Lovely site and great location.
Very disappointed with the check in process.
Stood patiently when 3 families check in ahead of me.
They were all of an older generation and not one of them were asked for a membership card by warden.
I step up to check in and being a younger caravanner, I immediately got asked for my membership card.
All users should be treated the same. Very disappointing.
Two one-night stays
We stayed on a ferry pitch before taking the tunnel the following morning. We then stayed for another night on the return trip, this time staying on a standard pitch. Both times we found the welcome to be friendly and the site clean and tidy. We had a bit of an issue with wasps on the second night but that's pretty normal for this time of year. We found the site to be quiet and we had a great nights sleep each time.
The site is ideally located for the tunnel with it being no more than 10 mins away. Access to the site is easy and there is a big Sainsburys nearby for anything you might have forgotten or if you want to top up on fuel.
I wouldn't hesitate recommending this site if you are looking for somewhere to stay before or after a crossing to the continent.
Good for overnight stop
Stayed one night before Ferry crossing. Ferry pitches are near main road which was busy all through the night. Shower block dated, wouldn’t stay any longer than 1 night.
Great site
Sounded good so we went last September, loved it and went back for another week in October. Just came back, July 2018 booked again for another 9 nights in October this year. Good, dog friendly pub over the road serving decent, reasonably priced grub.
Good for travel to Europe, but also great base for touring
Stayed here for 5 nights, using it as a base for touring Kent - Cantebury, Dover and Folkestone. Also visited Eastbourne, Hastings and Rye.
Many visitors to this site are either heading for Europe or returning - hence a lot of coming and going. But we found the site to be well-run and the facilities are fine.
There is a mini-market across the road. Visitors should also try the Black Horse Pub, just 5 minutes away. We dined there every night (along with our dog Millie) and were impressed with the food and the great atmosphere. Thanks Rocket (aka Basil Fawlty!) and Heidi. You helped make our holiday great!
Convenient for Dover ferry and Canterbury visit
The only CC-campsite of the 10 we visited in May/June were the staff member who checked us in, did not know which pitches have more shadow then others. That surprised us. Another staff member helped us very well when we asked for information about visiting Canterbury by bus. The bus stop is 70 metres from the campsite, costs 14 pounds per person and is less then half an hour. One evening it was very windy and cold. Used by many as a stopp over from/to ferry or channel, but we heard nothing of that during the night or early morning and our pitch was nearby the ferry pitches.
BHF
Coming from M20 directions to Densole reasonably clear but prominent signs for rival campsite distract navigation; easy to make wrong turning at roundabout in village ( 200yds short of sign for club site). Staff at site very dismissive of this comment. A Caravan Club sign next to the other campsite sign would avoid a 5 mile detour! The site itself in all other respects was reasonable.
Convenient for Eurotunnel
Ideal site for overnight stay prior to Eurotunnel crossing. The wardens are helpful, welcoming and friendly. Overnight ferry pitches are very good. The Black Horse Pub across the road does very good food with generous portions. The pitch was clean and tidy and the facilities spotlessly clean. Overall an excellent site.
Great place to stop before crossing channel
Stopped here overnight before a Eurotunnel crossing in the morning. The site is only 10 minutes from the tunnel. Facilities were spotless and staff friendly. Had a hard standing pitch for the Campervan which was a good size for a one night stop. Will definitely be back next time we are off to France. Would also consider getting a late afternoon crossing on the way back and and stopping over and drive home in the morning
Not impressed
Stayed here on a ferry pitch which I requested to be hard standing when I called to pay. Ended up with a muddy pitch at the bottom of the hill by the dog walking around other holiday makers. We must have upset everyone around us with our 6 am leave time - again this was communicated to reception on booking and arrival and we were just told to be 'as quiet as we can'! The water logged and muddy pitch was a disaster for a night, it was stressed to us that we had to park close to the blue peg as possible, when in fact it would have been better to park in the less muddy bit of our pitch, we ruined a good pair of shoes squelching around.
Facilities were very dated, which would have been fine if they were clean but they were not. Would not return.
