Ashridge Farm

A really pleasant little site in a lovely village. We were on the grass area, only eight vans with a nice empty space left in the middle, ideal safe spot for the grandchildren we saw staying with their grandparents. There are some great walks direct from the site, lots of wildlife to see. We loved the walk to the village, three pubs, a shop, café, museum, butcher etc. Interesting church with medieval graffiti, the source of the River Cam with very beautiful chalk springs and a good village cricket pitch. Worth checking what's happening in the village as there are various events. One of those sites we wished we had nearer to us!

Gorgeous site and super-helpful staff!

Just stayed here for 3 nights - what an absolute gem of a site! We don't live too far away but just wanted to escape for few nights and will definitely be coming back - originally booked for 2 nights but extending it for an extra night. It's in such a peaceful setting, the facilities are spot on given its size and the staff are so friendly and helpful and the village is a very short walk away. Lots of longer and interesting walks in the area, too. Thank you Ashridge Farm - we will be back!!!

Can only be recommended as a stopover

The site is small and well maintained. It offers no more than a CL. There are two showers so we just used our own. The village is lovely, we watched a cricket match, but really there is very little in the area just very "beige" towns. Anywhere of interest is too far for motorhomers and really would be better off staying at a site nearer these places. As an overnight stop it is ok, but as a holiday destination forget it. It is overpriced for what it offers. This site is owned by a commercial enterprise and this site does not offer value for money.

Mid-Week Mini Break

Great mid-week stay to meet up with friends who had come down from The Midlands. Lots of space on each pitch, quiet. Warden was extremely welcome and very funny! Easy walk into the village with it's choice of three pubs and lovely old church. Only a few miles from me but I will go again as, once inside, you could be anywhere. Lovely.

One of the best sites the club has for a relaxing stay in quality surroundings

This site is excellent , made so by two of the most helpful wardens you will find ( Terry and Sandy). The site is located in a small Hertfordshire village with options for walking , cycling and running and dependent on your activity requirements . The site is well maintained and located in a relaxing setting. Royston, Baldock and Wimpole Hall are nearby and Cambridge is within easy distance making Duxford Air museum a must visit for us. It is one of our favourite sites.

YEAR ON YEAR SATISFACTION

To say this is a lovely site, is an unkind understatement. It is a fantastic lovely, well managed , inviting Site. The wardens are welcoming and have gone out of their way to make sure our needs are well met. Personally I prefer the front grass, but is loads of hardstanding too, we have been coming now for three years and love it everytime.

Very pleasant one night stay

Stayed here for just one night following a hospital appointment. Lovely quiet site. Facilities very clean. Nice dog walk up the lane. The best thing about the site though is the charming and helpful wardens.

A very nice, well kept site.

We have just returned home after 18 nights at this lovely place. The site is very small and is very quiet although during one Sunday morning we did hear some ‘crowd noise’ from what we guessed was possibly a small sporting event taking place nearby. It did not spoil our stay. The village is very close and is easily reached on foot. There are a few pubs within a short distance of each other, we only dined at The Three Tuns but we would not choose to visit this pub again. We enjoyed being free to simply turn left out of the site and walk along Icknield Way which is just off the site. The countryside is amazing. Because the site is so small the shower blocks have only three privacy cubicles, two shower cubicles and two toilet cubicles in both the male and female shower blocks. The site is very well maintained, and the Wardens are very efficient and very friendly. They are also very, very helpful. This was our first visit to the site and without a doubt we will be returning when possible.

Excellent!

We love this site and have stayed on many occasions. It's a very peaceful site, the access is great and the space between the pitches is generous. The quality and cleanliness never falters, thanks to the extremely hard work of the dedicated and friendly Wardens! On this trip however, we were dismayed by the thoughtless leaving of showers running and the fact that some don't seem able to clean up after themselves or their dogs. The site is extremely well situated for trips to a wide variety of places, such as Cambridge [the park and ride is only a 20 minute drive away]. There's also Wimpole Hall and other NT properties not too far away - all well worth a visit. Hitchin is a little gem of a market town and Letchworth Garden City is also worth a visit [the museum is very interesting]. The three pubs in the village are all good, we particularly like The Rose & Crown and The Three Tuns - good food and choice of beers. We also recommend Crumps, the village butchers, who have an excellent choice of homemade pies / cheeses etc. The Village Magazine [on sale in the Warden's office] is always worth a read as Ashwell is very lively and there's usually something going on.
