Very enjoyable stay on a CL in a wonderful setting.

Spent five days here in October 2018. Very warm welcome when we arrived. Lovely setting with great views. Everything very neat and tidy with good access. Owners provide a detailed info pack which we found very useful. We will certainly be back next time we are in this area.

Lovely CL in the Heart of Shropshire

We arrived in dreadful rain and high winds. Ian and Janet still welcomed us warmly despite the weather and took time to show us where we could pitch, even suggesting more sheltered spots to keep us out of the wind and offering the use of their garage space to put the tackle in that we would usually house in the awning (it was far too windy to put it up!). This CL is great, lovely views, loads of room, choice of pitches and a lovely dog walk in the Dingle. The owners have two golden retrievers, Honey and Amber, and they welcomed our two labs and had great fun playing together. Definitely a great site if you have dogs. There is an easy walk into Ellesmere but it was along a main road. We had two very good meals at the Cross Foxes at Erbistock (about 5 miles away). You need to book as it is always busy but the Sunday roast was amazing. Ian recommended a walk round Colemere which was great for the dogs, plenty of running around in the trees and swimming in the Mere. It was free to park here too which is a bonus. Ian and Janet have gone to great lengths to provide an excellent information pack which provides everything you could wish for. There is free wifi on site and lots to see and do in the area. All in all an excellent CL which we would definitely recommend and one that we will certainly visit again. Thanks Ian and Janet, keep up the good work. And thanks to Amber for keeping our two dogs occupied. Hope Honey recovers from her op soon. The Gorton’s

Will be back.

We arrived and were welcomed immediately by both the owner and his dogs. The wife hasn't been well so was a little frustrated at the nearly 30 minute welcome and chatter as she needed medication and a brew. Maybe site and area induction could be done once pitched as the owner has gone to considerable trouble to provide a great pack and is very enthusiastic about selling us Ellesmere and it's local area but my main and immediate concern was to get pitched up quickly so the wife could rest. On another day, the wife would have chatted for England and sincerely hopes she didn't come across rude or anti social. The site is great and as massive dog lovers, we just adored seeing the friendly Honey and Amber wander around mooching for a play, snaffle for treats or just keeping an eye. Our dog isn't particularly dog friendly so we had to be cautious when on site but never had an issue. The Dingle is fab for dog walk and our's made a b-line as he loves nothing more than sticks to carry and the quiet of the countryside. Easy walk to Ellesmere although along quite narrow pavement in places with fast traffic. Again, wife not being well meant she missed out this time but she has vowed to visit again. True darkness from this site meant clear sky at one point and have never seen so many stars and before one heavy shower, the wife caught site of a double rainbow and managed to get a photo. I took a picture of the same double rainbow from the Mere itself which the dog and I enjoyed walking around. No amount of pitches available, the owner advocates a policy of where you like and has plenty of electric points to accommodate that. We drove onto our pitch, other units were side ways on, or rear facing and widely spread so not on each others shoulders so to speak. A very relaxing site, adequate water and waste facilities for a CL. We will be back, we love to support people who go to so much trouble to ensure folk have a great time and the owners here certainly do there best. Thanks Birch Hill, see you again.

Excellent Site

We had an excellent 3 nights at Birch Hill Farm. We took advantage of Mr and Mrs Kelly's great map idea and enjoyed some really good walking directly from the site. The small town of Ellesmere is attractive, friendly and contains an excellent butchers. Of course we will return to this friendly, well run and tidy CL. Thank you for our holiday.

Another great stay

Just returned from 8 day stay at Birch Hill, as expected a warm welcome from owners, and their dogs. This has to be one of the best CL sites in the country, plenty of space, good for dogs, WIFI included in the price, and some great places to visit. All for £12 a night. We will of course be returning soon.

Perfection! Geronimo the Motorhome, Wilf, Willow and their owner...Jo

This CL is as close to my idea of perfection. A very large, well tended plot with fabulous views wherever you decide to pitch. The hosts were charming, informative and so welcoming. The site undulates, which adds to its charm and there are plenty of level plots to choose from. Indeed, one is spoilt for choice such is the thoughtful layout of this CL. The site is easily accessible and there are fabulous, level walks from the site into Ellesmere; a charming little town with a huge Mere and canals which can all be explored by foot. Motorhomes are well catered for both at the site and in the town, with free parking right next to the canal basin. The town is also a foodie heaven! The welcome pack provided by the hosts are full of ideas and suggestions on how to maximise your ideas for an interesting and enjoyable stay. I only wish I could have stayed longer! Dog owners are well catered for with 'The Dingle' for exercise as well as footpaths nearby. The family golden retrievers 'Honey' and 'Amber' were friendly with our 2 dogs willingly bringing and sharing their cuddly toys. I even got to see 'Amber's' 8 puppies...sweet! All in all, this CL has justly earned its rewards so far. I really cannot wait to return!

Simple beautiful

Only stayed one night as we are only on our 4th time out and still finding our feet ( and still working full time) but we are soooo coming back here ! It was everything we wanted and then some. Met by the owners parents ( as they were away),the site explained, and a fabulous welcome pack with suggested itinery given... if only we could have stayed longer we would certainly have made use. And dad speaks Welsh which suited ‘him indoors’ 😊. The site is huge and only a CL ! More hook up points than it can take, so space is amazing. 180 degrees of clear blue sky ( always helps). Water, grey waste and brown waste disposal ponts too. 16 amps and wifi. It was too hot to walk pooch in the day, so just had to sit looking over the beautiful English Countryside with a beer in hand, and we were treated to a Red Arrows fly past ... ( surely they didnt arrange that 😆) . After dinner went on a walk suggested by owners parents, easy to follow took a couple of hours and we didnt get lost. So much we didnt have time to see and yet we still loved every minute. Pooch especially liked the Dingle walk this morning before we packed up to leave. Just want to say thankyou and ‘da iawn’ to the owners.

Fabulous.....

What a lovely place to stay, peaceful, well organised, dog friendly, people friendly and plenty of room for all 5 caravans! A very well looked after CL. Great place to stay for all the surrounding attractions in Shropshire and Wales, all easy to get to with good road links. Loads of places to visit, local walks along the Mere and the canal too. Highly recommended 😀

Another wonderful stay!

Managed to stay longer this time on our return visit to Birch Hill - lovely site and enjoyed our stay again and friendly help from Ian much appreciated. Saw more of the local area this time with wonderful visits to Chirk and Powis NT sites plus a great walk to the castle ruins at Llangollen. We’ll be back again soon hopefully.
