What a find

We booked on the Thursday as we realised that the following two weekends I was working and we both really needed a break in a quiet location. The site and the owners were absolutely to notch. We were welcomed by a family member as Ian was tied up and Helen helped us to our spot and we chose the lower field. Our daughter has been frightened of dogs but Helen was fantastic in taking Daisi Anne for a walk with Honey and she now cannot wait to go back. The location is perfect for those wishing to get away and the 'Dingle' walk was lovely to do even to see a Bird Hide for those wishing to find even more peace! We will be returning many times in the future even though we only live 40mins away it truly is home from home. Thanks

Fantastic

I have just returned home after 4 nights at Birch Hill as I wanted to try out my new longer van. I needed easy access which this site has. It's also well signed from the main road. There is plenty of room between vans- on hard standing or grass with lovely views. I was very pleased to have the free internet, as I had a problem getting my water pump to work. So after a call to Whale they directed me to U tube where I was shown how to Calibrate my IC unit- which was all Double Dutch to me up until then.!!! All sorted. We had running water. I would have no hesitation in recommending this site.

Recharges our batteries

We have visited Birch Hill before and with the beautiful tranquil location, a warm welcome and an immaculate site, this was the obvious choice for our first trip out after the winter. The site is well signposted and is easily accessed from a minor road out of Ellesmere. Ian and Janet did all in their power to make our visit an enjoyable one, providing a pack of information about local places to visit and/or eat out. Pocket maps of walks within easy reach of the house are available for a small charge. The far reaching views are a joy. It is so dark at night! We live on the edge of a small town, but the light pollution obscures the night sky. Here, we were able to get out the binoculars and look for constellations and enjoy a little satellite spotting. This would be a great place to come in August to see the Perseid shower! Children and dogs are welcome and the two Golden Retrievers, Honey and Amber are very friendly. The Wi-Fi works reliably and has a strong signal and so is incredibly useful. If you want a long or short break away, in beautiful surroundings, with the benefits of a small market town nearby, and an interesting industrial heritage on the doorstep, then you might find it to be just the place to recharge your batteries

Great location

We've just spent six nights here and would have loved to stay longer. We thought the welcome and briefing on arrival was an excellent idea. None of that wondering which pitch to take or all those other things we wonder about on CL sites.....Should we just park up? Should we knock on the door? Should we go and pay now? Etc etc.  The price of £12 per night is great value for money and the WiFi works a treat. The resident dogs are really friendly and our dogs didn't mind them at all. Just a word of warning... the older dog can unzip an awning so make sure you don't leave any dog food inside!  All in all a first class CL site.

Lovely site - looking forward to a return visit!

Easy access even for a large twin axle caravan, with numerous spacious pitches to choose from, all with 16 amp electricity. We discovered there was free WiFi which was an unexpected bonus – no problem picking up a signal. Lovely views and quiet – just right for a relaxing break. Local bakery in Ellesmere recommended as is Stan’s supermarket. Good to support local shops. Extremely pleasant owners and will certainly visit again.

Lovely weekend

We were looking for a quiet and peaceful site with nice views that welcomed children and dogs...and we found it! Friendly, helpful and informative welcome on arrival. Was not busy so we were able to stay till 4pm on the Sunday which was great.  One to go back to. Thank you.

Couldn't Ask For More

We really didn't want to leave this site & so we managed to stay an extra night more than we had planned. What can I say? Lovely owners, gorgeous views, peaceful, hard standings, dog friendly, great tv reception, immaculate grounds. We had stayed here previously about a year ago & really enjoyed our stay. However, the free wifi signal at that time was very weak & so we didn't use it. This time though, the owner has had range boosters fitted & the wifi signal is spot on being fast & reliable. At £12 a night all in, this site is extremely hard to beat & we can't wait to return!

A Gem of a site

Where do I start The site is easy to get to and easy to find (signposted from the main road) A warm welcome awaits you Pitches are well spaced out (not regimental row's) nice views of a green and pleasant land. You are encouraged to support the local shops which is no bad thing as the Bakery in Ellesmere is excellent. and Stan's (family run) Supermarket (about a 10min drive) will satisfy your needs and more. The site is dog friendly with the owners dogs roaming freely which I suppose If you don't like dogs could be a negative. Our dog Jake was a little put out because the puppy was so cute. Ellesmere is a good central base for exploring : Shropshire, North and central Wales, Chester and Cheshire, The Marches and much more. We stayed 10 nights in September 15, and yes we plan to return. Digital TV reception is excellent Mobile signal Limited (3 Network) Free wifi very week signal (But hey its free and you don't go caravanning to email the boss every 5min)

Ever smiling hospitality

From the minute of arrival until the time of departure I must report that our hosts were so very helpful when required and left us totally alone when help was not required. The welcome introduction set us up for our stay over Xmas with a pack of interesting brochures to help us enjoy our stay the like of which we had never had before. The trouble is in leaving a glowing response is that we may not get on when we return in the Summer; that said it would be wrong of us not to let our fellow members know what a brilliant site Birch Hill is.... Enjoy, you will not be disappointed!

Great C L site

We enjoyed our weeks stay very much on this immaculate site. Weather very good with lots of sunshine the whole week to cycle the beautiful quiet surrounding lanes. We stayed in the bottom field as it suited us better as more sheltered to try out our new awning also, we are not doggy people. Will make it a regular stay and recommend it and very much agree with all the positive comments from previous reviews. Pete & Chris Staffordshire Very much agree with most of the previous
