Welcome to the Caravan and Motorhome Club.

Ever since we came together as a group of outdoor enthusiasts 110 years ago, our Club has continued on a journey of discovery. It's time for us to make some changes for the better by redefining who we are to help you get the most of the great outdoors.

I’m sure you all have lots of questions, please post your feedback and queries in this thread.

What does our new logo mean? We created a video to explain how we created it:

To be fair, organisations don't ask customers prior to a rebrand. I rebranded my company last year, I didn't ask my customers if they were ok with this, I just did it.

Get real!

Yes you are correct.  This used to be a members club but we've move with the times.  It is now just a company I'm very much afraid.

I understand and have read some views on the discussion pages that some people think that running a CL is easy and money for old rope. It is not, especially if you do it well and give it your all!

Hi PF. I no longer use CLs. I used them a great deal when I had children. I always felt privileged to do so. I never underestimated the work involved nor the commitment. Well done that fella.

We tour using mainly club sites these days and move on every 5 days. Spend little time on site but still believe that CLs are important to the club and saddened that problems with the 'New Improved Club' with regard to its website have not been sorted after, what to me, seems an awful long time.

Thanks for your recognition EasyT - much appreciated.  Things have been messed up recently, granted but I do believe in giving people a chance.  However, when it is a large organisation that is involved and the fundamental basics of communication are ignored (website content and information for the customer etc) then they should loom seriously at what is happening from the top down,

Hi Janhsmn,

It's the 'getting out and doing your own thing' - those are your experiences and your adventures, we want to improve the services we offer to help you, and the new generation of explorers, do that.

What an absolute waste of effort and money - when there are so many other things that need attention - I wonder if anyone would care to share with us the costs of this in fees to the consultants, the cost of providing the new signage - and the labour for taking down and re-fitting?

Was this really the best use of site and membership fees?

I don't recall being consulted by any of the Executive Committee, who apparently represent the needs of the members, about what I want

The Club has just lost over 100 years of heritage which I was particularly proud of, similar to the AA and the RAC who still have the same name and thus heritage, despite developing their clubs to meet modern demands.

You don't change your name and logo to demonstrate your inclusiveness, it's how you act on behalf of your members that does.

This is another example of how the Club is out of touch, get some new, younger Executive Members as suggested earlier, there was nothing wrong with the name and the logo which have now been lost forever.

You can't change the name and still say you were founded in 1907!

Hold on, I've been out all afternoon so I may have missed this. Motorhomes can reserve specific pitches? Where did that come from? If it's correct I'm going to be one very unhappy caravanner!

Posted on 21/02/2017 19:51

I don't think this is correct Moulsey, or else the Club would have so many very unhappy caravanners!

Rochelle - I'm very relaxed about the rebranding as long as it doesn't impinge on my use of club sites when I want to.

So, just a yes or no answer will do - any truth in the earlier claim that "...motorhomes can reserve a specific pitch..."?

This change is just one part of an on-going update to position the Club for another century of successfully catering to our members’ changing needs.

The percentage of motorhome owners within the membership has been increasing year on year so we want to be inclusive and representative of our membership.

As for the logo, you can see more about why we changed it and what it means here: www.camc.com/discover

Er the whole point of a logo is that you don't have to explain it.

Much my view. If you have to explain your painting/image it has not achieved.
