Welcome to the Caravan and Motorhome Club.

Ever since we came together as a group of outdoor enthusiasts 110 years ago, our Club has continued on a journey of discovery. It's time for us to make some changes for the better by redefining who we are to help you get the most of the great outdoors.

I’m sure you all have lots of questions, please post your feedback and queries in this thread.

What does our new logo mean? We created a video to explain how we created it:

I don't like the name, logo or reason for its introduction. There was nothing wrong with what we had. We don't need to attract more members, we can't get bookings on some sites now, we certainly don't need more members booking the limited spaces.

Utter rubbish from CC, every one knew what the caravan club was for,

history gone, forgotten, written off, Camping Club did this years ago still the Camping Club, and this club will still be the Caravan Club, complete waste of OUR money, bet our idiot chairman dreamed this up, at the end of the day we are all campers and to write off the CC logo is plain stupid.

Hi JVB,

The change in name and logo were based on your feedback and in consultation with your representatives on the Committee. Together, we’re embarking on a journey of investment in the future of our Club.

Nobody asked me! This is a complete and utter waste of money and by the looks of it a vanity project. All notices on every site will need to changed just after they have been done and frankly as a motorhomer it doesn't make the club any different to me at all. An expensive and pointless exercise.

Twobeards, you may be right, yes we welcome you but on the same conditions as the rest of us in the club, but when you start to receive advantages not given to the rest of us with caravans then it begins  to become unfair, and that is what has started a lot of the problems... After all we are all members of the same club and should have the same expectancies and rights,,,,,,,...SG

Hi

Reading all the replies to threads about Motorhome owners getting an advantage over Caravaners, I am starting to get confused.

We have caravanned with the Club for 25 years and have now owned a Motorhome for 5. We have always used Club sites. What have I been missing out on? We do not seem to get preferential treatment or get to reserve specific pitches when we book over the internet.

We always get a warm welcome from the Wardens and when walking round the site we are staying at, we get a friendly response to a Good Morning/Evening from other Club members. When we are not in our Motorhome we look like everyone else. Is someone getting confused about the little signs that a Motorhome user has to leave at their pitch when they go out for the day so that another Club member does not pitch up on the pitch that they have paid for?

We do not need a divide between Caravan owners and Motorhome owners. I think all the negative comments are distracting from the prime reason that the Club was set up for - being able to get away from the humdrum of general life.

What are the implications for Centres? Our Centre has just invested a large amount of money for our members benefit, having new banners produced, with the Caravan Club logo printed on them, (having taken advice from the club before we went ahead). If the Club had given us prior warning that this surprise was going to take place we would not have embarked on producing something that is now obsolete. This is a shameful lack of communication by East Grinstead House

Indeed Barry Thomas.  We are the same from a CL point of view.  I am writing to them tomorrow to express our views and concerns. Not sure what good it will do, but it is worth a try.  I suggest you do the same and perhaps send them the bill for the remedial works that will need doing.

Best of luck!

I see no reason for a divide between Motorhomers and caravanners. I think that the only time tha ta caravanner might be miffed (at the club, not at motorhomers) is when asked to use grass in wet weather as there is a motorhome due.

Hi Janhsmn,

It's the 'getting out and doing your own thing' - those are your experiences and your adventures, we want to improve the services we offer to help you, and the new generation of explorers, do that.

If you would like more information about our values, there's more information at www.camc.com/discover

Rochelle at the risk of labouring the point I will try one last time.

We have a new logo and name, deep joy.  But you still haven't said what specific things the club is going to do.  I asked you about what experiences and adventures meant.  You have given a non reply, stating that means my experiences and adventures and the club want to improve the services you offer to help me.  So in simple English what are the club going to put in place to improve the services you offer me.  It's a simple question which it seems cannot get an answer.  I suspect the answer is really nothing will change apart from the name.

You refer me to the website but having read it twice it doesn't give ant hard facts just airy fairy waffle.   Come on it's not a hard question, what tangible changes are you making to the club.

Nairda - you are absolutely right. For many years caravanners and motorhomes have enjoyed and been welcome to use club sites equally. To be honest, I don't think we really even notice what sort of unit pitches up next to us. It's a shame that this rebranding ( totally unnecessary in my opinion) has reintroduced the "us and them" comments that had become a thing of the past.

The addition of the word "motorhome" to the club name is surely not an issue as long as all members can continue to use sites on an equal basis.

We are disappointed at the changes made and the manner in which it has been done, the members were not consulted at all and why change a winning well known brand for a new unknown one. Further you now seem to be chasing after campers, are they to pitch on hardstanding as well? It's hard enough to get one now on popular sites if there is a increase in motor homes and campers numbers it will become impossible.

This is change for change sake and will not benefit whatsoever your core membership of caravans in any way.
