We were meet at the gate by a lovely member of staff and check in was quick and helpful. we found a pitch in the what we believe is the newer part of the site, this was a mistake and we should have looked for a pitch on the older areas as we drove in, as any wind and it feels like a gale in this part, even when full it felt open and empty. so if you can get on the first two area as you enter go here. visiting the toilet block I found of the 2 cubicles open one was dirty and they other had a broken toilet seat (sadly first impressions stick) there was a sign saying any more damage and the block would be closed, there was no further incidents during our 6 night stay so i can only assume the people responsible had left.
Lots of dogs on site, not an issue as we have one ourselves. but some of the owners just didn't like picking up after them.
WiFi was terrible and i think only worked one day in the whole visit. yep a first world issue but when you trying to keep a teenager happy it is a must. good job i have a decent data package on my phone I could use, but even the phone signal was hit and miss. also on arrival we where told not to put anything on the grass as they where cutting it. that was on the Monday, they finally cut the grass around us on the Saturday, yet the noise of the lawn mower never seemed to stop all week
We went into Bridlington once and for us that was enough. there are much better sea side towns within a stones throw. Sewerby Hall is a must visit and with in walking distance as well as the pubs in the village around it.
The lighthouse at Flamborough Head is worth a visit if your lucky you will get to see some sea lions. as it turned out even though both me and my wife in our life time had seen loads of lighthouses we realised we had never seen one actually doing it's job at night. so we made a trip and that's now ticked off the list (sad i know)
for the bird watchers among you or just the lovers of nature the RSPB reserve is a good visit.
we will return to the area but might not be to this site.
July 2021
Recently stayed at the Bridlington CMC site. Ideally situated for easy access to the town (about 2 miles walking or 15 minute on the bus - which stops right outside the site and drops you off in town) or lovely walks along the cliff tops from Sewerby. Good road links to North Yorkshire towns and attractions. Site appears to be the 'old site' and a 'newer' open field site. Nevertheless, a well maintained site, clean and tidy. Wash rooms were kept clean. Nice restaurant in Sewerby called the Old Forge for an evening meal. Seemed to be rather a lot of dogs on site, one in particular kept barking continuously (the owners totally ignored it). TV reception was fine, but the WiFi kept dropping out. Found the wardens to be a bit lacking in customer service skills. Taking every thing into account, had a lovely stay.
Lovely site
This was our 2nd stay on this site. We like it a lot although it's a bit on the open side for us. We prefer woodland sites but its location is ideal and the weather was great. On checking in, the warden was a bit abrupt although polite and very clear about the rules despite telling her we had stayed there before when she asked. We prefer a warmer and welcoming approach. The facilities and grounds were very looked after. I recommend this site to those motorhomers who are not as picky as us!
5 night stay
This site is great for access to the various beaches only short drive away. Most car parks are pay and display.
There is a very good dog walk on the site and 2 miles away in Sewerby you can park from 60p for 1 hour upto a full day. Its a great grass headland area thag my dogs loved.
The site its self is very good with level pitches and 2 toilet wash factilities.
Currently due to Covid they are using a band system which allows max of 4 people in them at one time. My only grip is that people either forget to remove the bands when they leave and more annoying dont put a band on. Personally i went in with no bands showing and there were 3 people in.
First time but not the last
This was our first visit to the campsite, and I can assure you it won't be the last. Being a recently redeveloped Caravan Club site, we were not sure as to how it would be, but we shouldn't have worried, it was lovely.
The pitches are well spaced out, the facilities excellent and there's always the members friendly and welcoming.
We were met on arrival by the wardens, who went through the check in process (which I very much liked) at the van and then we travelled around to find a pitch. The site was immaculate and well presented with plenty of room around the pitch. Site was level and so no chocking up and we were drinking team in minutes.
Site was very quiet with a very big dog walking area but if you want to go into town, you need to be a keen walker, have transport or catch the bus near the site entry (long drive). Being keen walkers, we walked a lot and the walks were brilliant. It’s about a 2.5 mile walk into Bridlington, but easy to get to the seafront and walk in that way, so avoiding the traffic.
