We decided to stay there over the Christmas period for 5 days, a trial expecting it to be mainly empty. How surprised we were to see lots of other caravans with their Christmas fairy lights doing the same as us. We found it quiet, friendly and a pleasure to stay there. Other caravaners all spoke and the wardens were very helpful as we had forgotten our mains cable and they got us a replacement. We are thinking of doing the same thing again this year.
Potentially a nice site but spoilt by taking non members
We stayed here in November 2017. Whilst it is a Caravan Club Site it is open to non members and consequently it does not have the same atmosphere. The majority of residents were unfriendly and did not respond to a good morning/afternoon/evening, something we have never encountered on other Club Sites. As mentioned by other reviews the men’s toilets were disgusting first thing in the morning (not the fault of the wardens). We were pitched next to a family who were clearly from the Travelling fraternity. The husband left in his pick up just after 7am and returned after 10pm every day. Again, as mentioned by others there are many Caravans left and unattended on grass pitches away from service bollards which are clearly being stored. It is a large site surrounded by woodland so ideal for seclusion and nature but spoilt by the atmosphere created by some of its guests. To emphasise the point we were walking on the site road and a male Caravaner tipped his waste water onto the road in front of us. This was despite the fact that he was situated next to a Service point! We would not stay here again and will stick to sites which are exclusive to Club members in future.
Nice site - could be better
We chose this site because of how close it was to some friends we were visiting in the area.
Considering how close the site is to the main road it was surprisingly quiet. Easy to get to from the M25, but the main roads away from the site even out of peak times during the week are extremely busy. A large site although we found it looking a bit tired, but perhaps it's just that time of year.
There seemed to be a lot of caravans pitched up with no occupants and as commented on by other reviewers workers using the site as a base to stay. Not that it caused any problems.
The one thing that I found extremely disappointing was on the morning we came home the filthy state of every one of the gents toilets in the upper toilet block. How people can leave them in this state is beyond me. This is not a reflection on the wardens who I know clean the toilet block to a high standard.
A word of caution - Returning to the M25 requires you to turn right onto a very busy main road.
Other than that the site is well situated for travel into London and the many attractions around.
Would we use the site again - very unlikely.
Good location
A big site with spacious pitches. The new toilet block was closed while we were there which was dissapointing as the open block is in serious need of updating which we believe will start in November.
As previous reviewers comments on workers staying on site we had people doing this around us who could be up and about anytime after 6am banging about.
Clay pigeon shoot next to the site very noisy when being used one person I met was about to leave as the gunshot was driving his dog crazy fortunately did not bother our dog.
Do not attempt accessing the site from the A23 into Deanlane - you cannot pass anything coming the other way.
We attempted the walk from the site through the local woods after passing through the dog walk woods you come out onto the main road into Caterham - we were nearly killed by cars travelling to fast along this road - as we had our dog we gave up and went back
Although the site is in a good location doubt if we would return
Brilliant site, especially if you have a dog
Lovely site very friendly and helpful staff they say the hard standings are level, and yes they are, reversed van onto pitch lowered corner steadies, spirit level bubble bag in the centre WOW, never seen that before.
Also fantastic dog walk on site, a large woods with concrete paths all through it, never seen that before either. Although site is close to Mway it's surprisingly quiet.
Will be going there again wonderful site.
Good location for Theme Parks
Take heed of the directions in order to arrive safely and you will find this site ideally situated if you are a fan of theme parks, with LEGOLAND, Thorpe Park and Chessington all but a short drive away.
Great for children with 2x play parks (each suitable for different age groups).
Only thing we found missing was the TV aerial connection at the power points that are now common in most club sites (our caravan amplifier is broken so a connection would have been most welcome).
The site is big and roomy and we found the facilities clean and adequate and suitable for our needs as a family of 5 (2x adults and 3x young daughters aged 6, 7 and 9).
Nice ... but with caveats..
Firstly the staff on site were super, polite, helpful and friendly. The site is a big site and as with a previous review there did seem to be a number of people staying on site who were working and using it as a base rather than caravanning in its truest sense.
The toilet block was warm and the water was always hot, it was not the cleanest we have been in but not a real problem. The disappointing aspect was the internet which despite being described as bronze was in fact almost useless and certainly harked back to the days of slow dial up internet. EE reception whilst poor was a far better bet and I wasted a days fee on what was at best very poor.
Not sure that we will return as the access to the site is busy, we followed our sat-nav and came in from the wrong end (which is narrow and dangerous) - again not the sites fault, at least there is signage warning against turning right on exiting the site......

Somewhat Disappointing
On arrival nice site with lots of trees with good size pitches. Wardens friendly and allowed us to choose our pitch, which is always good. We chose a nice pitch in a quiet area with nice view. Then we had to use the top shower block. This is going to be renovated in November. Shower area so small no room to move and get dry comfortably. Mens toilets were disgustingly filthy from people not cleaning up after usage. I know that's not the wardens fault how dirty people can be, but they should be regularly checking cleaninesss and put up notices reminding people to clean up after usage of toilet. Sadly they had another toilet block that looked new but it was locked and could only be used for waste and laundry. Surely if you want people to come back you would show off a better shower block? Speaking with others on the site they felt the same. One visitor I spoke with was going to call head office on Monday to complain, so may be on the day we had to leave things improved? Not sure if we would re visit...
Good but Noisy
The location of this site is perfect for access to London and Kent, Surrey and Sussex Country side, also idea as stop over point for Ferries. Security access to site is excellent, however do not try and approach from end of M23 onto Dean Lane , follow Club directions. The amenities are good and kept in good clean condition however one block is looking a bit tired , but understand it is due to be updated very soon. If you are looking for peace and quiet site , this is not the place for you. It is used by a great number of working people who use it as a base leaving the minute the site security is unlocked at 7am , also there is a Clay pigeon shooting range close by , shotguns going off all times of day, also on flight path for Gatwick Airport.
Great! Dog owners must visit to walk in the woods, lovely.
Great site, read the other reviews, they are all pretty spot on but we didn't see any building works there and the site was tranquil at all times.
Dog owners take note, this site has a wonderful wooded walks through to local services , it has hard surface walkways through the woods as well, very odd, but a relic from the war?
Talking of which, how sad that the plane that crashed right next to the site in the war, killing the crew, is commemorated only by a damp old piece of A4 paper laminated. (No reflection on the site at all, but its the first thing you see if yo go for a walk in the woods) Come on Surrey, get a plaque at least. (Anyone spoken to the Surrey Royal Air Force Association about this, I am sure they can help to move it on).
The site is immaculate, and the wardens were working non-stop when we were there. Very friendly.
Do take notice of the entry route, don't come in the wrong way down the narrow bit of Deans Lane.
