Another excellent visit

Just had another 4night stay ,our 4th visit. The upper toilet block is well on the way to being finished. The pitches are well spaced and large. The toilet block was lovely and warm and spotlessly clean. There is an indoor washing up room which was useful as it was cold. The site is handy for visiting London from coulsdon south station only 30mins by train. Great for visiting the north downs. The wardens worked hard and were pleasant. I don't agree with the review saying it was getting run down. We saw no sign of this. We will definitely return.

Convenient location for a weekend break

We met friends here for a two night stay in mid March. It was a mid-way point so was very convenient. It is important to follow the directions given to the site and don't rely on Sat-nav. The staff were very welcoming and pleasant to deal with, extremely helpful in assigning us adjacent serviced pitches. The site was peaceful and is surrounded by good walking country. We enjoyed a walk across Alderstead Heath to Chaldon Church, then to Happy Valley and onto the Fox on Coulsdon Common pub; about a 4.5 miles round trip. On-site, one of the shower blocks was undergoing renovation, so there was a greater demand on the in-use facilities, nevertheless these were very clean and well maintained. Usual good standard of club facilities. We and our friends both said we will happily return here.

First Visit

As fairly new to motorhoming most of the sites we visit are the 'First Visit'. You definitely need to read the instructions on how to access the site as it is fairly tight (we have 8.6 metre unit). Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our reason to visit was to attend a pre-wedding function in the London Bridge area so train access was important. They have an arrangement with a local taxi firm for a fixed price trip to Coulsdon South. Some aircraft noise but nothing unexpected. One toilet block had been refurbished and one in progress. As we use our own facilities, unable to comment on showers etc but it seemed clean and well kept. Would visit again.

Stopover to visit RHS Wisley

Stayed here in March for a one night stop over to visit RHS Wisley. Wardens friendly and helpful - needed help with directions when leaving to get back on the M25, don't follow the SAT NAV in or out ( it states this in the camping / caravan book). Shower / toilet facilities clean and warm. Building work going on but not an issue to us. Dog walk from the site which is good. Not sure about some of the people staying on the site as stated in the previous reviews.

Sadly going down hill

We have stayed at this site several times in the past couple of years and sadly have seen the site deteriorating, firstly I must say that the staff do a fantastic job in difficult circumstances foisted on them by the club rules.previous visit in November we had travellers for neighbours and witnessed poor behaviour, spitting, shouting sounding horn to hurry up their friends in caravan etc all reported to warden, we chose to move to another pitch the next day which involved taking awning down as well. This visit we were apprehensive, we chose a pitch but soon realised we had Irish travellers on three sides,Warden came along out of the blue and advised us to move to another pitch, after getting on there we saw the caravan next door had split black bags at the rear spilling out nappies! Ladders on the roof of the van also backing onto the building site so we moved yet again onto a pitch that was ok but a long way from the amenities Several times an Irish registered car came fast against the one way system, reported to Warden, next day that car owner and all the Irish reg caravans left leaving rubbish all over the pitches, coincidence or asked to leave? Don't know, at present if you are near the top toilets you have a long alk to water and other amenities, the water taps spray water everywhere so you need a hose adapter for aquaroll filling,we are stuck with this site as it is the nearest by far for us visiting friends and going to football, I have raised the problem in the past regarding workers and vans on site but the regional director says the club are fine with it,the truth is that they make too much money from it to stop it so if you wonder why you cannot get a booking now you know, staff are great, site is lovely, it is the inhabitants that spoil it,some who never seem to move club have now suggested CLs nearby as alternative at least hopefully they insist on members only, don't really want alternative, sort the site out you will lose more and more member visits if this trend carries on

Great stay, dog walking and exceptionally friendly and helpful staff

The staff throughout our stay were exceptionally friendly and helpful, answering all our queries and giving useful advice eg dog walking ideas, how to get to the nearest village, nice simple instructions for finding the nearest supermarket etc. Dog walking for miles directly next to the site, our dogs loved it and so did we. If you have dogs this is brilliant, as you don't have to use your car to get to great walks. The shower and toilet facilities in the block that was open (the other was being renovated), were spotlessly clean and the showers were all piping hot. The renovation work did not interfere with us, and as there was prior warning on the description we were expecting this, maybe others who found it annoying may have over looked this information in error when they were booking. We can't really comment on whether the site is good for families, as our children have flown the nest, but the play area looked clean and tidy. We agree that there are not many water points, but the site is not huge, so getting water was not arduous for us, but others may find this more problematic. We will definitely be returning.

Shame about the new Toilet Block

The new Toilet Block is a disappointment, if was cold and made for an uncomfortable showering experience. There was water leaking form the wash hand basins in front of the door in the gents block which meant the floor was constantly flooded. It was very wet outside and all around the outside water was pooling. I would suggest the builders and called back pronto for snagging!

Nice but needs more

A nice clean site but severly lacking in lighting at night and with building work going on this could have been dangerous.also needs more water points so you don't have to keep filling up.

Be home by 11 PM

We are using this site as it is convenient to visit family. However on return at 11.45 the Barrier was locked So we proceeded towards the car park. Unfortunately the car park was full Mainly Commercial vans. On the roundabout by the barrier there were six lanes for late arrivals so we chose the narrowest and left the car there for the night in the morning when we went to collect the car we have a little notice put on the windscreen saying please do not park here is for late arrivals only It’s January and there were no late arrivals that night so I proceeded to park the car by our caravan But that wasn’t enough for the jobsworth warden who then proceeded to come and knock on our caravan to tell us off. After asking him where we should have parked as the car park was full he didn’t know just saying those lanes are only for late arrivals. So if you going to use this site Make sure your home by 11 or you’ll get locked out with nowhere to park
