Despite the weather another perfect visit

This was our second visit to Bunree perfect again. There is little doubt in our minds that Bunree enjoys perhaps the best views of any of the sites on the circuit. The weather was truly awful for our stay but that did not deter us from having a really lovely time. There is so much to see and do in the area and if you wish further afield. The facilities are kept beautifully and the team that looks after the site always helpful and friendly. We pitched at the back of the site again, these pitches afford great views over the Loch to the mountains beyond and during squally showers and high winds give some cover. We always put the awning up with storm guys and double peg as necessary so we did not have any worries during the stormier weather conditions. We visited Skye during our visit and went along to the Gathering at Blair Athlon driving in Scotland on the A roads is a joy and the scenery breathtaking. Will we be back you bet we will we have already booked for next year.

Second visit - just as stunning

Stayed here for a week (3rd site on this trip) Amazing location a few miles from Fort William. Weather glorious which only adds to the beauty of this site. Neptune’s Staircase near FW lovely for a visit to watch the boats going up and down the flight of locks. Lovely cafe overlooking the locks and mountains. Sit outside if you can to make the most of the views. Oban a lovely day out, as is Mallaig. Go across on the Corran Ferry (free for blue badge holders) turn left and have a stunning drive alongside the lochs and mountains - brings you to the Mallaig road eventually. The whole of this area is spectacular. Seeing a cruise ship sail across the Loch in the early evening sunshine was a sight to behold. Although Bunree is a wonderful place to stay it’s getting ready for some TLC. The grassed areas and the hardstandings were full of weeds and the grass needed cutting. The hardstandings are in desperate need of refurbishment. The site is always full but it’s not open all year so come on CMC this is the jewel in the crown and needs taking better care of.

Lovely spot, and one we are returning to!

We spent part of our honeymoon here, to coincide with our first wedding anniversary, so it was special for that reason - we arrived late after a long drive from Kinlochewe and there was just one space left for us, but it was by the water's edge. Stayed a few days and hiked in Glencoe, also drove to Ardnamurchan Point which was one of the remotest place I've ever been (and we are from the northern isles!) The Lost Valley is a wonderful hike in Glencoe. We are returning to Bunree for our second wedding anniversary in July. We spend 65 nights around the UK's Caravan Club sites for our honeymoon last year and Bunree remains our favourite! It's scenic, quiet, convenient for shopping in Fort William, and as we now live in Inverness it's not too far to come either. Can't wait!

7 Nights 1 May 2019

This was stop 4 on our multi-stop tour from Lincolnshire to Scotland (and back) with 7 nights here after a 3+ hour drive from a stopover at Strathclyde Country Park. I had heard from friends (and read reviews) about this site and they had not exaggerated. It is truly stunning. We could not get our week booking on the non-awning pitches at the front which are right on the loch side but one row back still gave a magnificent view unparalleled by any site visited before. Quite breathtaking. This was our first visit and the wardens were really helpful with directions and suggestions for local walks with good views along the loch. They are a friendly team who keep the facilities spotless and always said hello when passing or gave a cheery wave as they they chugged by on their little orange tractor. A short drive north takes you to Fort William which has a few shops and supermarkets. A small town well worth visiting. A slightly longer but scenic drive to Oban was also very rewarding with lots to see. On the way back to the site we had a picnic at a parking area on the side of Loch Linnhe which gave wonderful views. A total chill out experience! While staying here we saw a red squirrel at the feeders in the woods across the road from the site and on a drive to Lochaline we spotted a sea eagle. Magnificent! Summary: A site that's hard to sum up without ending every sentence with an exclamation mark! Well run, well located and so peaceful. Just beautiful. We will be returning next year.

If only it had spaces.....

Have stayed here 3 times now, twice booked within 1 day's notice. Fabulous location at the waterside, although the best pitches on the shoreline (without awning) appear to booked up well in advance. All good facilities, well presented. Pitches close to level. Nice gastropub at Ballachulish. Good walks from the site into the hills opposite.

Just WOW!

We kept seeing pictures and reading about this lovely site and now we are pleased to have visited and can't wait to be back. This is an amazing site! The views are fabulous, the loch with the mountains behind; absolutely stunning. There is a lot to do in the area, I don't think we even scratched the surface. We hiked in several locations, including the short waterfall hike that is just across the road from the site as well as Ben Nevis. If you fancy driving around there are some beautiful places to visit and the scenery is amazing with crystal clear coastal water. We really lucked out with great weather, not too cold or windy. In fact we only had a bit of rain for 2 afternoons which is not bad for a 5 night stay. We are a family of 4 with children aged 11 and 13, they didn't play in the park and we were so busy we never did get a chance to use the games room but I could see it being very popular in bad weather! The site was very clean and tidy and the toilets always clean. We really enjoyed our stay, I just wish it was closer to home as I can't wait to get back!

Beautiful site but needs a better dog-walking area

We were lucky enough to get a lochside pitch this time and enjoyed stunning sunsets over Loch Linnhe. We also saw a great northern diver from our caravan. However, we have two dogs and whenever we took them to the dog walking area, which is very small and by the sea, the tide was in, making it virtually unusable. I notice a previous reviewer has complained about dogs being walked and doing their business in front of their caravan and I do sympathise with this. Perhaps the Caravan Club could acquire an extra and large piece of land that is not susceptible to the tide for the dogs to use?
