Noisy Grass cutting spoiled visit

Stayed July on the now more mature but still clinical area, in true CMC Head Office style. The new second area section is very barren & open and akin to a Supermarket Car Park with some (constantly) cut grass bits. Both areas enclosed with no scenic outlook or views. Loud drone of Grass cutting machinery was underway on site and our area which spoiled 5 afternoons of our 7 day stay - usually for 4 or 5 hours daily including until 5.20pm on the Sunday. So for us it was a noisy site (solely because of grass cutting) but in a quiet area & pleasant location ! Don't really understand who is directing most Site Wardens to cut back every available inch of grass so constantly to the very edges on seemingly all CMC sites. Is it really desired by David Bellamy Conservation Awards etc ? On a recent visit to Cayton Bay CMC our family stopped in a Freedom Experience Pod where the new landscaping is soft with mainly wild flowers etc & minimal grass cutting - main site was barren with constant 100% cut grass ! We would return to Bridlington CMC outside of the grass cutting period. Dog walk area was very good with simple mown paths between the tall meadow growth & hedgerows. NB Childrens activity field at Bridlington was left overgrown & so un-useable !

Some disappointment with this site

We stayed on this site with a motorhome early July.. Large flat pitches and very clean facilities. Site a little open and sole less. Disappointed by the constant mowing. Every day all day. After going walking and out and about in the morning. Would be nice to sit on a peaceful site in the afternoons. But every day you could hear mowing on site both mornings and afternoons. Disappointed with the Caravan and Motorhome wifi on this site which proved trouble some and had to have a few calls to C and M customer service to get it sorted a few days.

Another 2 night stop travelling back from NC500

As title, we were breaking up our 'round trip' + exploring sites for future stays.... Lovely journey & views as we had come from Old Hartley. Site is very open & spacious with generously large level pitches with grass areas adjacent that can be enjoyed.... Ideal location for meeting our daughter who lives in West Yorks & will probably return at a future date once Covid is under control.... No problems with wardens, found them to be polite & friendly, reception is quite small so it made sense for this to be 'out of bounds' & arrivals to be dealt with outside. Didn't explore local area this time but one for the future.

Great site but alas share some of the same gripes as others….

4th visit, lovely immaculately clean and well cared for site - cannot fault. Alas, looking at the other reviews, we share the views - as we also came a cropper several times with the less than customer focused wardens. Our main crime appeared to be that we had brought a small second car, being a family of 3 adults and a teenager - (said car stayed in the car park out of the way for the duration). Upon arrival, the second car was met with less than enthusiasm let’s put it that way, by the warden and we felt told off, even when we quickly unloaded it and immediately brought it back to the car park 10 mins after arriving, inconveniencing no one. We were met with sarcasm when jointly collecting the barrier pass and depositing the car into the car park. The day before we left, we were putting a few chairs into the second car - (still in the car park, it had not moved) and we were challenged by a warden bellowing across the car park ‘Do we know you are here’?!!!! I said I hope so as we’d been here for 5 days and going home the day after (can only assume they thought the second car was a visitor and we were pulling a ‘fast one’). The car had been sat unmoved in the same spot opposite the office all week with the pitch number in the window?? Surely a quick paperwork check would show that, rather then bellowing at guests. All in all we will come back, it’s lovely and we get being a warden must be a thankless task at times, but the customer service is sorely lacking.

Worst site we have ever visited 🥺

This is absolutely the worst site I have ever visited. It inspired me to write a review-a first! The huge shame is that this site COULD be great- it's issues lie with the staff who manage it. On the first day of our stay, we noticed that one washroom was missing a wristband for covid security. We (or so we thought) helpfully mentioned this to the warden as we left site to go out for the day to be told that " oh yes- we just wait for it to come back". Ooooookay. So it didn't come back. The whole week. So the already limited facilities were further limited. Great. Super helpful. We also mentioned that the hose used for the chemical toilet emptying was split-this resulted in a simultaneous shower and cassette emptying. Despite mentioning that this was damaged it also was ignored-until it was hanging by a thread and unusable. The option was to walk to a further facility which was annoying as I was visiting with my elderly mother and I had just had surgery. We also paid £11 for WiFi use- a total waste of money which I have requested back- we didn't manage to get online even once during our weeks stay. Pretty abysmal. As we hadn't achieved anything by speaking with the wardens on the other two times we decided not to bother. I'm trying to find a positive for this site-but I can't- maybe the location. New staff would go a long way to making this site a success. I will certainly review more sites-we have stayed on some fabulous ones-but this was horrible. I loved the puffins at Bempton Cliffs but would not recommend this site to anyone.

