Welcome to the Caravan and Motorhome Club.

Ever since we came together as a group of outdoor enthusiasts 110 years ago, our Club has continued on a journey of discovery. It's time for us to make some changes for the better by redefining who we are to help you get the most of the great outdoors.

I’m sure you all have lots of questions, please post your feedback and queries in this thread.

What does our new logo mean? We created a video to explain how we created it:

Love the logo and love the new name .

We have been a member for many years and have always had excellent service on every site we have been on .

Thank you .

I just can't find anything practical or physical to support this promised brave new frontier. Jingoism at its best.

Could we expect any more from an organisation lead by an individual who belittled our club with the TV programme earlier last year? How professional.

Were becoming a joke I'm afraid.

The sites (generally), services and support staff are, imho doing a grand job for we the members ... despite our representatives on senior committee.

Slapping themselves on the back for promoting our club in a professional manner. I don't think so.

For me, the benefits still just about outweigh the cons, but it's getting extremely close now.

Just my opinion and rant over.

If all these members are going to jump ship ,it makes more pitches available for the rest of us cool

Rochelle does not have to believe it Nellie. Just the messenger

I don't think that's what Nellie suggested is it?

Three questions:

Do members feel there are more pressing things to spend our money on within our club than the huge cost of rebranding and a marketing spend?

Were motorhome owners somehow confused by the name Caravan Club and unaware they too could be members?

If this is such an obvious and necessary change why the big spend on expensive PR video shoots to try and take members on this "journey" of "evolution"?

Any member who regularly uses the sites, the website, tries to book a CL or ferries and overseas campsites or pays for unreliable and expensive wifi (as just a few examples) can see that this money could and should have been invested in ways that will genuinely improve our club.

The winners of this change are the marketing companies, the sign makers and the egos of those who have misjudged this so badly. I am all for change, just change that will make a genuine difference to those who will pay for that change. There is much to love about our club but much to put right too. The Logo and name are unlikely to have been the top two priorities of many members.

It's a name and a logo. Is it really worth getting het up about with talk of jumping ship? Surely it's the on site experience that counts for most?

But it will cost an awful lot of money, which might gut have been spent on the network, which is straining to cope at times.

Hi JVB,

The change in name and logo were based on your feedback and in consultation with your representatives on the Committee. Together, we’re embarking on a journey of investment in the future of our Club.

Posted on 21/02/2017 22:57

Could you break that down into anything factual please?

Having watched the video it seems to me that the whole thing is a committee ego trip.  Presumably it'll be OK for me to light a bonfire on site

I've come late to this discussion as we have been having more of the same thing over on facebook CT, but I gave up reading all the posts around no 250 of over 500, wow, what a lot of doom and gloom merchants, moaning about the spending of OUR money indeed all under £50 of it, really fed up with hearing how many think that small annual subscription is the key to the funding of this organisation. Yes it was 110 years ago but the 'Club' makes far more out of its business than just our subscriptions. As for the rebranding costing an absolute fortune, depends how much they actually paid for the design consultant. as for the signage, clothing, paperwork etc we ll that gets renewed fairly regularly anyway so they have to pay for more whatever is written on it. I'm looking forward to getting my 30yr sticker this year now and I really need a new sites book holder hope it is a nice dark red colour, glad I waited a bit for it laughing

Just for the record, my opinion of the logo is - great, no problem with the design, but like many others I would have liked a bit of green in there (with the dark red) as the tan colours are very autumnal and I think a forward looking company would have gone for a more spring-like palette.  Also perhaps in the short term 'formerly The Caravan Club of Great Britain'  in small print underneath would have been a good idea, just to keep trading on our reputation until everyone realises we are not a completely new outfit.

Now I know why they have extended the High season on some sites to help pay for this unnecessary waste of time, money and resources. How many signs etc will end up in landfill ?
