Easter Break.

We are always given a warm welcome by the wardens of this site . They are friendly and chatty and this Easter they put on an Easter Egg hunt for the children. Even though we had a downpour the hunt was still on . We used our bikes and managed to do  Geocaching in the surrounding countryside and in nearby Merstham, where there is also the local pub for food and drink all day. A great site for a peaceful break .

Inside the M25

Another visit to Aldersteath Heath and much has been mentioned about not following Sat Nav along Dean Lane by the coffee shop.Very peaceful considering it is situated inside the M25'with large hardstanding pitches.Grass are available when conditions allow.London is reachable via nearby railways stations. Worth pointing out and nothing to do with the site is Dean Lane where you do a left from Sheppards Hill,is terribly rutted and pot holed so caution is required, just reduce speed and you will be fine.

It's a Club Site!!!

What more can you say, a typical Caravan Club site, standard selection of gravel and grass pitches, bog standard toilet/shower blocks. A nice site though, in a nice setting, plenty of grass areas.  Site is quite noisy, local aircraft and plenty of gunfire!! Your choice of pitch is greatly reduced due to the large number of "permanently" used pitches, most of which were unoccupied for the weekend of our visit - these pitches appear to be "seasonal", and/or used as a residence by "workers" - shame as these tend to occupy the nicer pitch locations. As I understand it, the "permanent" pitch usage seems to stem from days gone by - come on CC - move them on!!!!!  - or move them to less favourable pitches!!!!!!

local site

This is our 2nd visit and the staff are always friendly and helpful.  The site is well maintained and has lovely pitches in tree areas and big open pitches.  Has two good play areas and space for everyone to move around.  The washrooms are clean and warm.

One Night Stop

Only stopped one night on way home from short break in Basingstoke.  Very pleasant site with helpful wardens.  Will probably return to do the walk which we feel would be lovely in the spring/summer. DO NOT APPROACH BY SAT NAV.  Use the directions in the club book.  We came in the opposite direction and met the world and his wife doing the school run.  We managed but a larger motorhome or caravan would have trouble.

half term break

Hi just back from a week long break at this great site, conveniently placed to get to london from Coulsdon south train station (zone 6) which is a 10 min drive away. The site itself is very spacious with two large toilet blocks, good information room and helpful wardens, as previously stated follow the handbook directios and avoid entering dean lane at the starbucks entrance, one last thing keep a lookout for the local parakeets worth spotting

Surprisingly Peaceful and Loads to Do

This was our second weekend at Alderstead Heath, there is so much to do round and about that we wanted to come back and we will be returning again. The first thing I think I should say is that the directions in the book are spot on, don't use your sat nav, and get a map as I thought the reason it told us not to use a sat nav was to stop us turning right across the busy four lane A23, but to continue further to a roundabout to make a safe U turn. So we did this and then followed the sat nav which told us to turn left by Starbucks and took us up an extremely narrow lane with few passing places and angry locals fed up with caravans making a wrong turn. So go past Starbucks, take the right split to the A23 south and take the next left about a mile or so further along the road, it's easy once you know. Anyway, the site itself is brilliant! It is really big and superbly laid out so you get the feeling of being on a smaller site. The welcome from the wardens was fabulous, they are probably the best humoured we have encountered and extremely helpful.  The toilet block was immaculate, it's being updated this year but it's got allot of life left in it yet and so clean with lots of lovely hot water and powerful showers.  Back to the site itself, it's like staying in a parkland, lots of space and wildlife and so peaceful, we expected it to be noisy but we only just heard the motorway once when the wind had changed but it wasn't intrusive at all.  And for things to do there is too much to choose. We think we could stay once a month for the rest of the year and still not get tired of choosing where to go.  So take care with the directions, consult a map first and stay at Alderstead Heath.

A Rural Location

Stayed here for two nights over last weekend, site is in a very rural location and is very quiet. The main thing when going to this site is, please do not use sat nav as it will bring you in at a very narrow part of Dean Lane, the directions in the Club handbook are spot on so please follow them. Seems to be a strange road layout coming down from the M23, the site itself is indeed very peaceful with a feeling of great space all around. The only real drawback for us with a large motorhome was not having a car with us, I felt the roads outside not suitable to walk anywhere as there are no footpaths, so make sure you have all your shopping with you. All in all a very good site, good proximity to London and surrounding areas, but limited with no car.

Lovely peaceful site

We had never thought of staying at Alderstead Heath before because being inside the M25 we imagined it to be noisy, built up and generally urban - we could not have been more wrong! The site is in the middle of the countryside, there is no sign of the motorways or the proximity to London at all. It's very peaceful and extremely quiet round about. The site itself is very big but well laid out so that you don't feel as though you're on a large site. The wardens are super friendly and very welcoming indeed. I made a wrong turn on the way in and had to phone for directions and they saved the day with their local knowledge of bushes, gateways and forks in the road to help me find my way. One thing, DO NOT turn off the A23 by Starbucks! I adhered to the directions in the book about not using sat nav, however I assumed this was because you had to drive up the A23 and make a U turn using a roundabout instead of cutting across a dual carriageway, so once I'd gone round the roundabout I followed the sat nav, turned up by Starbucks and instantly found myself on a single track lane with low overhanging trees! The correct and much safer way in is to continue further down the A23 (taking the right hand slip in the road at the junction with the M23) and turn left by the pub that's now an Indian restaurant.

The toilet block was spotless, even though it is one of the older type it didn't matter one bit, it was superbly warm and the showers are really powerful. Overall we were very impressed and hope to come back very soon - following the proper directions this time!
