excellent for ferry

Apart from the very high general standards of facilities and friendliness we all expect of our Club, If you are taking the Ferry from Dover to France early morning, then this could not possibly be better!! No need to un-hitch your 'van from your car as the length of the specially provided one night Ferry Pitches are long enough to remain hitched up to facilitate a quick getaway early in the morning. Equally, with a pub providing basic pub grub with exceptional high quality ingredients almost opposite, there is no need to unpack equipment for cooking. It Takes no more than 15 minutes from the site to the Ferry Terminal. A great asset. For longer stays, the site is well presented with decent sized well landscaped pitches maintained to a very high standard by the very friendly helpful team on site. Well done Club for an excellent facility!! Mike and Diane. New to the Club and to caravanning

8 day break

Good clean site with spotless facilities. Whist wardens do their best to ensure early departures are pitched nearer site entrance there were a couple of units hitching up at 5am on the main site. A large turnover of units due to ferry port. Friendly and helpful staff, clean dog walking area. Paid for WiFi on site which was poor to non existent. Disappointing as listed as Gold site prior to arrival but now showing as not available on site page as awaiting arrival of new equipment.

Best site in Kent

I have to admit I'm new to caravanning and this is only my second site but the whole site was clean, well maintained and all the facilities that were stated were there and working even though it is early in the year. We only stayed one night as we were going to the ferry and we chose the site because it was so close to the port. The wardens are brilliant and I cannot thank them enough for the help in getting a novice back on the road in time to catch the next ferry when this idiot managed to not fix the hitch properly and promptly lost the caravan and the site entrance thereby blocking everybody going out. The wardens went out of their way to calm me down and help sort out the problem and my wife and I caught the next ferry at no extra cost and are now on our travels around europe. Thank you again!

Saturday Night Stay March 17

First time as a Caravan Club member and new to the camping scene. We had an absolutely brilliant time in our old camper van at the Black Horse site. The facilities are super-clean and warm as toast. Weather wasn't brilliant, dry but very windy so we were grateful of the warmth in toilets and showers. The site itself is flat and there were many hard-standing pitches which is what we needed. As mentioned in other reviews, there are hundreds of rabbits hopping around and this just adds to the calm and tranquil surroundings. We live in London so coming out to the country is a wonderful treat and this site ticked all the boxes in terms of location and not too far to drive. We visited Folkestone itself by cab (£11) but could have taken the bus which stops outside the pub nearly opposite the site. There is a daily fare if you want to do a round trip, I think just over £5 each. Pub itself (Black Horse) does lovely food and on the day we stayed there was karaoke and a great evening was had by all. I would highly recommend this campsite to anyone who loves camping - I would say it is suitable for families as well as couples. I hope other people have as good a time as we did.

Ok site. Stayed for a week in March 2017.

We stayed for a week in March 2017, wardens were very friendly, and helpful, the toilet blocks were kept spotless, the hard standing pitches were a good size, but it would have been nice to have more grass between pitches, some of the pitches had moss growing on them, and some fence repairs could be carried out, nice and quiet during the week, turns noisey at weekends, would only recommend midweek if you want a piece full break. I've found over the last few years some sites are falling behind some other private sites, it's a pity the club didn't spend the money they wasted changing the clubs name on site improvement .
