7 Nights 1 May 2019

This was stop 4 on our multi-stop tour from Lincolnshire to Scotland (and back) with 7 nights here after a 3+ hour drive from a stopover at Strathclyde Country Park. I had heard from friends (and read reviews) about this site and they had not exaggerated. It is truly stunning. We could not get our week booking on the non-awning pitches at the front which are right on the loch side but one row back still gave a magnificent view unparalleled by any site visited before. Quite breathtaking. This was our first visit and the wardens were really helpful with directions and suggestions for local walks with good views along the loch. They are a friendly team who keep the facilities spotless and always said hello when passing or gave a cheery wave as they they chugged by on their little orange tractor. A short drive north takes you to Fort William which has a few shops and supermarkets. A small town well worth visiting. A slightly longer but scenic drive to Oban was also very rewarding with lots to see. On the way back to the site we had a picnic at a parking area on the side of Loch Linnhe which gave wonderful views. A total chill out experience! While staying here we saw a red squirrel at the feeders in the woods across the road from the site and on a drive to Lochaline we spotted a sea eagle. Magnificent! Summary: A site that's hard to sum up without ending every sentence with an exclamation mark! Well run, well located and so peaceful. Just beautiful. We will be returning next year.

If only it had spaces.....

Have stayed here 3 times now, twice booked within 1 day's notice. Fabulous location at the waterside, although the best pitches on the shoreline (without awning) appear to booked up well in advance. All good facilities, well presented. Pitches close to level. Nice gastropub at Ballachulish. Good walks from the site into the hills opposite.

Just WOW!

We kept seeing pictures and reading about this lovely site and now we are pleased to have visited and can't wait to be back. This is an amazing site! The views are fabulous, the loch with the mountains behind; absolutely stunning. There is a lot to do in the area, I don't think we even scratched the surface. We hiked in several locations, including the short waterfall hike that is just across the road from the site as well as Ben Nevis. If you fancy driving around there are some beautiful places to visit and the scenery is amazing with crystal clear coastal water. We really lucked out with great weather, not too cold or windy. In fact we only had a bit of rain for 2 afternoons which is not bad for a 5 night stay. We are a family of 4 with children aged 11 and 13, they didn't play in the park and we were so busy we never did get a chance to use the games room but I could see it being very popular in bad weather! The site was very clean and tidy and the toilets always clean. We really enjoyed our stay, I just wish it was closer to home as I can't wait to get back!

Beautiful site but needs a better dog-walking area

We were lucky enough to get a lochside pitch this time and enjoyed stunning sunsets over Loch Linnhe. We also saw a great northern diver from our caravan. However, we have two dogs and whenever we took them to the dog walking area, which is very small and by the sea, the tide was in, making it virtually unusable. I notice a previous reviewer has complained about dogs being walked and doing their business in front of their caravan and I do sympathise with this. Perhaps the Caravan Club could acquire an extra and large piece of land that is not susceptible to the tide for the dogs to use?

Simply stunning

Probably the nicest site we've stayed on so far in our travels! Fabulous sunset views and plenty of boats and bird life on the water to keep me happy for hours. Great location for many attractions in the area and biggest bonus, just a couple of hours from home near Inverness so will be re-visiting 'out of season' for the odd week or two in the future. Gave it 5 stars for all ratings, but cannot really comment on the 'good for families' one really as it was just us 2 semi-retired people! However, it had a play area, water, beach and rocks to climb on so we would definitely take our grandchildren there. Most amusing part was every morning watching people frantically putting items on vacant pitches loch side as they were vacated before relocating their caravans or motorhomes! Personally, we preferred being one row back as still had fabulous views, but no people walking too closely past our windows with or without a dog.

Fabulous highland site

We stayed here for 12 nights in April. With the exception of just three pitches (which sadly overlook the toilet block) every single other pitch has a fabulous view of Loch Linnhe. It really was fantastic to open the blinds to such views every morning. We were so lucky with the weather, cold but sunny mostly and very little rain or wind. I imagine in poor weather it’s probably not a great site to be on, so it would be worth checking the forecast before you come. The site is well maintained, with friendly and helpful wardens, and clean facilities. There is a games room and play area, and a laundry room. Over the road from the site are some lovely forest walks and it’s a great base for exploring the highlands including fort William and Ben Nevis which we climbed whilst there. The only thing lacking for us is a local village or shop to walk to, there is a local restaurant but we didn’t like the look of it. Would definitely return to this beautiful part of the world.

First outing of 2019

Just home from 6 nights on this great site. Initially we couldn't decide where we wanted to go. Looked at site at Connel but the reviews were pretty damning so came to Bunree. Right decision. fabulous views, friendly wardens, spotless warm toilet block, and excellent wi-fi. Weather was a bit cold overnight but the during the day, lovely. we considered staying a further night but sadly we had things to attend to at home. We were pleased to find the site wasn't particularly busy considering the school holidays, but that was only to our benefit. Highly recommended.

Sensational location

Arrived at Bunree for our first visit and WOW!!! Incredible views. Easy check in, perfect facilities and perfect for families. We got lucky with the weather, im sure at times it could be harsh there, especially if windy but its a 10/10 from us! We will certainly be returning in the future!

Be prepared - if out of season!

We stayed for 4 nights in late March 2019 - the site is in a great location but can be exposed when the wind blows up Loch Linnhe! Usual CC site facilities as you would expect - some dog owners did not seem interested in using the dog walk and instead walked in front of loch side pitches - we do not like to eat and watch dogs doing their business - wardens please remind dog owners about their responsibilities! Fort William has seen better days - the main street (mainly pedestrianised) is a bit run down, so depressing and with a lot of empty shops and others in need of improvement. We ate at the Ben Nevis Pub which had been spruced up and offers good value bar meals and a log fire! There is also a Wetherspoons here. There is a Morrisons supermarket, MacDonalds and heading north out of town is a M&S Food Hall & Aldi so plenty stores to stock up - you may need it - we found a number of eating establishments were not opening until Easter!
