Weekend

Very quite and peaceful site, staff very friendly and welcoming. The only fly in the ointment was that the access road was closed and took another hour to get there, not the sites problem but when we left the road was open and would now definitely go back.

Peaceful stop on our way home

We spent 3 nights in November at this site on our way back home after almost 2 years of travelling in Europe in out motorhome. The site is set in a peaceful location with excellent, clean facilities. It's perfect for a trip to London although we didn't actually go anywhere! Perhaps next time. The wardens and assistant wardens were all lovely, very informative and friendly and the information hut was full of places to visit, the cost of taxis and train fairs and menus for local takeaways. Plus there is a book exchange/book sales section with a great selection. We decided to have an indian takeaway on our last night and it was delicious. We originally tried one recommended by the warden but they were unable to deliver that evening, so we used the Vojan instead and were really impressed. We had a set meal for two and there was absolutely loads of it. It would easily feed three people. They were happy to deliver to the site. There are plenty of walks from the site which are featured in the information hut, if you like a bit of exercise. All in all, a super site, well maintained and very friendly.

Good peaceful base for exploring central London

We stayed for 6 nights as a base to explore central London and Brighton.  It was perfect for this, a peaceful base from which to explore.  Wardens were extremely friendly and couldn't be more helpful. For London, Coulsdon South is the nearest station, right on the edge of Zone 6 so you can contactless card/Oyster card to travel.  30 minutes into London Bridge or London Victoria - perfect.  Easiest option to get to the station is by cab - £6 each way or £10 for a 5+ passengers.  Parking is near impossible at Coulsdon South station. Brighton was less than an hours drive away, so ideal too. There's a childrens play area on site, wardens office sells shop essentials, it's peaceful, wooded countryside surroundings yet with nearby Coulsdon and Caterham within easy reach for shops including Tesco and Waitrose. This site is so good, as you can see from other reviews, many choose to stay here for a long time - I imagine all pay their pitch fees though, and this didn't cause us any problems.  Likely contributes to the quiet and peaceful surroundings with people out most the day if there at all.

Well Kept site but how residential is it?

Good Site offering clean facilities which are well looked after by friendly wardens, although two shower blocks for 160+ pitches and only one open while we were there? Residential? Well there are number of seasonal pitches which look as though the caravans have not moved for several years and have their own store cabinets adjacent! How do they get them year after year when I thought seasonal pitches were up for a ballot! The barriers are closed between 11pm and 7am so the car park is often full mostly with works vans who are all gone by 8am and I even saw one lady leaving the site with her child in school uniform! As another reviewer I also asked if I could use the LNA pitch to leave early on my departure but was told no as they are frequently in use. I didn't see anyone using them for the 5 nights I was there - why does the CC have to have such a regimental approach, surely the wardens would know of the possibility of people arriving late and there are 3 pitches and it was out of high season? Otherwise a good site which considering the closeness to London is a very peaceful place in the countryside.

Welcoming and well kept

We use this site regularly to visit family, friends and nearby attractions - Wisley being one. The staff are always very welcoming and helpful and the site is a credit to their hard work. Despite proximity to the motorway network the site is relatively quiet with just a hint of background noise. The walks in the local woods and farm land are pleasant and the nearby shopping in Caterham etc makes any stay very easy.

So Good

This is a very good site with excellent facilities and on our visits this year the staff were very helpful and pleasant. We use this site mainly as a stop over to the channel crossings but is location is ideal for visiting the wealth of attractions in the local area.

Another nice stay

We have been to this site several times and have always been impressed by how clean and tidy it is kept. We arrived early but as there were spaces we were allowed to pick our pitch and set up. We had two of our grandchildren with us and they had a great time. The wardens were very helpful and friendly and we will certainly be visiting again.

Great couple of nights

Stayed 23-24/10, arrived 1930 hours in the dark, met by a lovely warden who was polite and efficient, the following morning, using the site as a base to head into London I popped into reception to find out details of taxis who could take us to the train station, again the same warden was there, nothing was too much trouble and she used the site phone to call us a taxi, £6 to the station. We arrived back at the site in the dark and left mid morning after the last night so didn't get to see a huge amount of the site, but it was up to the normal high standards of cleanliness and apperence. I only saw the 1 warden throughout my stay, I couldn't fault her, she went out of her way to help and assist.

The Wardens

Have stayed on this site on many occasions. However, on this visit we were met by the most unfriendliest and unhelpful warden. We were an hour early and she took great delight in telling us we would have to wait an hour and quoted the "book".  In that hour we walked around the site and found there were at least 8 empty pitches around the toilet block alone. On checking in we asked whether on our last day we could stay an extra couple of hours, the reply was absolutely not we are fully booked.  We asked if we could pay for an extra night, the answer was absolutely not.  We asked whether we could move the caravan off the pitch into the overnight area and was told no you will have to go to the site at Fareham which is near Portsmouth.  We then asked whether they could keep us in mind if they had a cancellation.  The next day we checked and were told no, the next day we checked and were told no.  We went to our daughter's house near the site, went on line and hey presto, there were vacancies on the site, so we booked an extra night online just so we could stay an extra couple of hours. The last time we were at this site, there were different wardens.  We asked then if we could stay the extra couple of hours, the reply was, we are fully booked but we are a big site and we will be able to accommodate you !!!  Its a shame it didn't happen this time.  It upset our holiday and we will not be returning.

Lovely Site

It's a lovely clean site! Although I was disappointed that I was not allowed to was my caravan in the caravan wash bay! I was told it was for seasonal pitch holders only! Sad as that is why the camping club is known to be member friendly & not the caravan club!!
