I have based myself here for five years whilst looking after grand-children living locally. It has always been adequate but has been greatly improved over the last 12-18 months . I have just returned from a two week stay and really noticed the numerous small changes that the management have introduced - hanging baskets, a dog centre, a bench for awaiting taxis , new signs , small garden tables , small shop and uncut areas for wildlife for example . Coupled with an extremely welcoming and helpful staff team this is a site I would now visit even if I wasn't visiting family.

Really improved this year
We have been coming to this site for years as our daughter and family live nearby. So much better this year. Lots of little improvements, benches, flowers, dog treat station etc have made a real difference. And a warm welcome from Tina and her colleagues. Spotless facilities and well tended grounds. 11 out of 10 I reckon! Just a shame they couldn’t sort the weather as well!

A fabulous site with lots of lovely little touches
This is our first time back to this site in five years. It was a pleasant surprise to see how well it's being looked after by the new management. It used to be one of our favourite sites... and thanks to the new team that are running it, this site is back up there in our favourites again. The campsite is extremely well organised with spacious pitches. Lots of thought and attention to detail have gone into all the little things that make this a great site. From the
outside games of chess and connect four, the information room with books, dvds, local maps and walks and take away menus for local food deliveries and the 'recycling Table of Woe' . The dog treat station was an absolute favourite with our dog. The bathrooms are spotless and well maintained. The campsite was quiet and peaceful and very well organised. It's in a great location with easy access to many areas. I cannot recommend this site enough. We absolutely love it here and look forwards to coming back again soon. Thank you Alderstead Heath Caravan and Motorhome Club for a wonderful stay.
A haven for visiting London
Stayed for a long weekend to visit our son in London.
It is clearly a site that is being turned around by a great team of wardens.
Loved the whole relaxed feeling on site with the grass a little bit longer - so good for the wild life.
Was very surprised at how quiet it was, i thought there might have been a lot of road noise. If i strained my ears and really concentrated i could just about make out a bit of traffic noise somewhere!
Occasional helicopter but not at night.
The mature trees all over the site were an absolute joy providing shade and views.
Well done team, keep up the good work and we will be back v soon.
Been caravaning for over 50 years with the Caravan Club.
Very convenient location
I booked this site as it is only a short walk from Pippin and Gile Bushcraft and Foraging - where I spent a lovely day learning how to weave baskets in the woods. I can definitely recommend.
The facilities were clean and the site nice and peaceful.

Love this site
We just purchased our motorhome and we wanted to try it out for a few days so we booked into the site of Alderstead Heath, What Delightful place, very Clean! Very well stocked shop , What can I say? Tina and the whole team were outstanding throughout our stay very helpful very welcoming and nothing was a problem., I’d like to say we will be back ASAP and what a great idea having the fish and chip van and the pizza van and another night. Maybe you need to rethink the pizza one but the fish and chip van was perfect. I wanted skinless fish, The guy stood there and skin in front of me absolutely beautiful food thank you guys Allen Lisa and Family, See you soon

Overall the impression was of a unloved site.
Not the best club site we have visited, when we booked in we were not told that the bottom toilet block was not in use, so after we had set up near it, we were faced with a longer walk to the top block ( which was kept in good condition by the staff). However this could not be said of the site in general, the grass between the hard standings was very long (as it was the grass pitches). There was weeds growing on all the hard standings.
The approach drive was in a very bad state of repair, it certainly did not need the speed humps the pot holes did that.
Returning visitor
We try to visit at least 3 times a year for long weekends/mini breaks as it is only 16 miles from home, well 19 miles once you've accessed the site by 'doing a u-turn' at the roundabout on the A23 (London bound), just past Harwoods JLR garage :). The Site Directory used to recommend this route by leaving the M25 at junc 7 onto the M23 London bound/Hooley as I personally think it is easier than negotiating junction 8 Reigate Hill. Obviously NEVER enter the site up Dean Lane, very narrow and steep, unsuitable for caravans, MOHOs and trailers.
We pitched up on the top part of the site close to the top facilities block (the only one open at the moment), the site was tranquil and the site management were very friendly (Gareth in particular) and welcoming and it was great to see a small shop in the main reception once more. We experienced very little if any road noise from the M23/M25 on our pitch, the odd helicopter came across no doubt heading to Redhill aerodrome.
The site is a little remote in terms of walking access to places to eat and drink, there is a small convenience store in Netherne-on-the-Hill which is about a 15 min walk away through pleasant fields and woodland. We often stock up before getting to site or when we pop out, as the weather was amazing we had BBQ's and homecooked pizzas all done outside. The site would benefit from visiting food vans on regular Fri and Sat nights, but understand if occupancy of the pitches is low then it might not be the best place for plenty of business. A few tent campers were there over the weekend we stayed in mid-May 2024.
As the grounds of the site are so large and good walks immediately from the site into the North Downs and Happy Valley then it is a great site just to relax at and walk from without using the car.
One thing we were surprised at is why the Club no longer allows seasonal pitches at this site?
Visit out of season
We visited over a long weekend in late April and were surprised how empty the site was. 4 grass pitches and 26 hardstands in use. That meant we had loads of space. I would not like to visit in peak season because some of the grass pitches look very close to some of the hardstands. April is a pleasant time to visit when the bluebells are in flower in the patches of trees around the site.
The site seemed devoid of people. Several of the pitches had work vans that weren’t there during the day. It’s the first time I’ve been to a Club site that didn’t have a friendly atmosphere.
My main negative point is access. We booked the site because it is so close to the M23 and M25; you hear the constant roar of the motorways because the M23 is only half a mile away. But you have to drive several miles to get to the motorways. We tried several routes to/from the motorways but all seem circuitous.
