It was or last opportunity to caravan this year and with very short notice we were able to book a pitch on this lovely site. We were influenced by the previous reviews and we were not disappointed.
We had a lovely warm welcome from Janet and were given a welcome pack.
The site is in a lovely elevated position and we have some lovely photos of sunrises and sunsets as well as the early morning mists and frosts.
We lost 2 days because of the rain but it didn't put us off. Lovely day in Shrewsbury (17 miles away)and we used the Park & Ride at Harlescote to travel into the city, only costs £2.00 each or £1.00 each for concessions.
We will definitely return in the New Year when the weather is better to properly explore Ellesmere and Oswestry, the site and eggs are both excellent.
Charming
What a charming site from the time of arrival to our departure we were treated in a professional manor, we were allowed to choose our pitch and park on two our car on one and our unit on the other, very clean and well groomed site peaceful sleeps x 3 nights, Ian and Janet were lovely hosts, please try the fresh farm eggs available, very tasty they were eggslent!!!!!! The site only takes five units and is set in countryside surroundings but less that 1 mile from Ellsemere Town. Our visit was 12/13/14 September 2020 and we, my wife and I would highly recommend this site.
Nicely kept peaceful place
Lovely well kept peaceful site. Friendly welcome on arrival, good choice of pitch in well maintained surroundings. Just over a mile walk into local town, Ellesmere, with good local facilities, including shop's, pubs and eating places. Easy Access to local towns and tourism locations. Recommended.
Great CL
We spent a couple of nights here this week and found the site to be excellent. The proprietors are very welcoming and provide a very comprehensive welcome pack with detailed information on local attractions. We have added Birch Hill to our list of Old Favourites to visit when we venture that way
A lovely site for many reasons!
We arrived on site and were met by Ian who could not have been more helpful, we got the impression that nothing was too much trouble. Even though it's only a 5 van location there was a wide choice of pitches, some grass and at least five hard standing. Ian told us at great length about the area and provided an information pack that was accurate and comprehensive, he came with us to select our pitch pointing out the advantages and disadvantages of each. He has a couple of electric cables if you have forgotten yours or (as in our case) it is too short. They recycle waste extensively and pride themselves on being eco-friendly. Ian even pointed out to us the landmarks on the horizon, views from the top field are great and the surrounding countryside beautiful. The town of Ellesmere is a gem and the local shops (especially the bakers cum deli) were excellent and well worth visiting.
We had a very relaxed couple of days in beautiful surroundings and will definitely add it to our list of "must go agains"
excellent site
This is our second visit to this lovely site this year. Very peaceful, beautiful views. Very pleasant owners. Quite surprised to read previous review, as it appears we visited at about the same time. It is a site we will certainly visit again. I did find it difficult following the footpaths across the fields, only because the grass was so high as it was ready to be cut! Lovely new laid eggs for sale as well.
Disappointing for an award winning site.
Travel directions were very good and the entrance is wide making access from either directions easy. We arrived at the house and was met by the owner who provided us with a very good information pack, this contained a folder with site information, emergency contacts, eating places etc and also a number of information leaflets of places to visit. We didn't find him particularly friendly but it felt very formal.
The site is in two sections and there are plenty of available hookups as the previous owners were going to develop it as a larger site, therefore, with it now being a CL and the 5 van limit, there is plenty of room to space the vans out.
The first pitch we were going to needed more levelling blocks than we had and it would have been difficult to put the awning up because of the steep slope, so we went to the lower section where it was slightly more level.
Facilities were acceptable but could have done with some sort of lighting at night time.
The grass was short but there were a lot of cuttings left on the field which in the damp, obviously gets trodden everywhere.
They have a lovely golden retriever, Honey, who roams the site, which I have no problem with, but the fact that she roams means she does her toilet where she wanders and unfortunately I found one pile when I was near the water tap, late at night which needless to say got trodden back to the caravan along with the damp grass that was laying on the field but as it was dark near the water I wasn't aware of it. There was also another pile left behind our caravan and walking up to take the information book back on the evening before we left, there was another pile left on the grass on the way up the hill. We never saw the owner again throughout the week otherwise we would have brought it to his attention.
Not a site I would visit again but Ellesmere is a lovely village and there are plenty of places to visit from there.

Our favourite
What can i say... best site of our mini tour.
Booking on line is easy, sat nav takes you straight to the gate, arrive at the house to be warmly greeted ( especially by owners dogs !) and offered the best available/suitable pitch. ( This was our second visit and we chose the chicken pitch). About 1mile into beautiful Ellesmere.. which is an amazing place, a mere ( lake), canals and narrow boats.. simply awesome .. so much to see... we walked over 9 miles without a worry as its all flat.
Back to the extremely spacious site, there is a lovely doggie walk at the bottom of the field through a little dingle, water is available from many sources and grey waste is easy to dispose of, there is a brown waste disposal point too, and free wifi ! Tv reception perfect. . The owner even offered for us to stay later if we needed to as he had had a cancellation. Im sure we’ll be back for a third visit ... thankyou Major Kelly 😊

Very pleased with this site
Excellent communication from site including video of driving instructions to site. Warm welcome from owner. We were given our own satchel containing the most comprehensive information and places to visit info that we have ever seen. This included a day by day suggestion list of places to visit/have lunch/walk/market days etc etc.
2 pitching areas to choose from and plenty of room. North Shropshire is a lovely area and there are lots of places to visit.
Highly recommended.
Peaceful and tranquility
Arrived on Friday evening, raining and very wet but instantly felt relaxed by the wonderful views and peaceful surroundings.
The warden Ian made us feel very welcome and showed us around the site and we were able to choose our own pitch.
Hard standing pitches were a bonus for our motorhome after all the rain we’d had.
A very useful welcome pack made it easy to find our way around the area with just a 15 minute walk into ellesmere.
Will definitely be returning at some point, was just the lovely quiet break we needed.
Thank you
