Dog owners

This is a well maintained site and the staff are very friendly and helpful. However if you are a dog owner don t go to this site unless you are prepared to travel. There is no dog walking on site but you can use the back gate to enter a quiet lane, turn right, where there is a field which isn't very big.

Lovely site

We first visited this site for three nights at the end of March. The weather was terrible most of the time but it didn't stop us getting out and about. We have two dogs and found the lane at the back to be a nice quiet walk. Although there is a lot of industry in the area it is still a lovely rural site. The wardens were very helpful, explaining things to us. We liked it so much we have just been back for another three night stay. It is a lovelly site, well placed for many things. Just an hour from home for us so I am sure that we will come again.

My first CC site visit as a newbie.

Well, what can I say? What a lovely place to visit for my first experience. I have just purchased my van and wanted to give it a trial run locally. I found the directions to the site spot on. The site is very close to the motorway exit yet far enough to not hear it. Upon arriving I found the wardens really helpful in the office, they informed me of available pitches (with map) along with a few basic instructions as I'm a newbie :-). They told me where the facilities where and they explained how to use the keys. In the office one could also order newsapers and they also sold a few essentials like milk, bread, sugar etc etc. I found the other caravanners really helpful and soon settled in to my one night stay. As for the facilities on site, they were absolutely first class (warm, clean and fresh). I was told they were on par with all CC member sites in so much that they were spotless and well built. There was a small playground on site for the kids. There was some slight noise from the nearby airfield very occasionally throughout the day (not in the night) but the aircraft were generally small and it didn't affect my stay one bit. I am very familiar with Blackpool and can safely say that the location of the site is brilliant for those who want to visit the nearby attractions. In conclusion I would recommend that this site is put on your list of places to visit and I look forward to visiting many other CC member sites in the near future.

Easter at Blackpool South

Recently spent 3 nights here (our second visit to this site). Wardens were welcoming, friendly and helpful, working hard to keep the site and facilities in good order. Unfortunately we felt due to a few selfish families, their efforts were somewhat challenged. There were some unruly children, due to a lack of parental supervision/bad parenting. Some parents/grandparents allowed them do as they pleased. e.g. Causing a danger to themselves and others by cycling at speed in the wrong direction around the site. Shower/toilets were sometimes left "messy"......again, probably because of lack of supervision.  However we did enjoy our stay at the site which is well positioned for visiting the attractive towns of Lytham, St Anne's as well as the bright lights of Blackpool. May we add that the "cycling" problem is not unique to this site....it would be good if parents would realise the dangers, before there is a fatality.

Ruined by the bad warden!!!

Ok, we arrived, all good! Then we had problems with our caravan, our fault, so the next day we had to arrange a service person to come out to fix the issue. We walked our dogs in the morning, a good 2 hrs, came back, ate and then waited for the caravan technician. Once we were up and running we left our exhausted dogs in the caravan, windows open, blinds shut and very relaxed. We headed in to Blackpool, parked up, not cheap at £5 and wandered in to the city. Not half an hour in to our walk we had a call from the site, not friendly, that our dogs had been howling, that everyone in the vicinity had been complaining about us, that they had at least 3 direct complaints, our dogs were in distress, yada, yada, yada! We rushed back in distress ourselves, so worried about our pups thinking they were distraught but at the same time thinking our dogs had never behaved like this before and wondered what could have happened. When we arrived at the site my husband asked me not to drive to the caravan as they would recognise the car but let him creep up. When he looked through the window he saw our dogs in their usual position, lying on their backs, each on a bed, happily passed out after a good walk. The howling was still in the background. When I stayed at the gate the warden of the camp was so rude to me, he told me I had left my dogs distraught, that it was unacceptable, that he had so many complaints and I felt awful, it was only once I drove around to our caravan that I knew it was not our dogs but a neighbouring caravan and the wardens just assumed it was us! That drive to the caravan I thought on no! Everyone is looking at me and the terrible owner I am when I had left my dogs so relaxed. We were basically the youngest couple, with dogs, so when the finger pointed in our direction of course it had to be us!!! I was so upset! It turned out that it was a neighbour's dog that had been howling! The warden had even been to this particulate caravan and seen the dog in a cage, in the end washroom, and still thought it was us! Just didn't look at the pitch number! I went back to the warden, no apology from the small man, dark hair and thick glasses for his INCREDIBLY bad attitude to me, although he knew exactly what happened. It was the lady who apologised, said it was crossed wires!! She had the decency at least to pay us back the parking cost, Thank you! Look at the pitch number please!!! You dragged us back and finally ruined our afternoon and evening, let alone a bad taste in our mouth, we just wanted to leave! The following day the small man saw me, ignored me and let his colleague give me a "good morning", he looked away, embarrassed. Would never go back and it actually put us off the Caravan Club concept. We have decided next to do a less stringent concept, which I hope we enjoy more and they are less jobs-worth, at least apologise for their mistakes, if necessary!!  Bad form Caravan Club!!

Great site

We have been to the site 3 times now and it never lets us down. The site is well maintained and very clean. The site staff are very pleasant and helpful, I tripped the electric on our pitch and was back up and boiling the kettle within minutes of reporting it - No Problem. A great site and look forward to visiting again soon, possibly for the lights.

Good family site

Have just spent a lovely weekend at this site. We found it to be great, the facilities where spotless and the whole site was what I expect from a caravan club site. It was very accessible and was only a 5 minute drive into Blackpool. We'll be back again soon.
