Neat site

Probably the best toilet block you'll ever come across on a camp-site! Seems the designer had an eye for space and distribution with the big bonus being that the WC's flushed cleanly first time every time - no waiting around for the cistern to fill before having another go! Downside was the lack of hardstands, no plugs for the basins (?), bottle of beer at €5.80 (Lidle €1.70), and no veggie menu at the cafe. If those don't excite you and you don't mind the other campers ignoring you when you say guten morgen it's thoroughly recommended. One other bonus was that I came back with a shopping bag full of fresh walnuts (site is peppered with walnut trees) and as an early riser I got most of them after the (even earlier rising) Norwegian couple behind us left.

Great Site

Great site with excellent, clean & well maintained facilities. Plenty to do and see in the area whether you want to relax or be active. Ruedesheim and shops are an easy walk away. The Rhine-side path makes for a lovely walk/ cycle and there are pleasant views over the local vineyards. The local trains and boat services are frequent and punctual so you can get out & about very easily. Motorhome serviced pitches were good and you can choose from shaded to sunny locations. The sunny ones are nearer the local open air pool so there may be music during the day at weekends or holiday times. The pool complex  includes baby / toddler pool, shallow (1m deep) pool for non swimmers / water play and a pool for swimmers and was busy in the good weather with locals and visitors alike. The campsite bar / restaurant overlooking the Rhine provides good food and although the choice isn't large it's home cooked and plentiful. The shop also sells the local wines it serves so you can purchase your favourites. The site doesn't take credit cards but that is fairly common in Germany so not really a problem with a little planning (plenty of banks / cash points in town). We had a great family holiday but all ages and nationalities seemed to be having a good time when we were there.

highly recommended

This is a superb site, facilities are absolutely immaculate with beautifully tiled toilet/shower blocks, small but good shop on site with local shops within easy reach. We received a warm welcome from the owner and his son. Easy walk into centre of Rudesheim. We would happily return to this site in future and would recommend it highly.

Superb site, great location, friendly staff, lovely facilities.

On our first trip ever to Germany we took a punt on this site based on previous reviews. Wow, we were not disappointed. Even though we arrived quite late, we had a friendly greeting, by the owners son, who's English was impeccable. The owner then led us to a free area and gave us the choice of spots to pick, and we were lucky enough to get a spot backing onto the Rhine. The site isn't as big as you'd imagine and that's a good thing. The toilet and shower facilities are superb, very very clean, and incredibly modern. The site is almost completely level, has some good open spaces, but enough trees to provide some shade and lots of birds.  It's a mere ten minutes walk into Rudesheim which is a beautiful little town. But despite the small size it has lots going on, and lots of places to eat and drink. The site is ideally situated for train travel into Frankfurt, and there are many lovely towns and sites to visit within a 60-90 minute drive. We found all the other caravanners and campers to be very friendly and the staff were all very good too. The site has a small shop and a small restaurant which while a little limited is very handy. A great site, and we'd happily stay again any time.

First time in Germany

Once we found the site we were directed to a very good pitch which overlooked the water and harbour entrance. We found the site very relaxing as we were able to enjoy just being on site and observing the river activity. The site is extremely popular with both over night stays and longer - we were 3 weeks on site and did not regret a moment. The situation is ideal for walking into town and indeed to access shops for all needs. The owner and staff could not have been more helpful and our lack of German was not a hinderance on site. There were one or two things which could have been better, for example the grey water drain was at the entrance of the site, the alternative was using the chemical disposal point, not ideal lifiting a wastemaster. Although there were two amenity blocks only one contained showers. Having said that despite the busyness of the site, access to a shower was never difficult. A number of people we spoke to felt that the signage could have been better on arriving in Rudesheim. This was not helped by the road closure that was in place on the approach to the town. It would have been useful to have had more information about the use of the car ferry from Bingen. We did not use it on the way there but found it very easy to use for the return journey as we were able to explore during our time there. A worthwhile 13.50 euros for the crossing saved some miles.

