Welcome to the Caravan and Motorhome Club.

Ever since we came together as a group of outdoor enthusiasts 110 years ago, our Club has continued on a journey of discovery. It's time for us to make some changes for the better by redefining who we are to help you get the most of the great outdoors.

I’m sure you all have lots of questions, please post your feedback and queries in this thread.

What does our new logo mean? We created a video to explain how we created it:

Rochelle - I'm very relaxed about the rebranding as long as it doesn't impinge on my use of club sites when I want to.

So, just a yes or no answer will do - any truth in the earlier claim that "...motorhomes can reserve a specific pitch..."?

Posted on 21/02/2017 19:58

Hi Moulsey,

When managing pitches on site there are occasions when it is necessary for us to take into account weight, length and/or size of an outfit and this can apply to both caravans and motorhomes, as not all pitches can accommodate all types of outfits.

But when it comes to motorhomers being able to book specifically, no that's not strictly true.

Hi JVB,

The change in name and logo were based on your feedback and in consultation with your representatives on the Committee. Together, we’re embarking on a journey of investment in the future of our Club.

I don't see how this is based on feedback. I certainly wasn't consulted. This a very expensive rebrand. Have all the costs been calculated, what is the total cost to the club ?

To my mind the money could have been used in more effective ways to benefit all the members.

Three of the four 'values' mention the great outdoors and we are being called explorers now.

I don't think the ethos of this club is what I signed up to. It may have been mis-sold. frown

I liked it when supporting and championing the touring community were values.

Absolutely brilliant idea. I had a caravan for years but for the last few years we've Motorhomed. I was beginning to feel unloved in the Caravan Club but feel at home once more.

The main clubs were about Camping and Caravaning (according to their names), I was beginning to think I should join Motorhome Fun!

Looking forward to seeing far more articles about Motorhomes in the club mag.

How about more Motorhome-centric pitches? Reduced size at reduced prices as we normally turn up with just one vehicle, not two. We also usually only have a small roll out awning not a mega sized canvas bolt-on.

How about campaigning for the creation of Aires and Stellplatz like France and Germany have at sub 10 euros night? Perhaps an area at club sites could be set aside - no bookings, first come, first served?

Anyway - good luck with the change

Facebook announcement?

Live streaming?

Err? Don't do Facebook and I was at work when all this kicked off!

Some of you remember work?

I feel so insecure now! I don't like change, I've just bought a new caravan!!

Oh my god!! How will I adjust???

( But I have fallen deeply in love with the blonde lady in the new videos on YouTube! Total fox)

Oo! And ban block bookings! Please 😁

Thanks for that clarification Rochelle. I've no problem with sites being managed to provide suitable pitches for any outfit.

And to be clear to my many motorhoming friends, I'd be against pre-booking of specific pitches for caravanners too! Smiley smiley.

I don't use sites at all. I have all the facilities I need in my motorhome, so shower and toilet blocks are of no interest. I don't even need EHU as I have solar panels. We do stay on CLs a lot which is why i remain a member.

I have no feelings about the new logo but I'm glad to see the word 'motorhome' incorporated on the name. I do think the 'mission statement' is corporate bullshit and means nothing at all.

If the club really wants to be inclusive it will seriously consider the following improvements.

Members with motorhomes should be allowed to come onto any site to dump a toilet cassette, dump grey water and fill up with fresh water for a nominal charge. The C & CC allow this, so should this club.

For those motorhomes who do use sites, the service points on some of them need improvements, particularly we need drive-over drains for grey water disposal where we don't have to wrestle with a drain cover that is invariably stuck.

As part of this wonderful new mission, I want the club to be much more than a provider of sites, insurance and ferry tickets. I want it to be an advocate for all its members. Lobbying local authorities for instance to provide the equivalent of aires in the UK and tell councils that putting height barriers on car parks just discourages us from spending money in the town.

The club has ben stuck in the past for two long. If this change of branding also sees a change of attitudes then I welcome it.

When was the consultation?

Why were members not warned of the importance of today's annnouncement?

why were members not informed of the nature of any consultation?

why do I, as a member feel this announcement has been sprung on me. And forced on me without a selection.

This is the worst logo change since British Airways!!!  Anyone else remember Mrs Thatcher covering the tail of a model air plane & bending the ear of a B.A. manger?

Also what about the Centres, I trust HQ will be paying for New Flags, stationary etc.,  have rally plaques got to be bigger to get the new name on?   This really hasn't been thought through, please tell me its April 1st

So after 110 yrs our club? without ref to its members? has spent ,and will be spending in the future thousands of pounds of money that could be far better invested in sites to keep them open (Mildenhall now gone?)for an ego  trip to change the name of an Institution that is known world wideyell

Posted on 21/02/2017 20:17

Oh come on you miserable lot: what's the matter with you? Times change and so must organisations, in order to keep up, if not ahead, of the competition. Well done CMC (although, according to my  building brain, that means the Cement Marketing Company!)