Great location, but a soulless site

This site is perfectly maintained and the facilities are immaculate. Unfortunately, the on site staff let it down ... we'd rung ahead to say that we would be arriving later than planned, but the message didn't get passed on. Rather felt like a telling off when we arrived at 5pm. I didn't have my membership card with me, which hadn't been a problem on the previous 3 sites we'd visited on our trip, but again, a telling off! No views from the site, just other pitches ... it wasn't over crowed, just soulless. Due its size and pitches with dogs, it felt noisy. A play area for children, so assume that it would be good if you're travelling with kids. A great location for exploring in/around Flamborough, thoroughly recommend a visit to Brempton Cliffs RSPB and Flamborough Head.

Great location and lots to do in the area

We have stayed at the site before and the location is ideal for us for walking. We walked on the cliff top path via Danes Dyke to the lighthouse where there is an excellent cafe. It’s an easy walk into Bridlington on the cliff tops, like any other seaside town there are good and bad things about and the pandemic won’t have helped the town. The beaches are lovely, especially the North Beach which is dog friendly and easily reached from the car park. We fortunate to have beautiful weather which is a bonus. The site is well maintained and clean and the wardens were friendly and helpful and during our stay had to manage the change out of lockdown on a site which was full so that can’t have been easy. There are loads more places to visit, we didn’t get to Bempton to see the Albatross but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Rude male Grass cutter (warden)

Well where do I start, The Good: The site is in a perfect location, Clean showers and toilets. Great dog area Nice big pitches Here comes the Bad: The male grass cutter he may be the Warden, well how rude and ignorant. Firstly I was filling in the track n trace, he says" I just want your name, not war n peace, tutted and wandered off" Then insisted on mowing grass in the afternoons when people are trying to relax after a morning out. Then insists we take guide ropes out as " the grass won't cut its self" no please or thank you, just very abrupt. And to top it off snapped our wind breaker as it was in his way, it was 1 inch yes 1 inch near the grass. He didn't own up or appologise, it was other members who saw him do it. The mower spoils the peace all day everyday. And it doesn't even look cut he just snips the top of the blades off, makes you wonder if he is trying to look busy to keep his job. The road through and around the site is also extremely busy. He definitely needs a customer service course. I was actually shocked that the CMH C pay him.

Sorry not for me

We were meet at the gate by a lovely member of staff and check in was quick and helpful. we found a pitch in the what we believe is the newer part of the site, this was a mistake and we should have looked for a pitch on the older areas as we drove in, as any wind and it feels like a gale in this part, even when full it felt open and empty. so if you can get on the first two area as you enter go here. visiting the toilet block I found of the 2 cubicles open one was dirty and they other had a broken toilet seat (sadly first impressions stick) there was a sign saying any more damage and the block would be closed, there was no further incidents during our 6 night stay so i can only assume the people responsible had left. Lots of dogs on site, not an issue as we have one ourselves. but some of the owners just didn't like picking up after them. WiFi was terrible and i think only worked one day in the whole visit. yep a first world issue but when you trying to keep a teenager happy it is a must. good job i have a decent data package on my phone I could use, but even the phone signal was hit and miss. also on arrival we where told not to put anything on the grass as they where cutting it. that was on the Monday, they finally cut the grass around us on the Saturday, yet the noise of the lawn mower never seemed to stop all week We went into Bridlington once and for us that was enough. there are much better sea side towns within a stones throw. Sewerby Hall is a must visit and with in walking distance as well as the pubs in the village around it. The lighthouse at Flamborough Head is worth a visit if your lucky you will get to see some sea lions. as it turned out even though both me and my wife in our life time had seen loads of lighthouses we realised we had never seen one actually doing it's job at night. so we made a trip and that's now ticked off the list (sad i know) for the bird watchers among you or just the lovers of nature the RSPB reserve is a good visit. we will return to the area but might not be to this site.

July 2021

Recently stayed at the Bridlington CMC site. Ideally situated for easy access to the town (about 2 miles walking or 15 minute on the bus - which stops right outside the site and drops you off in town) or lovely walks along the cliff tops from Sewerby. Good road links to North Yorkshire towns and attractions. Site appears to be the 'old site' and a 'newer' open field site. Nevertheless, a well maintained site, clean and tidy. Wash rooms were kept clean. Nice restaurant in Sewerby called the Old Forge for an evening meal. Seemed to be rather a lot of dogs on site, one in particular kept barking continuously (the owners totally ignored it). TV reception was fine, but the WiFi kept dropping out. Found the wardens to be a bit lacking in customer service skills. Taking every thing into account, had a lovely stay.
