We visited Blackshaw Moor over the Easter weekend. Check in was very organised and the wardens were very friendly. The site is well laid out and all pitches have views of The Roaches.
As previously commented the site is kept very tidy and the two toilet blocks are very clean. There is some noise from the road but it is not intrusive.
Tissington Water is close by and good for a short or longer walk (red or yellow routes) - you'd need to check with them regarding cycling. There are 3 pubs within 1 1/2 miles so all walkable and The Winking Man is only a couple of miles away in the direction of Buxton. For sports fans The Winking Man has BT Sport but they seem to have limited opening times so call first. Apart from the local pubs, the Roaches Tea rooms are well worth a visit - their warm, freshly made fruit scones are to die for.
We left Blackshaw Moor site early due to the heavy snow that was forecast but enjoyed our visit and would visit again if coming to the area another time.
March short break
Stayed two nights in March, just after the heavy snow. The pitches were spacious in a lovely quiet setting. Showers and toilets were immaculate ! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. What more can you ask for ? Would definitely go back again.

Escape on your doorstep
We spent last weekend on this site and it was excellent.
Considering it's location less than an hour from Manchester or Sheffield you'd be mistaken for thinking as you look at the surrounding scenery that it was in the wilds of Wales or Lowland Scotland.
The all gravel pitches were huge and well maintained and the staff allowed us to choose our own. As the site is terraced each one has some view and as the foliage comes back in the summer it will be even more secluded.
The main road which runs past the site was not overly busy and quietened down by early evening.
The staff couldn't have been more helpful and the toilet blocks were excellent with even a drying room for walking clothes provided.
Only down side was local pub didn't allow dogs in at all which is their loss with such a busy site on the doorstep.
We are always looking at travelling to new sites but with such a nice one being so local we will be back even if it's only for first weekend spring break.
A weekend away with the 'beast from the East'
We stayed on this site for a long weekend 16/21 March, first visit to this site. Lovely location with views towards the roaches, we had a warm welcome, settled on our chosen service pitch ready to enjoy a relaxing weekend with our two dogs. The dogs had a great time in the twisting dog walk that goes in and out the trees down a whole side of the campsite.
The beast from the east arrived with snow, high winds and freezing temperatures. The dog walk had 3 foot snow drifts, dogs are not very big. The road to Buxton was closed due to snow, the roads out of Leek were closed due to snow. The A53 was very quiet for a couple of days.
The wardens were clearing paths and scatting salt etc in the late evening which I thought went beyond the call of duty, but they cleared access to toilet blocks and service points. Also salting the steeper slopes on the site road. But the worst part was the water point on the service froze. We had taken our blue supply pipe in overnight, but nothing from the tap in the morning. As we did not expect to need out water roll we left it at home, luckily we have an on board water tank, so to fill this the wardens lent us a watering can. The taps finally unfroze on 20th we had 2 out of our 4 days with water on tap.
With everything that happened, we really enjoyed our stay on this lovely site with friendly helpful wardens. Yes we will stay again but in warmer weather.
As good as it gets!
Despite being a club member for a number of years and living in North Staffordshire all my life, I am ashamed to say that I had not previously stayed on this site! My partner and myself have just had the most relaxing and enjoyable 5 days on one of the spacious fully serviced pitches which gave a fantastic view of the Roaches. The welcome on arrival was as good as it gets .... a highly efficient check in delivered with a genuine warmth and friendliness which set the scene for the entire break. The Peak District has much to offer and besides Leek, the towns of Ashbourne, Matlock and Buxton are within comfortable driving distance. There are an abundance of walks for all abilities nearby and Tittesworth reservoir is just over a mile away with a lovely circular walk of 7km plus a good cafe to end in. A fraction further on is the Lazy Trout pub which combines real ales and superb food in a most picturesque setting ... a visit to this club site won't be complete unless you sample this hostelry! I can't recommend this site highly enough and will be returning again soon.
Snow time
This was our second visit to Blackshaw Moor, lovely site with stunning views great pubs and chip shop in leek, whilst there we had snow and winds and I cannot praise and thank the wardens enough for their hard work clearing the snow from paths and roads, the staff are really friendly and so helpful, we love this site even when it snows it's lovely. Well done to the wardens and thank you
First Caravan Trip
We recently purchased our first caravan and decided to take a trip to Blackshaw Moor Club Site. This site was about an hour and 30 mins away from our house so I could get some towing experience on the way. The welcome we received on arrival was fantastic so helpful and couldn’t do enough for us especially knowing we were newbies. The site is split in three levels all on gravel and all level which for newbies like us was fantastic as we didn’t have any issues leveling off our van. The facilities on site are great lots of access to water and waste as well as a dog wash for muddy paws. There is a small shop on site that sells basic essentials. TV hook up is also on each pitch so if you have a long lead you can plug your TV directly into the sites arial for great reception. The toilet blocks and showers were spotless and had everything we needed. We also discovered a washing up area indoors with three large sinks. If all of the caravan club sites are like this then our caravaning can only get better.
Always a Pleasure
We visited early March18 with our caravan. A lovely site, well maintained with excellent wardens. The site facilities are well kept with two clean and well maintained toilet blocks. Close to all the amenities of the area with plenty of walks nearby. We are returning in April18 and are very much looking forward to the visit.
Campervan Visit March 2018
A very well located site with easy road access as well as ability to access local footpaths straight from the site. Excellent wardens, helpful, friendly and who work very hard to oversee the site, keeping it in excellent condition even in the snow. Upper facilities block, although small was one of the best on club sites - clean and warm with plenty of really hot water. Drying room a bonus, especially in March. Levellers are needed on a lot of the pitches. We look forward to a return visit.