Will come again and bring the dogs next time.
Two sites in one
Arrived for our first visit to Bridlington site. Wardens were courteous on arrival, if a little short at times. Was warned about 'the grass', but having read about this in previous reviews, it was no surprise. To be fair, the site looked extremely well kept and clean as we we looked for a pitch. The first half of the site (which I understand is the original part) had all the hallmarks of a good well run club site, with MH's and Caravans well spaced in little homely cul de sac's. As we turned into one of these as we thought a pitch was free, another member shouted out ' you cant come in here, its full!'. Okay, so we off we went and found ourselves in what I understand is the newer half. We found a nice neat hardstanding pitch, but it didn't feel right. We were at the bottom of the field so could look up the site, and we came to realise that it had so much open space between vehicles and caravans, it felt like a half full car park, even when site was nearly full, especially the middle area. Facilities were very good and well presented. Only other point was that the shop doesnt sell any essentials like milk and bread. Was told to use the Farm shop along the road to Sewerby. When we got there, it was shut (midday Friday), so had to walk towards Bridlington to find a Service Station.
Some great walks along the cliffs to Flamborough Head and to Bridlington. Sewerby Hall is worth a visit for the morning and so is the Ship Inn in Sewerby for a drink. Bus Stop right outside is good with buses every hour.
Excellent site
Nice open site site with excellent facilities although let down by TV signal and Wifi.
Had to retune the TV signal a few times as it suddenly dropped out and couldn't even get ITV one night. The following day it was fine and I checked the other vans around me and they all had the same problem. Also had issues with the WiFi speed and dropping out especially in the evenings, hopefully an upgrade is on the cards. I can understand the previous comments about the wardens, but charm goes a long way but at least they kept the site spotless so no complaints from me.
Lots to do in the surrounding area and the RSPB Bempton Cliffs is worth a visit.
Abrupt Female Warden
Absolutely love this site. We have visited many times and will continue to return because of its fabulous facilities and great location.
However, I've removed a star on the ratings as one of the female wardens could do with a lesson in customer care. Personally I found her very abrupt and frosty. To some guests she would come across as intimidating. But she wont put us off returning!
Lovely site.
This is a lovely site with great sized open pitches, facilities very clean. There are some great walks from the site to Sewerby, Danes Dyke beach and Bridlington which is a typical English seaside resort, bit rough round the edges but beautiful beaches.
Ship Inn in Sewerby served a lovely meal and we had some good Fish and Chips at Pier 6 in Bridlington.
Check in was made with minimal contact which meant there was no verbal reinforcement of covid rules, just written information which people didn't read, this maybe why the band system fails . The reception area was no entry.
There was signage overload particularly when using the facilities and that's if you manage to negotiate the one way system first. The band system on the surface appeared to work but on observation it didn't at all, band were in the bowl, on the peg, in the pocket or not used at all , perhaps needs a rethink ? Face coverings were rarely used. The wardens are probably not aware of the failings of the band system because the bands are there when they come to clean the facilities.
The staff are working hard to maintain the site in what are difficult times and it is a credit to them.
We look forward to visiting again the the future.
Great site
Second stay here and site is very peaceful, clean and well maintained with good size pitches and services. Shower block was kept very clean by staff (some residents less able to do so) although the very simple band system for shower block use is clearly well beyond the capabilities of some people with bands not being put on hooks, not taken off hooks or not used at all - come on everyone, the club has put a lot of effort into this, play your part, if its too difficult, stop towing a caravan!
Staff very friendly and helpful and putting in effort to maintain the site as top notch.
Couple of small gripes with people on site - someone with a large motorhome and tow car behind it felt it was ok to go against the no entry system on the road rather than drive around which was a hazard if you were stepping onto the road expecting members to do as asked and one dog which was allowed to run around off lead creating some consternation among other dog owners.
Lots to do nearby both coastal and inland and good access roads onto site make it ideal as a base for a restful holiday or a sight seeing base
