Standards

We visited this site in the last 7 days and the standard of the site is not what I am used to as a member of some years, so much so that we shortened our stay from 4 nights to 2. There are some pitches on this site that would appear to be occupied by residential occupiers, with large caravans, children, dogs and lines of washing. After reading the reviews and seeing for myself, I did not feel comfortable, therefore we shortened our stay. The club needs to review this site, as it is not up to the usual standards expected and at a cost which is quite high. Other visitors should also be aware that the cost of a wash in the laundry is £6 and not £4 as advertised on the website

Recent Visit

We spent a very pleasant few days here. The staff were friendly and the site was clean and tidy. Although we chose a pitch with a hard standing we noticed some of the grass pitches were very secluded with patches of blue bells and we will stay on one of those on our next visit. Greatly appreciated the dog wash as we had a few muddy walks.

Still not improved

We visited for the coronation weekend. having been here several times over the last year the standards have not improved. The site grounds are clean and well kept. The dog area is lovely with a shower to wash them if its muddy. That is where the positive part ends. The female toilets are awful, the toilet seats do not fit properly and the disabled shower has water pouring down the part where it should be connected to the main pluming. they also have an awful smell and are not very clean. The managers do not communicate well with each other or their guests they give you very mixed messages Having a motorhome and a car to get through the barrier and one access card which only allowed one vehicle through proved difficult when it came to leaving.. on visiting the office on the day we were leaving we were told that if we didn't obey the rules, which was not consistent with wat her colleague had said on arrival, we would be disciplined regarding the barrier. There is clearly a security issue at this site as on arrival crime reference numbers were being given to a lady regarding caravan and motorhome break-ins. what a shame as this could be a lovely site.

Falling standards

We have visited this site 3 to 4 times year over the past 7 years and have noticed recently that the normally high standard of the site is falling. The site is in an ideal location for visits to both family and London and open year round. The site is used by a wide cross section of people including a large use of seasonal pitches. We have noticed this year a change in the management and a general lack of the club rules being observed. This includes site speed limits and routes not being followed, parking in restricted places, children playing to toilets and laundry room late at night and dogs being taken into the toilets. In addition 3 of the female wc cubicles have been out order for at least 9 months. This becomes a problem when the second toilet block is shut over autumn/winter. With the heavy use of the toilet facility they should be inspected/tidied more than once a day. The club should review and act to bring the standard of this site up the expectation of its members. We always enjoy this peaceful site and look forward to future visits. The site management staff are always helpful and friendly and should be supported fully.

Very pleasant site

Lovely site set among loads of trees. Only stayed here as a stopover but would consider returning for a relaxing break. Wardens were super-friendly and the facilities were spotless.

Happy first time camper

I stayed at Alderstead for four wonderful nights. It was my first experience staying on a Club Site, and found the site to be well maintained, peaceful with good size pitches, and exceptionally clean facilities. The staff where all wonderfully helpful and welcoming. A heartfelt thank you. I truly look forward to my next stay.

Spacious site surrounded by woodland. We were grateful for a large grass pitch, in a shady spot as it was very hot for our visit. Despite being busy the site was very peaceful. A perfect stopover, close to M25.

Highly recommend this site

Please don't be put off by the couple of reviews about this site being taken over by travellers! We have just had an extremely peaceful weekend here and the site, wardens and facilities are all of a high standard you would expect from a club site. The location is great for walks around the South downs, the facilities are very well maintained and there is a good variety of grass and hard standing pitches. The wardens are very friendly and helpful. Perfect for families or couples and a very pleasant walk to the nearest pub, The Fox (great food!). A wonderful site, we will definitely return!

Great wardens

This is a large site with a mixture of campers I have not seen on other sites. Not all were holidaying. This makes it an interesting place to stay but did get quite noisy in the evenings although it was not too late when they went quiet. It is very well kept by a great team of wardens although they battle with infrastructure issues such as tired showers and blocked drains. The wardens were very caring and professional to me when I had a fall and went out of their way to make sure I was OK. There are some lovely walks in the area and easy links to other towns and places of interest. I used it to visit friends and family, found a lovely quiet corner and had a good stay. Apart from my fall !!
