In need of a long-overdue upgrade

We have been coming to Alderstead Heath for some six years now - and little has changed.    It now has a tired look and feel to it.  The current work in progress should improve matters and the facilities blocks refurbishment - scheduled, I understand, for this winter are really necessary. Alderstead Heath, being so conveniently located just off the M25 is a 24/7 site.   The wardens do their best but the cleaning of the facilities just once a day is insufficient - they really need attention at least twice a day. I understand the problems with broadband provision but the WiFi service is really unfit for purpose at peak times. Notwithstanding all of this, the site has great potential if it were only kept up to the standard of many other sites.

Brilliant site for access to London

This was our second visit to this site. The previous occasion was in the winter and we had not noticed then what a glorious site this is. It is hard to believe you can find such a peaceful site like this so close to the M25. It is really spacious, well laid out and surrounded by lovely trees. Facilities are excellent and the wardens extremely pleasant. A taxi took us to Coulsdon South station where we were able to catch a train straight to London Bridge. All very simple. We will return.

Great site

This was our second visit to this site over the past two months. The staff are very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The only issue we had was the shotguns going off around the site till 9 pm which freaked our dogs out. We do appreciate that this is nothing that the Caravan Club can address as its out of their control.

Great site

From the first welcome to the last goodbye, all staff were so friendly and helpful and the site was spotless, including the toilets and showers. Great areas for kids to play too. One of the wardens was also really helpful when we got in a spot of bother unhooking our caravan - he couldn't have been more helpful. Thanks!

A Huge Site

July 2016. Pitches OK. Some on grass, some on gravel, some level and some sloping. We had standard pitch with awning. There was no TV aerial connection on the post, just electricity, but the caravan aerial picked up good signal. The toilet and shower block was disappointing. There are 2 toilet/shower blocks for over 200 pitches and although we never had to queue, they were always busy. The cleanliness of these blocks wasn’t up to usual Caravan Club standards, and we attributed that to the amount of use they get. We felt that cleaning twice daily would be appropriate. Our pitch was close to the toilet block but it seemed that some pitches would be quite a walk to the nearest block, not so good for the infirm but we did notice a pitch close to everything which was reserved for the disabled. Some of the toilets in the Ladies section were not secure to the floor and rocked. The other thing that irritated us and was totally beyond the control of the club site, was the congested narrow roads in the vicinity. Everywhere we went was congested, many of the roads narrow and all of them with drivers who needed to be somewhere by yesterday. That’s a first for us. Use the directions in the club handbook to get there. Sat nav will take you up a two way lane just wide enough for one vehicle. We chose this site because it was close to a place we wanted to visit but will look for an alternative next time.

Brilliant Dog Walks

Spent 2 nights at this site in June 2016. The thing that blew me away were the dog walks! Wow. Nestled in the middle of no where, no noise from motorway or roads, the actual site Dog Walk situated just by the entrance, was a wonder of paths and woodland, leading to Happy Valley which I never quite got to, because of an elderly dog. THEN...there is a Public footpath just opposite the main gate that goes through a farmers field, spooky wood and opens out onto a lovely well kept park, and I think I have only touched on a fraction. Will definitely be returning, its so handy to visit friend in Sutton. Amazing kids playground and lovely landscaping. Just a word of warning...do not follow Sat Nav it will take you into the wrong end of Dean Lane and into a very narrow roadway, really a single lane track which is unfortunately two way!

Love this sight

Just love this sight. Staff work really hard to meet all possible needs & keep it not only clean and efficient but very beautiful. It's really in nature but accessible to so much in the south. Can't praise Alderstead enough. Huge thumbs up & thanks.

Very nice site but disappointed with inflexibility

We thought this site was excellent. The site is clean, well kept and pitches have plenty of space. However we were very disappointed with the inflexibility on arrival. We arrived at 8:10 on the Friday night (10 minutes late) and despite letting them know that we would be slightly late we were forced into the late arrivals area. This meant that we couldn't get onto our pitch until 8:30 the next morning, resulting in us being late for our planned activities on the Saturday. Other sites/clubs recognise that Friday nights are difficult after work. Others will give a little bit of flexibility on the Friday night going a long way to good customer service. We were delayed on the M25 (big surprise) and a little bit of flexibility would have made a huge difference to us. Come on Caravan Club get into the 21st Century and think customer service rather than 'jobs worth' rules!!