Rudesheim

We stayed at this site during the first two weeks of August 2015.  Found the site facilities to be excellent and probably the best shower blocks we have used. A lovely stroll by the side of the Rhine takes you into Rudesheim with plenty to see and do, but if you don't like it busy go in the morning before the cruise ships arrive and its peaceful, even in August. Our only complaint was the crowding on site, every available space was taken up.  Tents had guide ropes under caravans and when we opened our windows they could almost touch the next caravan's windows if they were also open.  A little too close for safety we felt.  Although it was August we would rather pay a little more to have a bit more space, if only for the safety aspect. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Overall, we would recommend this site as it is very well placed for sight seeing around the Rhine area and we enjoyed our holiday very much.

August 2015

A very good site but it has no formally laid out pitches which some travellers may find disconcerting but we rather like it. The owner knows exactly where he wants you to pitch and seems to fit everybody in without fuss, he's very laid back!! Some how it all works. yes it can get crowded in high season so maybe if this bothers you it's something to bear in mind. The shower and toilet blocks have been completely refurbished since our last visit, the standard is superb! The site has an excellent location on the banks of the Rhine, the bar looks out over the river and serves a very acceptable cold beer and white wine it also serves food but we didn't try that. The town is in easy walking distance of the site along the banks of the Rhine. Lots of restaurants in the town to choose from. Try the Rudesheimer Coffee it is delicious do try it but alcoholic so be careful! There are plenty of supermarkets nearby so shopping is easy. As we arrived at the site there had been a fire at a nearby building, police had blocked the road to the site [ don't be tempted to go under the bridge to reach the site its too low go round by the Commercial centre] We were told to wait until Emergency Services had finished their clear up but the owner came looking for us and other vans he was expecting and lead us down a very narrow lane to the entrance! the Caravan Club does not recommend this route and ordinarily we wouldn't touch it with a bargepole but on this occasion it was necessary! We would definitely stay here again.

First Time Germany

We stayed here for six nights at the end of July beginning of August. It was our first visit to Germany. We travel as a middle aged couple who, due to work commitments, holiday during the school holidays. We found the location of the site and the nearby town of Rudesheim to be excellent. There was a lot of things to do in the town which was only a pleasant short stroll along the river bank from the site. The town is clearly a tourist destination as is the whole area and there are lots of restaurants, shops and attractions to keep you busy. We also visited Frankfurt (worth a visit) whilst there using the nearby train station. There are supermarkets and petrol stations just a couple of streets away from the site. There were a couple of adverse points re the campsite. As it was peak time the site was packed. There are no clearly defined pitches but rather loosely defined areas. Some of these are very close together - we were lucky as due to a tree we had a slightly bigger pitch. You get the impression that they pack in as many as possible. We needed two leads to reach the electric plug in and found that the polarity was reversed. The leads stretch across grass and are subject to traffic passing over them. The person on site did say he hoped to upgrade the electrics in the near future. There is no Wi-Fi on site. There is a nearby railway which passes through the town and is subject to considerable traffic both freight and passenger so there is some noise but you soon get used to it. On the plus side the toilets are modern and very good and despite the site being so busy coped well with the numbers. All in all a very good place to stay despite the adverse points so ideally if you can travel when its not full that would be the best option.

PEACEFUL STAY AT RUDESHEIM

We have travelled in Europe 3 times now and on our recent trip decided to explore the Rhein valley. The site at Rudesheim was very good indeed. A nice quiet and clean site and we enjoyed our stay for 6 nights. We found that during the busy July high season the caravans and motorhomes were packed into the site which gave a feeling of pitches being very close to one another. A little more space would have been better but this did not spoil our visit to Rudesheim. We recommend the site to anyone visiting the area and would visit again if we are back over in sunny Germany. Very good Campsite.

The toilet blocks are excellent they are very spacious modern and clean. The shop on site is small but as stated on previous reviews Aldi Etc are a short drive or walk away and they are so cheap (about £1.30 for a bottle of wine that costs £4 in a Aldi store in England). There is a small bar on site however we didn't use it as the town is so close to walk into where there are plenty bars/restaurants. There is a play park on site for the children and right next door is an open air public swimming pool with slide and huge grassed area for sunbathing which you can use for a small entry fee. There is much to see and do in the area and the ring tour with the cable car rides and short Rhine cruise is well worth it. My only niggle about the site is that there are no borders for the pitches and as such you do seem to be crammed in a bit. Having said that it wouldn't stop us going again we had a lovely time there.
