Time to roll back to previous forum?

it  looks like CC is performing its 'user acceptance' testing of the new forum in the live environment, ie we are testing it (and pointing out the myriad faults) in full public gaze...

this is (or should be) very embarrassing for those concerned, as all this 'testing' (and that is whats being done) should have been completed in a parallel testing environment, and have had a group of 'real' users giving it a damn good stress test for a good while....

im afraid what we have in full view is not fit for purpose and i suggest the CC eats Humble Pie and reverts to the previous forum so that all this work on the new forum can be completed where it should always have been....in private....

attempting to fire fight is always difficult, especially where so many users are bombarding the IT team with so many faults.....repairing these in real time will be difficult and will put the team under more time pressure, time that can be measured by everyone on the forum.

do this in the test environment and roll it out again when its functionality is properly understood and there is a decent team of experienced users helping to test it and sign it off properly....

whichever decision the club makes, i wish them luck, but they have put themselves between a rock and a hard place.....

however, sometimes, we have to admit we got it wrong, big up and get it sorted.....in private.

Actually CY.....

There may well be 150 posts on this discussion, but many of them are the same people repeating the same points.

When you strip out this duplication, I count 25 members who support the proposal in the OP to roll back to the previous forum.

Quite interesting when you also consider that many of those 25 members also used to complain about that previous forum!!

I find the idea ridiculous that the club should abandon its new website because out of 350,000 families, representing 1 million members, 25 members are making repetitive grumbles on our forum.

Nope. Can't see the club doing that somehow!

So basically folks, according to the moderators, your views are of no interest to the CC and you are wasting your time expressing them.

Well thanks a lot.

Actually, this view does seem to be borne out by the fact that there was only one thread that was being responded to by the CC......and it has to be said that the answers didn't inspire confidence.......and then that one thread was closed.

I know the moderators have to 'toe the line' but really, even you must see that a pretty dire forum (in terms of operation) being replaced by an even worse one, is a pretty remarkable achievement, even for tthe CC IT staff.

Nice spin, but if you read my posts that's not what I said. Please stop mis-quoting me.

And Mods are not required to "toe the line" whatever that means? - however as members of the CC we too are allowed to express our views.

My views are clearly expressed above - and not as spun by you.

As confirmed by the Community Manager - issues pointed out by members have been noted.

My point as above was that to suggest rolling back to the previous forum on the basis of comments by 26 members is not really a tenable position.

I'm sure the Club will instead continue to develop the new website for the majority of members, taking into account the comments that have been made.

Do people really want to go back to the endless "blank page", "error on page" etc?

I don't.

OK, the new forum isn't perfect, what is, but I think it's better than the previous version.

😊😊😊

It looks like Bugs "liked" his own post on page 16  ,by accident obviously surprised

Checking to see if this was still an issue

But thank you for your interest, Huskydog
