Loved our stay

We originally only booked for 3 nights - but we were fortunate to be able to stay for 5! Pitches are allocated and allocations can be found on the notice board at the entrance. We were also greeted by Julie, who showed us where everything was as well as giving us a couple of maps of local walks. As we tend to cycle everywhere we didn't think we would use them, but after the pedal assist on my bike played up on day 3 we decided to stay and take in the walks. Bibury is both in easy walking and cycling distance and definitely worth a visit. Seeing the trout swimming in the river and then feeding them in the trout farm itself is certainly worth doing. The local pub - the Catherine Wheel - is a 15 minute walk from the CL. Highly recommend the Bibury trout on a bed of veg with potatoes. National cycle route 48 is only a couple of miles down the road. The village of Coln Rogers is lovely and interestingly a "Thankful Village". We only did 15 miles on our first day and our ride took us back to Bibury through the pretty village of Ablington. Once back in Bibury we continued up to the National Trust properties at "Arlington Row". Thankfully being October the tourists were minimal - but we suspect in the summer it is heaving! Next day we followed the NCR48 up to Northleach (of This Country fame) before heading off to Bourton on the Water and looped back via the "Rissingtons". It says something about the hills when the cycle back includes a 5+ mile stretch of downhill cycling! Chedworth Roman Villa is also a must see - again we decided to cycle there - but boy it was hard work. My pedal assist failed and I had to cycle most of it under my own steam - until I too gave up the ghost and walked up the last few hills. Walk-wise - we enjoyed the 6 mile circular route walk. It is worth veering off into the lovely village of Coln St Aldwyns. The cafe was worth the stop and especially the Portuguese tarts. The cafe also doubles as the post office and village store. The shorter walk the next day enabled us to explore Bibury more. Top tip - if visiting in the Autumn - take a container - nature's hedgerows are festooned with blackberries and sloes - especially on the first part of the walk heading to Ablington through the restricted bridleway on the shorter of the two walks. Julie also told us we could help ourselves to apples from the tree in the CL field. The CL itself is situated off a reasonably busy B road - during the day - but at night the road is extremely quiet. It is a mainly south facing site so in the summer we can imagine it is lovely sitting outside in the sunshine. When the sun was shining the trees that run at the back of the CL were always full of little birds. Unfortunately they remained hidden when the weather changed! Another real plus is the free Wi-Fi and the tap and ehu assigned to each pitch. We highly recommend this lovely CL with its good sized pitches.

One of our favourites

Visited this lovely CL again recently. Friendly welcome, relaxing set up, plenty of walks, interesting wildlife and no annoying dogs! If the weather had been better it would have been perfect...but it was October. Definitely be back in the Spring.

Highly recommended

We recently spent five nights at this lovely site and we will certainly return. We were made welcome by Peter who gave us an information sheet and two walks which he had printed out. We did both walks and several others from the site. The area is very pretty with lots of little villages to explore. The pitches are fully serviced and the site immaculate. It was obvious that the owners took great pride in the site and their effort really showed.

Caravanners from Surrey. Stevenson.

This was our first visit to Orchard Meadow and hopefully not our last. The site is VERY easy to find and the access is as good as we've seen. It is very central to touring the Cotswolds, and the lovely villages near by including Bibury are a lovely place to start with some very good pubs in walking distance for good food and a quiet drink. We would recommend this CL site to anybody on a touring break, the owners are very welcoming and they supply you with a map of the local area showing two nice walks, very considerate. Worth all five stars. Thankyou.

Fantastic little site

This is a fantastic little site that was perfect for our trip. Peter was really helpful and right from the start of the booking process and even met us personally on site to see if everything was okay. He also gave us some info on the local area and suggested some lovely walks. Bibury is within easy walking distance but would recommend pre booking a table if you intend to eat out. There is not much I can add to previous reviews other than agree with them that it is lovely and quiet and sooo much spaaace! Each site has its own Hookup and water tap. will definitely be returning. Thanks Peter

2nd Stay

We have previously stayed in the Orchard Lodge site and decided to try out the Meadow site. Site is easy to access from the B4425 and gateway is easy to swing in and out of. Gate is kept shut and there is CCTV. The pitches are massive, with room for unit, awning and vehicle and then there is still plenty of space between you and the next unit. The field slopes gently top to bottom which means you need levelling blocks on some of the pitches. Wi-Fi available, which we could pick up easily and had a decent speed. Fully serviced pitches, with tap/electric and grey into the hedge. Recycling is available. Lovely friendly welcome from Julie again and information on the site and surrounding area provided. The Meadow site is slightly noisier as you are next to the road, and some vehicles whip along there at quite a speed! You also pick up a bit more background noise from the B4425. However, we didn't find it an annoyance, and both roads quietened down into the evening/night. We did the recommended 3 mile walk and added a bit on from Bibury to come out on the junction by Hay Lane on the B4425 Our neighbours had done the 6 mile walk and said it was a good one too, especially if you stop for a pub lunch. There are lots of paths in the area, so plenty of choice. Online booking and BACS payment make the booking process very easy. Overall this and the Lodge are great sites and a credit to Julie & Peter. Being local to us we look forward to returning again in 2022.

Brilliant CL

What a great little CL this is. Wide spacious pitches, with electricity and water on each pitch. It is on the roadside but it is a quiet country road, so there are a few tractors running up and down, but it never bothered us at all. Friendly welcoming owners, who are there when you need them, but not obtrusive. There is wifi to the pitches, but it does come and go at times - but hey its free, which is more than can be said for caravan club sites!!! Great area for exploring Southern Cotswolds, and in easy walking distance to the Catherine Wheel pub in Bibury. Would heartily recommend.

Brilliant site

We stayed at this site for two weeks. It is very well kept, and the site owners are friendly and helpful. We had fully serviced pitches and there was lots of walking and lovely Cotswold villages to visit. We will certainly visit again. Highly recommended.

An Excellent Cl, Perfect for The Cotswolds.

A lovely CL site. Communication with Peter during booking was very easy. The directions to find it are spot on and access is easy for caravans. Peter provided a friendly welcome and gave good info on local walks, pubs & restaurants. The pitches were huge, each has it's own tap and electric hook up point. The pitches and field were freshly mown and immaculately kept. It is very well placed for walks into Bibury and surrounding villages in a lovely, peaceful spot. Definitely one we will return to.

A good stop over but would visit again

Well serviced pitches and nicely spaced out. All the information you need is given on the notice board as you enter the CL. We arrived late but as the latest check in was 10pm this was fine. Although this was a stop over we will be back as Bibury looked beautiful - although very busy. Met the owner who was very friendly :)
