Nice clean site. Only 39 pitches so small. Showers and all facilities very clean, well maintained.
Quiet too, didn't notice excessive aircraft noise.
Wardens very helpful, approachable and easygoing.
Lovely walks from site and only 10 minute walk to village with 3 pubs, butchers, bakers and shop.
Would return.
Was I on the same Campsite
Having just read the last two reviews in which members were complaining about aircraft noise and caravan washing at Ashridge Farm, I was beginning to wonder if I had been on the same campsite as my experience of it was entirely different. Granted that there is some airplane activity but as it seems to be aircraft on approach to Luton they are virtually coasting along. The sound was hardly intrusive and certainly not at night. They seemed to finish by about 11 o'clock at the latest.
As for caravan washing, again that was happening but was very quiet. I could barely hear the power washer and I was on the same grass area as the person complaining about that.
My own experience of Ashridge Farm was very positive. It is quiet, very clean and tidy. The wardens do an excellent job. The site is ideally located for visiting many interesting places such as the Shuttleworth Collection, Wimpole Hall and, of course, the Imperial War Museum at Duxford. If you go there you need good walking shoes and allow at least a whole day to see everything, possibly two days if you are like me and want to read every information board.
We spent a most enjoyable week at Ashridge Farm and would certainly recommend it.
terrible air traffic noise
It isn't peaceful at all. There was terrible air traffic noise. Even in the night. We could't sleep.

Just Don't Pitch Near The Caravan Wash Bay
We stayed at Ashridge Farm for 3 nights over the bank holiday weekend. This is our third visit to this site and were looking forward to another peaceful weekend away. On arrival, we had the choice of hard standing or a grass pitch, this time we opted for a grass pitch because the weather was glorious and from past experience, getting pegs into the ground on the hard standing pitches is a bit of a nightmare. The first couple of days was great, it was nice and peaceful and spent we nearly all of our time sat out in the sunshine. It wasn't until the day before we were due to leave that things took a bit of a downhill turn. Again we were sat outside reading in the sunshine when someone the other side of the hedge behind our pitch started to hose down their caravan in the storage yard. The noise was awful and an hour and a half later, he was still at it. When the breeze picked up, it meant we were also getting wet as the water spray was blown in our direction. I tried to get the chaps attention but he either couldn't hear me over the noise of the jet spray on the caravan or was ignorantly ignoring me. I decided to speak to reception to be told that it is in fact a wash down bay and was told that there is nothing that they could do about it. The storage yard at this site is large so why on earth would you put a wash down bay backing onto site holiday pitches? I was offered the option to move but that wasn't ideal as we had everything set up. We were not advised on arrival that there was a wash down bay there and it wasn't shown on the site map either. Anyhow, about 15 minutes later the chap washing his van had finished and then appeared to move his van away from the area. Peace at last we thought .... until another caravan owner moved another vehicle onto the bay and proceeded to wash it down. Haven't people got anything better to do on a lovely bank holiday weekend? At this point we gave up on the peace and quiet and took a walk to the local pub. To be honest, this experience has put us off visiting this site again, it really ruined the weekend for us.
First but not last visit
A really lovely site, very relaxed atmosphere with great wardens. Level, good sized pitches with great dog walking nearby. The village of Ashwell is an easy walk and very pretty. Would highly recommend this site for peace and quiet and we will return.
Great little site!
Stayed for two nights over Easter weekend, expecting a busy noisy site. Busy yes but noisy not a bit. Lovely and peaceful, friendly, clean, everything we could wish for. Easy walk into the village for shops, pubs and eating. Choice of three pubs doing food - not impressed with the service in the Bushel & Strike, where our booked table was knowingly given to another couple causing us over 45 minutes wait.
Showers lovely and warm, no push buttons, fully controlable and plenty of room. Never had to wait even at Easter.
Can't fault this site and will be back to try some of the local walks.
Great site
We stayed here for 5 days at the end of February 2019 I must say what a lovely clean well kept site and the wardens were very helpful and friendly . We have been coming here for 10 years and the site just gets better . Lovely walks in the area , plenty of pubs in the village a good local bakers ,butcher's , chemist and shop , There is a Mc Donalds down the road a new Aldi and a Mark's and Spencer's foodhall what more do you want .
No lie in here!
We stayed at this site during half term week to be near a close relative we had not seen for some time. We had two older children and our dog. The site was ok to find, just be aware the road leading to the entrance is quite narrow so take it slow. The directions on the website are accurate as you must not go through the village proper.
We arrived early which we are quite often and we are happy to wait. We are happy to take our dog for a walk and the walking here is excellent. Turn left out of the site and you can walk for miles safely.
However our welcome was not that friendly. Being a friendly chap I went up to the warden to say hello to be greeted by a sharp, retort ‘I’ll see you later’ so we immediately felt like a hindrance. We were dismissed. What a pain to be 25 mins early.
When we did check in it was ok we had our dog on a lead but were told when she approached an area at the back of the small office to keep her away as there was food there. Again not that welcoming. We didn’t get the impression these were dog people. How you make people feel is so important especially if you are just being friendly. Throughout the week there were some minor interactions which made us feel like school children about to be scolded by the male warden and our children were quite intimidated by him.
The site was clean and pitches good, toilets and showers were adequate in the Womens though only two showers so there can be a little waiting. The gents showers were not great with one having little pressure and the other had an uncontrollable temperature.
We found the site quite noisy with a neighbour for three days deciding to take his toilet cassette and then waste and then filled the water when the time started with a five. In the evenings there is some plane noise as the area seems like a stacking circle for Luton Airport. Also on the one day when we did try to lie in until 10 am the warden decided to mow the lawn areas including behind our caravan (pulling up our dog stake, not putting it back and moved our extended electrical cable) so that put paid to that. Surely this type of activity should happen in the afternoon when people are on holiday?
Also the village has a small well stocked pharmacy and a sweet coffee and trinket shop called Rhubarb and Mustard. Go out of the site, turn right then left by the war memorial.
While we were there a new Aldi opened on the nearby dual carriageway which was ideal and there’s a big Tesco a roundabout further on towards Royston.
Royston is a fine little town and it’s fish and chip shop was lovely. Fine for a mooch around.
As the weather was great for February we went for a beach visit to Wells Next The Sea which is about two hours north. There is a great walk, working harbour and some lovely shopping.
Overall we would come back if visiting someone in that area and in general terms it’s good with our dog. However it’s not the friendliest place in our experience and not set up for bigger families.
Nice quiet site
Lovely site, friendly staff, clean and tidy excellent all round. Ideal for a couple looking for a quiet couple of days with nice pubs a short walk away.

Great Site and facilities with a very warm welcome from Wardens.
January 2019: Our first Caravan Club site Visit and it started with a very warm welcome at reception from the warden's. Site is flat and very clean with nice and warm toilet /shower blocks, with it being January and a small amount of snow on the ground. Nicely located near train line for a easy visit to London. We will be back for sure. Cheers all Stephen and Jackie
