning even in the rain and the sunsets are breathtaking. We have been lucky on both visits to get a lochside location and never tire of the view from our caravan even in the rain. Plenty to do in the local area with stunning scenery everywhere. The children on the site seemed to enjoy the facilities and also good for dog lovers with designated areas for them to enjoy a run. The road to mallaig was very picturesque although it would have been better on the steam train but it needs booking in advance during the high season. Great walks around the Glen Nevis area. We will most definitely be back as soon as we can and look forward to it I think a yearly visit is a must.

Excellent situation

We stayed at Bunree the second week of August. We set the van and awning up to a beautiful sunny day with gorgeous views down loch Linnhe and across to the hills.Unfortunately the weather was bad the rest of the week with the rain coming down in Stairrods!Handy though the rain seemed to put off the Midgeys. The site was well kept,no noise, the toilets were older but looked after and clean. We chased the sun by going west to the coast and caught the steam train to Mallaig. All in all the site and area has a lot to offer. No problems that we noticed with Dog walkers.
