Rubbish bins

We regularly use theBridlington site. However the new policy of a single bin area is a detrimental step. The site is large and the bin area is outside the entrance barrier, which for many pitches is a trek. We were with our Granddaughter and the majority of members on site were grandparents with children. I think many people will leave their rubbish outside until they are going past the bins, this will naturally result in vermin. Other than that the site was as usual well maintained and the facilities spotless. The play park is excellent for older children, and seeing the birds at RSPB Bempton, and the seals at Flamborough were a highlight.

Great site in good location.

We arrived on 13th Aug 2024. Met by lovely staff who explained the new bin method. Not a problem as you can pop bins away when exiting the site and it helps the environment. No flies to bother us at all. We did have a few flies in 2019 when we first came, (nothing a flyscreen wouldn't solve) and we have been every year since without any issues. Site staff are very friendly and the site is well kept and very clean. It's a great base for trips around the east coast and there are plenty of places within walking distance. Our German neighbours said its the best one they've stayed on since being in the UK. We'll definitely be back next year without a doubt.

Rubbish

My overall complaint is that people have to walk hundreds of yards in some cases, in all weather to dispose of rubbish/recycling. This is not a service, it is total disregard of the customer! People use cars to transport their rubbish just so the Club can save on bin liners, passing the cost onto the customer on an already expensive site. The focus yet again is not customer satisfaction!!

Flies Flies and more flies

Only gave 3 out of 5 overall because of the Fly problem!! I do think that Brid site should be discounted at the moment until the Fly problem is resolved Fly spray has a limited effect and I am not a fan of filling my van with toxic fumes! and although I don't particularly like fly papers I do think the site should be providing these free of charge. Also and I know this is not just this site, It feels like we are now doing some of the wardens work having to take out rubbish to a central location rather than the old system of bins located around the site. We pay enough as overall prices are up and service is down!

Weekend break with grandchildren

Spent Thursday to Sunday in our caravan and managed to obtain a pitch next to the tent field where my daughters family were pitched. It was beautifully quiet and the playing field was ideal for the grandchildren who had lots of fun with other children staying nearby. The flies were a bit of a nuisance and kept setting car alarms off across the site so had to lock the car without alarm set. We didn't let this spoil our holiday. The site management is quite strict which may alarm some people but with so many people staying at the same time, it may be that strict control is welcome. I mistakenly parked my caravan outside the white pegs and this led to major inquiry regarding health and safety but as I was the last caravan they allowed it. The site facilities were beautifully clean and we will certainly be returning (armed with fly spray).

On Site Experience Spoiled By Flys

We have visited Bridlington on several occasions, once at the same time of year with similar weather conditions, however never experienced the number of flys as on this visit. They were queuing up to get in as soon as you opened the door fly blind. It was impossible to keep them out of the van and our fly spray seemed ineffective. On this visit we had our 6 year old granddaughter with us and didn’t spend much time on site, anyone wanting just to chill out wouldn’t have found it particularly pleasant. Flys apart the site is of the normal high quality. Although this time, having a 6 year old we were able to evaluate the play facilities. There is a large field with a well equipped ball playing area adjacent to the new area of the site. Although what the site plan doesn’t show is the left hand end is now occupied by tents. For anyone booking a tent pitch they are about as far from the facilities as it’s possible to get. I certainly wouldn’t have considered it suitable when we used to tent. There is also a small non ball play area on the old part of the site. However, this seems to be filled with equipment centred around exercise rather than fun. The older kids there were singularly unimpressed, as was our granddaughter. There was no slide, or climbing frame both of which she really enjoys, a strange omission in my opinion and nothing at all suitable for anyone younger than her. You are spoiled for choice for things to do within a few miles. On this visit as we had also taken our car, so didn’t use the bus, the stop for which is at the end of the site lane. We made several trips to the beach at Bridlington. Good reasonably priced parking in a cliffside field at Limekiln lane, located between the town and Sewerby Hall. We also visited Flamborough head and RSPB Bempton, where she enjoyed the Puffin trail and looking at the Gannets with their young.

Biblical fly problem

Never been on a site with this many flies. The van is full no matter what you do. Also hardly see any small birds for some reason. Lots of pigeon and magpies but hardly heard anything else. Lots of lovely tree cover for them. Other than the above it is a lovely site. But the flies totally spoil any thoughts of relaxation.

Horrendous fly problem

Not really in the wardens power to solve but the fly's on this site were horrendous, no matter how careful with the fly screens etc. they kept getting in to the caravan (though the gas drops maybe) it really spoilt the holiday for us, that and yappy dogs. Ask reception about the fly problem and did they sell fly swats, only to be told you would probably get a fly swat in Bridlington. Many other members were complaining about the fly's as well as ourselves.

Great site at any time of the year

We always enjoy our stays on this site, which has friendly staff and is clean and well-maintained. The only thing I would say is that the new policy for general refuge waste (i.e., taking your bin liners to a central point next to reception) is a bit of a step backwards, in my opinion. I get the reduction in plastic bin liners, etc., but it’s a bit of a trek from some of the pitches. It wouldn’t stop us from going, but for a larger family, creating more waste, it’s not ideal. Everything else is superb.

Where have the previous wardens gone

Arrived at the site to an uncomfortable welcome from the lady doing arrivals.Whilst there on site put a wash line airer up and pinned it down on the grass. After returning from Bridlington town centre one day found it lying awkwardly across my relaxing chair when confronted the concerned warden he told me that’s ours(meaning the grass)and the gravel is the campers. And continued if nothing on Airer then should be taken down.I replied surely due to have a shower everyday couldn’t take down and put up every time.He also said I should have known he was gonna cut grass when had come around earlier.I told him surely he could have asked me to take down at time. Then thelady came out of to reception to support him which thought rather rude. Please bring back previous wardens.
