Great little CL 10mins walk into Hay. Only spent 1 night here but could easily have spent longer. Very quiet and peaceful. Met by Pete the Greet top man gave us loads of infi on the town.
It's a super CL
Another lovely 2 night stay at Dark Orchard.
It's what a CL should be lush green grass and a babbling Brooke running around it !
Would highly recommend 👌 ì
Lovely peaceful site
We spent 2 nights here in early May. It is a very peaceful site with plenty of room between outfits
It is mostly mown but with areas of rewilding ,which was lovely to see.
Hay was a short walk away with plenty of shops and eateries. I would definitely recommend staying here if visiting the area.
After heavy rain the ground did become soft.

Another tranquil gem found
Very welcoming and helpful owners. Perfect for varied shorts walks to an interesting town. Also as a base for walking/local touring. Lovely tranquil surroundings on the site. A labour of love for the family. Ideal for dogs, with genuine off-road dog walks within a hundred yards of the site entrance. Plenty of space on site.

So relaxing
The information provided on booking was very thoughtful and useful. Easy to find, relaxing surroundings and just a 3 minute walk to the river and less than 10 minutes to the centre of town. I was greeted by Peter on my arrival and enjoyed our 'chats' throughout my stay. Thursday being Market Day the town was buzzing. All that I required was on site, water and chemical disposal unit. Will definitely be returning, relaxing stay with everything within walking distance. A real gem of a site.

Lovely site
Booked two nights at the end of August.
Lovely site with lots of space. Lynda and Peter were very friendly. Hay on Wye is very close, as was a Co-op, and some lovely walks.
Only slight problem was the approach past the cottages, where cars were parked on both sides. One had to be moved, but the owner was not willing to move it too far, which made access difficult.
A single track leads into a lovely large field which is well screened from houses. There is only one tap and elsan point which unfortunately three units had camped close to, so driving to the tap was not possible.
Perhaps a tap near the information hut would be useful?, away from where people may park.
Otherwise had a lovely peaceful stay.
Just what was needed
Lovely two night stay so peaceful. Short bimble into Hay for shopping and an evening walk by the river. Met the owners very welcoming. Would we stay again absolutely loved the simplicity of the site.

Tranquil and Peaceful
Stayed here for 2 nights, what a beautiful and secluded site, with plenty of space for 5 units. Sitting outside our Motorhome in absolute tranquility, it’s hard to believe that Hay town is less than field away (as the crow flies). Really handy for a short stroll into town, with its many quirky book shops, plus others and cafes etc, or longer riverside walks along the wye. We were there for the Thursday which coincides with the weekly food market - some really nice produce to be had, well worth a trip into town for, but get there early as things go quickly such is the quality and popularity. Would recommend this site to all who want that peacefulness but on the doorstep of such a lovely and picturesque town. Lynda, the site owner is very welcoming, and her dad Peter, also very welcoming, is a hive of information on where to go and what to see - such a delightful place.
Hot hot hot
Lovely site & even managed to find some shade during the 2nd heatwave of this summer. An added bonus was a cooling swim in the Wye on our morning dog walk - we took towels & cozzi with us. Linda & Peter very welcoming hosts and are mines of local information. Loved the sound of the brook to soothe into sleep! Hope to be back before too long.
Beautiful peaceful CL, fantastic location.
We recently stayed for two nights trying our Basecamp2 out off grid for the first time. The first 50mtrs off the main road is interesting because of the narrowing on the lane, as others have pointed out. But we didn’t have a problem in our little Basecamp, and there were larger units than us on site.
‘Pete the greet’ - Lynda’s father was lovely. Lynda is equally nice and extremely helpful.
If you’re after a peaceful site, that’s tucked away and feels secure, if you don’t mind the challenge of the tight section on entry, you’ll absolutely love this CL. A couple of minutes walk from the centre of town, a couple of minutes walk to a reasonably sized CO-OP.
Really nicely spaced out because you can choose where you pitch.
Another Basecamp on site with us which was fab. All in all a perfect stay, we will definitely go back.
Thanks Lynda for being an excellent host.
