Well organised site with helpful staff

Stayed here for only one night whilst on route to another location but will definitely be back for a longer stay. A perfect, clean and tidy welcoming site with great facilities and the staff are brilliant too. Perfect location for exploring the local area. .

Well kept site with some drawbacks

On the plus side, this is a well-run site with clean facilities and a decent shop for basics with friendly and helpful staff. There is a pub serving good food 7 or 8 minutes walk away and a nice dog walk around the site. BUT - it is well worth getting to this site as soon as you can after 1pm as the best and most level pitches at the top of the site go first. The road is very noisy at the bottom and some of the lower pitches aren't level, so take blocks if you're going to be late.

Gem of a site

We have stayed on this year a few times over the years, and always find plenty to see, wardens are very friendly. Great place for walking, visit to Dovedale, Bakewell & Buxton all in easy reach, a walk around the reservoir on the door step. Had a very nice meal in The Three Horseshoes pub a few minutes walk from the site. Will return in the future.

Spring Stay at Blackshaw Moor

It must be almost 18 years since we last stayed here but returned for a short stay last weekend. Access is easy and the site managers were very welcoming on arrival. Some of the pitches are in small enclaves and we pitched in one towards the top of the site with views towards the Roaches. There is some road noise which as the site sits just off the A53 it was to be expected. All the pitches were large and there seemed to be plenty of space. I found the top toilet block a bit chilly, but the lower larger block was much warmer, both were kept very clean. There is now a useful dog wash at the top of the site. There is only a small playground for children. There are plenty of lovely walks in the area although some do involve walking along the path on the main road. Ladderedge Country Park in Leek and Rudyard Lake are worth a visit. Leek has plenty of supermarket's for supplies. We had a lovely pub lunch at Ye Old Rock Inn which is close to the site. We tend to use CL'S as a rule, but overall we liked this site and may well visit again in the future.

Simply spot on

The first time using a CAMC site and wow such a refreshing change for everything to work beautifully. Not only that everything was spotless cannot fault this site in anyway except for the stupid WIFI. It is suggested as being free but could I log on the gateway kept timing out. All that said about the WIFI it's a great peaceful site with superb staff, if you have children there isn't much to do onsite so maybe not the best spot for young families. If you want a peaceful break with everything you need working beautifully and superb showers and toilet blocks then book today!

Glad we came

We have been thinking of coming here for years but we are the type of caravanners to return to the same site year after year. We decided to give Blackshaw a go and wow we are so glad we did. From the time of arrival we were met with a pleasant chap who shown me to our pitch number 17 ( we asked for a pitch near the wc block for health reasons) I set it and returned to the reception to be booked in by the lady warden. The site is on 3 or 4 levels it's nice and well kept, some pitches are small buy OK the toilet and shower facilities were spotless (apart from some visitors who think leaving a toilet filthy is OK) but that's not the wardens fault. Leek was brilliant we enjoyed the different choice of shops and the market. Plenty of pubs and restaurants if you like a nibble or a tipple. Overall brilliant and we will most certainly be back. Thank you Blackshaw Moor and its staff.

Fabulous Site!!

We have visited this site a number of times over the years and it never disappoints. The Three Horseshoes pub is just 5 minutes walk away, serving lovely, value for money food.. The wardens are hard working, friendly and helpful and with relaxed shower block closure times of 11:00am, it makes for a lovely relaxing weekend. Thank you team, we will be back!! Andy and Julie

Beautiful site well worth a visit!

We have stayed on this site at least twice a year for 12 years and have been lucky enough to have had a seasonal pitch on several occasions. Whilst not the quietest of sites, as the site is adjacent to the A53 Leek to Buxton road, the views of the Roaches more than makes up for the road noise. The current managers are extremely friendly and keen gardeners as can been seen by a fabulous display on the amenity block as you arrive on site. Around the site there are little personal touches, such as the dovecote and bee hotel. Whilst on site it is also worth following the tour which shows the site as it was at In 1944/5 when it was a Polish refugee camp. This site is a must for walkers and cyclists, with several cycle trails (High Peak, Leek and Manifold and the Maunsel Trail) within a short drive. We give this site 5 gold stars…..

Short stay

We don’t drive off site and spent 4 nights here (3 complete days). Day 1 we walked along the edge of the A53 on a pavement to Leek which took about 1 hour. The walk wasn’t pleasant but in the sunshine on market day Leek was. There is an alternative route along the Churnet Way with less road but it will take much longer. We had better walks with less A53 on Days 2 and 3 to the Tittesworth Reservoir café and around the reservoir and in the other direction to The Roaches Tea Room and around The Roaches with great views. Both cafes are reached on foot in about ½ hr. If we return it will be to explore more of The Roaches in better weather. IMO the A53 is unsuitable for bicycles which rules out cycling from the site. We didn’t see any busses. Road noise from the A53 is intrusive on the lower part of the site but less so higher up. The welcome sheet warns those higher up that they may occasionally be exposed to motor-cross bike noise. Fortunately, we didn’t experience this. Some of the pitches at the top of the site are close to the children’s play area.

September weekend away

This is a lovely site and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. They sell sweet treats amongst other items. On the evening we arrived we went to the office to tell them what pitch we were on and both my husband and daughter were looking at the array of cakes but unfortunately I was unable to have them due to a dairy intolerance. However I persuaded them to have one(which they thoroughly enjoyed). When they returned the site staff had apologised that they didn't have anything for me but if we phone a few days before to let them know then they can get something dairy free. We all thought how nice and caring this was and will certainly do that when we return. A definite re visit to this site.
