Arrival times

just booked a few weeks at the blackpool south club site .But it now seems that they have altered the arrival time from 12 to 1 o-clock I can go along with that as its a very narrow lane outside so no room to queue with out causeing a traffic jam . My gripe (complaint) is that sites don,t enforce the leave time we have seen people in caravans leaving at 4pm at blackpool and believe it or not 2 leaving southport site at 6.30pm (caravans) you can,t tell if motorhomes are leaving or just nipping out so come on club sites lets have some rules everybody has to stick to in fairness to all members.

thanks, ET, I had heard of those arrangements....I wonder why we don't hear of any severe congestion issues at those sites?

obviously, something must be different (staffing, mindset?) to have implemented (and retained) a completely different (better?) system to the majority of other club sites.

im sure someone with far more experience of these sites might be able to put their finger on it.

Some sites have better or off the main road access, which can accommodate waiting caravans, or maybe the layout of the arrival area can allow more caravan to park up and wait.

Exactly.

How many Buddhists does it take to change a light bulb?

Only one, but it must really want to change...........

I think the following is closer to the CAMC position.

How many Strict Baptists does it take to change a light bulb?

Change? Change!

...but, correct me if I am wrong, I thought ET was saying that early van are allowed ON SITE not just parking in a convenient area...

these site have a much earlier, proper, arrival time.

my point was, why just these....? nothing to do with waiting places as the vans don't wait....they are admitted.....just at a much earlier time.

if these sites can do it, why not others?

do they also have an earlier departure time?...is there ever an overlap?

Taking the Edinburgh site, it is an interesting point. Is it to do with staffing levels? Out of curiosity I would like to know why a couple of sites within the network are differently timed for arrivals.

It says in the site info earliest arrival time 9:00. Perhaps given the large arrivals area, easy turning and convienient parking nearby, they are prepared to take the risk of not having a pitch immediately available and  having to have somebody waiting. After all you would have arrived, just not onto your pitch. Perhaps they find the incidence of this is low enough not to generally be an issue. You would have to ask the site.

What I do know having visited it several times, is the large arrivals area and ease of turning, plus the abundance of nearby parking. One, or all of these are often rare commodities at other sites we visit. Perhaps the reason not many  have the facility.

Depature time by the way is by 12:00, unless you have been granted an extension.

I am leaving this discussion  now , I have again been naive  in  thinking  you  ask questions with any interest  in the answer  when I should have known from our previous  discussions  it is a trawl  for snippets to use in a point scoring exercise.

Am off shortly and when we are driving along empty roads in the wide open spaces of Castile  under blue skies and sourunded by snow capped mountains I might possibly thank my lucky stars I am not doing my caravanning in a muddy field or parked by a white peg  but probably  wont

Well I'm truly sorry that you think I was "point scoring" David and I think that last sentence of yours  might just be a little point scoring of your own! My posts to you have been a continued but obviously vain attempt to explain that I was asking solely about UK Sites and pointing out that the problems raised by the OP were pretty much UK wide and not uniquely club site problems. I assume, because you rarely use UK Sites,  you felt unable to understand that point and so diverted the discussion to "over there".

So enjoy your touring wherever it takes place,  but maybe accept that some of us are discussing what happens "over here" at the present time. smile

But the pictures that have been posted on here from "over there" sites do not seem to have much in the way of anything but mud that vehicles are parked onwink
