Peaceful and tranquil

This was our first visit to Birch Hill, and what a lovely few days we had, greeted by the Major, who was informative and a joy to meet, plenty of space and was all kept in superb condition, very relaxing, and not to far from lots of places of interest, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we will be returning........

Lovely little site

Site is well signposted from the main road and access is very easy. Quiet site with large pitches and lots of space. The weather was atrocious when we stayed, rain, hail and snow but the very helpful owners provided us with duckboards to walk from the caravan to the car!!! Views are lovely I just wish we had better weather as this would be a lovely site to sit outside and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Would like to return as it is very close to the Mere and would not hesitate to recommend it.

Birch Hill

Easy access, well away from road, lovely countryside views. On arrival, comprehensive details regarding site, local attractions, places to visit and all emergency services. This was supported with an extremely good information pack, kept for stay duration. Site cat friendly ..ours was quite happy! Site very neat, clear recycling signage. Plenty places to visit in local area, nice walks along canals....even in the snow! Enjoyed our visit so much returned after two weeks.. it snowed again but that made the views even better. We will return..still plenty to explore.Friendly peaceful site, friendly dogs and the chickens to provide fresh eggs!

Birch Hill Farm

I can only endorse previous comments that the site was a pleasure to stay at. Easy booking on line comprehensive information received about the area which was welcome as we have nit stayed in the area before. Compassion shown for my disabled wife by the owners when selecting a pitch. The site was well indicated on the main road which was appreciated. Would not hesitate to stay at the site again and represents all that is good with a CL site well done

Definitely warrants a return visit soon!

Wonderful site with great choice of where to pitch - decisions, decisions. Lots to see in the area. Very lucky to have hot air balloons over us in the first night and beautiful sunsets every evening during our stay. Must go back again and visit all the places we didn't have time to fit in - great welcome pack with loads of useful information and tips of where to go.

Best CL we have visited for a long time.

Our stay this August at Birchills Farm CL was fabulous. Our hosts were brilliant and the setting magnificent. This site deserves to win the best in CL. The attention to detail in terms of information and welcome is the best I have ever seen. The pitches were enormous and with plenty of choice in terms of where the electrical hook ups were sited and grass kept short but lush. We will certainly visit again when in Shropshire. The CL is so well placed for exploring The Llangollen Canal and surrounding area which boasts some of the best views going. To explore the heritage sites of Thomas Telford's Aqueducts and Canal infrastructure, this CL proved the perfect pitch. Ellesmere is a delightful town well placed for exploring the beautiful County Shropshire and beyond into the welsh hills. Janet and Ian were super hosts and nothing was to much trouble. It was so obvious that being Motorhomers themselves they knew exactly what is required to make a first rate CL.

Excellent site

This is a lovely site, you are made most welcome, a talk on arrival was very helpful giving you a lot of information. The site we chose was near the house on a mesh covered with grass such a bonus after all the rain we have had. We parked our motorhome in Tesco s did a lovely walk by the canal, the following day we walked round the mere s. Good wifi. Will definitely stay again especially in autumn where the colours will be lovely, Trisha

So so peaceful

This site was very easy to find and the entrance is wide and a long tarmac drive. After a very thorough introduction and a booklet on what's what, emergency numbers and a huge bundle of leaflets, we pitched in the lower field just inside the entrance as it was the nearest to the water etc. Lovely and flat so didn't take much to level our van with plenty of space. We had good weather during our stay except for very heavy rain during the night on a few occasions and rain most of one day only. Very surprised how well drained the pitches are so it never got wet or muddy underfoot. Ian did say he had put good drainage in which showed he had. The Mere which isn't far away is a nice place to visit with its coffee shop and restaurant and we also enjoyed visiting the town itself with its shops and small indoor market once a week. We went to Chester as my husband's sister lives there and is a very interesting and amazing place to walk round and also Wrexham where we visited our nephew. Oswestry is bigger than we thought and we enjoyed and also the little town of Whitchurch where you must visit a cafe called The Little Tea Pot. Very quirky and eclectic where we enjoyed a light lunch. We had dinner once at the Red Lion in Ellesmere but didn't enjoy and Sunday lunch at the Trotting Mare just done the road from the site (take a right onto the main road of the site and about a mile or so on the left). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Birch Hill and would recommend it.

VERY NICE. WILL RETURN

Just spent 2 nights here. Very nice site. The owners were on holiday at the time so Mrs Kellys' parents were manning the fort. We had a nice welcome and were provided with 'welcome packs', listing local amenities and attractions. We were shown and had a choice of pitches. We chose the one nearest the house on the top field. Very peaceful. We will return as it is just over a hour away from home. Ideal for the local towns, as well as a few nice walks along the canals. The high lite of the weekend was a air balloon landing in the adjacent field. About 15 people on a jolly, stood in the balloon waiting for permission from the owners to be able to get out and onto their land. All good fun.

Holiday in a heatwave!

We spent a week at Birch Hill early in June 2017 in the middle of a heatwave - we pitched on the top most area where the breeze was welcome. Apart from seasonal noise from tractors harvesting in the adjacent field and a later visit by a manure spreading team the peace and quiet on the site and the views over the countryside were impressive. The Kelly family were welcoming and helpful - free Wifi was appreciated as was the Welcome pack of information - we did recycle as much as possible but would have liked the use of a "compost" bin for vegetable waste. It is a lovely site and we would recommend it as a quiet and pleasant place to stay.
