CS you obviously need to start your climbing mountain routine again as boredom seems to have set in.
Had a grand day out, as Wallace once said. Walked up alongside the River Dove with MiL venturing across it on the stepping stones the retired to Ilam Hall for coffee and cake. Managed it in the dry including the stepping stones adventure. Afternoon we all took a stroll along the High Peak Trail for a while. Still no rain. Nipped into Ashbourne for some food shopping.
Hopefully off to see Arkwrights Mill tomorrow as MiL never seen it and wants to. There's a lovely wood nearby that is usually full of Bluebells and Wild Garlic at this time of year so we'll toddle down the canal and pay it a visit.

Woke up this morning to find we were in a very smoky atmosphere. It was the big grass fire on Marsden moor.
Then the wind changed later this morning and we could breath again
The police were saying it was started accidentally but now they’ve apparently found one of those big multiple firework thingies on the moor.
The fire was a mile long!

Posted on 26/04/2021 20:11 by TakethedogalongWe have stayed at The Brough Tammy, nice CL. I seem to recall the pitches being terraced, with the loo and shower down at the bottom of the Site? It’s a long time ago now though, but a lovely location.

Yes its still the same, good sized hs pitches, 3 of them tiered, one grass one at the top of the site and one that sits on its own on the left as you drive down. Toilet and shower still down the bottom, though currently not open. Views are great and very quiet.
As the weather was a bit dull today and showers forecast, we decided to go on a drive.
First drive through the forest area to Newton Stewart, then onto Kirkcubright, nice place. Then Castle Douglas. Stopped off on way for a picnic lunch, then mid afternoon for coffee and cake. Bit of shopping in CD (Wilkos) we don't have one.
Managed to miss the rain showers everywhere we went, arrived back in glorious sunshine and 10 mins later a heavy shower passed over us phew just made it.
WN the cottage sounds lovely.

Posted on 27/04/2021 16:21 by CornersteadyWhat happens to all the hair that has been cut off recently? Does it just get thrown out or is it recycled into wigs?
Posted on 27/04/2021 20:38
Really Corners, you should know what happens to the ABM offcuts ~~ as befits one of the RSPB's best , it's recycled in the Bird Shop { The avian version of Dunelm } The Buzzards were lined up, waving promissory notes they'd been given last November, demanding Hairy Duvets for the hatchlings

Glad you having a good time😁 Two Mills, one is now a shopping outlet, think that is the old Arkwright Mill. The other is being restored as a World Heritage Site, Cromford Mill. Cromford Canal walk has links with Florence Nightingale family I think. There’s a lovely CL called Splash Farm close by, we have used it a few times. Another Mill, still producing items adjacent, think it is called Lea Bridge.
Sounds like the Brough is much as we remember it Tammy. Very nice around there, we are overdue a return visit👍

Matlock's nice for a stroll around too, it all links up, we visited when we stayed at a CL in nearby Crich (the one next to the tram museum, had a good stay there.) Hope the WNs are enjoying their days out.
Well I can't believe I'm excited about being able to take bagged items to a charity shop, but I phoned up first and my bags fit their "allowance" so I can finally off load some of the things I've been clearing out and some "guilty" clothes I haven't worn much! More bags to come but that's the first lot...
Had my hair cut too. 🦚

I am getting giddy about this coming Friday.....my first haircut of a professional kind for six months!😁 Things are getting a bit desperate now.......
Just caught up with one of our vets on the gossip grapevine. He has split from his vet wife, both have long kept a good number of our pets in good health, and repaired broken bones, and sprains for us. Rather sad, but they always seemed like chalk and cheese together. Seems amicable though, and both are thriving. He is enjoying his early retirement, having sold the practice on, and his ex wife is now running her own purpose designed animal rehabilitation unit complete with swimming pool, hydrotherapy, laser treatment and acupuncture centre. She is a rather brilliant bone/arthritis specialist, have to credit her with giving us lots of help with our current pooch. He we have known from his first days as a vet, looking after our horse for many years.
