Very enjoyable Stay.

Perfect site. Made very welcome by the wardens who were very pleasant people. Site kept spotlessly clean, however the peace and quite of the site was spoilt by the wardens using a very loud motorised leaf blower four days out of the seven we stayed on site, the funny side of this was the wind blow the leafs back over the pitches and roads again as soon as the warden went for his break only to see him return the nest day to blow the leafs away yet again. I think the club should ban the use of these very noisy machines or revert to electric machines so cutting out the horrible noise these motorised blowers create. Rachel & David

Can't wait to return

Just spent 4nights here with our Grandaughter. Loved every minute. Toilet block was immaculate. Wardens were really helpful and friendly. Our granddaughter loved the play area.

An enjoyable stay

We visited in mid October and although we had a good time we were disappointed by the lack of dog walking from the site . We had to use the car to access good dog walks ,there is a nice dog walk on site but it takes 10 minutes at the most to walk around this .The reservoir nearby is excellent for dog walking but is accessed by a busy road with no pavements so we used the car ,its only a 5 minute drive .The site itself is tiered and if you go to the back there is no road noise from the busy road nearby ,the wardens are very friendly and helpful and keep the site in a lovely condition , and the chip van which visits is bonus . The scenery is wonderful and there are plenty of nearby attractions to visit . We won't go back only because we choose sites with direct access to dog walks .

Must come back

We had read about the site at Blackshaw Moor and were looking forward to visiting. Finally got there at the end of a tour of the Peak District in August and we were not disappointed. It is a lovely site in a great location amongst stunning scenery. The wardens were very welcoming, enthusiastic and helpful and clearly take a pride in their site and facilities. Good sized hardstanding pitches neatly laid out on level terracing. The site is off the main Leek/Buxton road but we were towards the back of the site and not aware of any traffic noise. Our approach to the site from Hartington and Manifold value was chosen by our satnav and was particularly scenic and 'interesting'. No problem to us with a small Motorhome but those with bigger outfits might want to study their route carefully. Great site ... look forward to staying there again.

Brilliant site

Agree with all positive reviews of this site. Wardens very helpful and friendly and put much effort put into keeping the site looking lovely with lots of flowers and nice touches everywhere. Top marks.

A fine example

Return visit after many years. The site is beautifully maintained and the cleanliness of the facilities is second to none. The site has a history being a Polish camp during the war and some evidence remains and there are information points dotted around the site as are many beautiful flowers and quirky adornments that are quite amusing all provided by the staff who also do a great job of making you feel very welcome. Not forgetting walking the dog walk without a dog it’s wonderful and the scenery is very splendid. All in all a very enjoyable experience it must be as I have never felt moved enough before to submit a review.

Our recent stay

We stayed for 9 days which took uss over August Bank holiday although the site was busy we noticed a number of pitches vacant the weather was good. As we where at the top end of the site never noticed any road noises a small play area also up the top end near the shower block which wasn't being used very much as previous members have said the site seem to attract older children who seem to be out all day with their parents. Toilet block at the top the site was clean could of done with an extra shower and toiled but not really a problem. Dog walk was around the outside of the site, found the warden's very helpfu and friendly. Would we visit again certainly

Found a gem!

Our first visit to Blackshaw Moor and we are eager to return. We liked the layout, the pitches are excellent and level, the facilities are squeaky clean, and above all, the staff are as friendly and helpful as you could ever find, and the site is dog friendly. The site is well located, and if you are walkers you have a large range of options including some that offer a degree of shelter from a wet English summer. On that note, the availability of the fish and chip van on Saturday night was a delight which saved us from what would have been a rain soaked barbeque! Thoroughly recommended.

Nice site

Just had a few nights here. Wardens were nice and site spotlessly clean. This site is more of an adults site as only small park and play area 2( at bottom of site) is unusable. Be aware cleaning times of shower blocks. 10am!! Will be back

The Friendly Site

We have been maybe a dozen times over 35 years. A friend said "Why go ?" there is nothing there. And I am constantly guiding him towards the central Peak District and more adventurous sites. Just leave Blackshaw Moor to those who have discovered an enclave of tranquility. OK the road is a bit noisy, and the slope noticeable. But your time for relaxation starts with oatcakes for breakfast at the Roaches Tearoom, then home cooked lunch at Hulme End, with a gentle (flat) walk along the kind of valley you wish was typical of all English countryside; finishing with an evening meal at the 3 Horseshoes carvery or The Lazy Trout pub. My tip is go outside the main holiday periods, especially when the trees don't have all their leaves. And above all 'Don't suggest to others to come and try it.' Just leave it to those of us who quietly keep returning and quietly enjoy the tranquility. And incidentally, you are likely to be greeted by some of the friendliest wardens I have met in 35 years of caravanning.
