My husband and I had a two night stay at Blackhorse Farm, this is the second time we have stayed at this site and will definitely go there again. The site wardens are very friendly, welcoming and helpful. All the facilities were very clean, which cant of been easy as it was a very wet February weekend. We wished we had taken our dogs as there is a nice dog walk on site and a local dog friendly pub, where we enjoyed an evening meal. Highly recommend this site, we wished we could of stayed longer.
Great site and a great long weekend away
We stayed for a long weekend to visit Canterbury and surrounding area - 22/02/18 - 26/02/18
The site was very clean, tidy, quite and the facilities were excellent, clean and warm :)
The dog walk area was clean and kept tidy, large enough for our dog to have a little run around, it was well sheltered by trees, but the ground was still firm and not muddy, which is an added bonus with a dog with white feet ;)
The Warden and staff were very friendly.
We are planning our return later on in the year.
Thanks,
Mat & Sarah
Lovely Warden
Stayed overnight as catching ferry, upon arrival the warden was the friendliest we have ever encountered in all our touring. Showers and toilet block were spotless.
Lovely site and an enjoyable birthday holiday
We decided to run away from impending pressure to hold a 50th birthday party. Black Horse Farm was open, near the sea and far away from being sociable! What we didn't expect was for it to be such a lovely place to be. The wardens on arrival were really friendly, the site was fairly quiet so we had a huge choice of pitches, the toilet blocks were their usual caravan club spotless (the showers in the bottom toilet block are amazing!).
The site is well placed to visit so many things. Round about we visited Folkstone and Dover, Dover is much improved from the last few years o well worth a visit. We also spent time up on the iconic white cliffs, in fact there was so much to see and do within a short drive that we wished we could have stayed all week instead of three days.
Thank you for a perfect birthday break!
Overnight stop
We stayed over on our way to the ferry. We got a very friendly welcome and went onto a ferry pitch. We didn't use any of the facilities as we were only there for a few hours.
The site is convenient for the ferry, only a few minutes drive.
A word of advice, fill up with fuel before going over to France as our fuel is cheaper.
Lovely site
We stayed at Black horse farm for New Year 17-18. The only problem we had was the rain! Lovely site. great facilities, a drying room that was a brilliant touch (not seen one before but that may be because we've never looked). The bus stops outside and goes to Hythe and Canterbury. The Black Horse pub down the road was very friendly, they gave us loads of local information as well and I must mention Quick fit in Folkstone who replaced the faulty valve in our caravan tyre for free. We will be going back at some point in 2018 maybe even for new year.
happy caravaners
what a beautiful site, we stopped here for a 6 nights just before Christmas, we received a warm welcome when we arrived, the information on site was excellent, plenty of room on the pitch, toilet block lovely and warm, 24/7, bus near to entrance, good grocery store across the road, public house 300 yards the road, 10 mins from Folkstone by car, bus to Canterbury every 20 mins well worth a second and third visit, we will be going back.
Clean, friendly, and handy to the ferries
We took the 'van over to Belgium on the ferry, and stayed at Black Horse one night before, and on the night coming back. Our return ferry was cancelled and we had to get onto a later one, arriving after 5pm, but the site warden rang me and told me she left our info in a cabinet and told me the barrier code, so we had no problems despite having to get in and set up in a howling gale! They also put us on the same pitch the 2nd time as the first, so we knew where everything was (a huge plus because of the aforementioned gale). The site was also a relief because of the hardstandings and paved road after grass and tons of mud in Belgium.
Kindness
The two wardens on duty over the Christmas period were so helpful when we found our fridge and freezer had broken down. They offered us the use of their own freezer and also gave details of people who may be able to help repair the defunct fridge.
The Milestone caravan centre at Hawkinge couldn't actually help, but the owner loaned us a fridge to use whilst we were there. He didn't even ask our name and address.
It's such a lovely site with plenty of walking from the footpaths that go from the main road.
We will stay there again.
We would like to say a very big thank you to the wonderful wardens who went above and beyond the call of duty.
A quick stopover before leaving UK for France, Spai and Portugal
We only used the site as a one night stop ever on our way into Europe. We are are however, going to pop back into the site for a few nights when we return to the UK. We intend to use this as a base to visit a few places in Kent. We found it a great site, the facilities are of the usual high standard that we club members come to expect. We only met one warden who was very friendly and helpful. For those wishing to visit this part of Kent, then this site is a must. If you are heading out of the UK, then again a very convenient site to pitch up. We also took advantage of the Black Horse pub for our evening meal. For those with a dog this must rate as one of the most dog friendly pubs you are ever likely to go into. The beer and food was really nice as were the landlord and landlady. There is a handy Sainsburys nearby, enabling you to fill up with fuel and food. If you prefer, a Tesco’s is also close by. Getting to Euro-Tunnel is a breeze.
