Fantastic staff

We had made a mistake in our booking and the staff went out of their way to help. Many thanks to them. The site is in a fantastic location - 10 minutes easy walk to Clifford'sTower and the Castle Museum. The shower block is spotless. The lockable gate at the side of the site leads to a lovely choice of shops, cafes, bakers and a couple of pubs - all within a five minute stroll.

Just a grumble

We have visited this site numerous times and the selling point is the location. For visiting York it can’t be beaten if you want to avoid the hassle and cost of getting into the centre. The site is good enough although crammed in to maximise number of outfits and is not conducive to really relaxation. Of all the sites we visit though this one has the most inconsistent implementation of rules by the warden teams (not just the current ones). We were disturbed today as my partner has his van parked in the proper place to the left of the caravan and the tow car is where the awning should be - which we haven’t put up due to weather. The van is only here because my partner got stuck behind a serious accident on the way home from work so had to meet me at the site instead of home as planned. The actual website says extra cars are allowed, but we have just had an off hand warden tells us this isn’t allowed. It wasn’t a secret either - the other warden yesterday said it was fine. Meanwhile there are windbreaks all over the place on other pitches (not allowed according to rules), children playing ball games (not allowed according to the rules), outfits left without people staying (not allowed according to the rules), and all apparently unchecked. I have no issue complying with rules at all, but if you are enforcing them, then let’s have consistency across the board.

Great being so close to York

Stayed here for 3 nights at the beginning of July. Lovely site close to York. Our pitch was right next to the toilet block which was handy. Having keys for the toilet block is not so handy when there is 3 of you. Codes are better just being able to go whenever without codes and keys would be even better. Found the staff not that friendly which was a shame maybe they were having a few off days but it would't put me off staying again as it was lovely just to park up and walk in to York. Also great place for cycling and running. Great idea having a key for the gate at the back to walk up to a lovely little street with some great shops. Don't use the Sat nav to find the site as we ended up down a street with nowhere to turn and my husband had to reverse all the way back up. Hopefully we will be back next year.

Lovely 5 nights stay.

Lovely well kept site. The wardens are most helpful, especially Denise, who managed to arrange us not having to change pitches half way through our stay. 10 minutes walk into York, park on your doorstep, River just outside front gates, and handy shops near by. The shower block was clean and hot water . We will definitely be returning in the near future. Thanks.

Rowantree

Stayed in our Moho 3 nights 15-17 July 2019 as usual site is immaculate and wardens are exceptional, we were on pitch 27 our choosing and my only niggle would it is next to bind, elsan, and water points which is great, however why members feel the need to empty their bins and fill water butts at 1130-1145 pm at night beggars belief! Three nights in a row this happened and I would assume caravaners, perhaps a small sign would work asking members to refrain from using late at night ,just a thought

Another Great Stay.

Looked on line and got few days away at short notice.Good choice of pitch, not fussed for few days but like to be level and not need ramp.Motorhome point not ideal as on slope and a bit tight to tap.River a bit high.I like to keep checking in case we need to get out quick !!! Water for washing up needs to be hotter, repeated comments in book but wardens hav'nt taken any notice.Toilet block could be warmer and usual stale smell. York busy but always worth a visit. Racing while we were there so pubs good for people watching. Nice lady with morning pasteries from Bishopthorpe road on site 8.45am,really good start to the day.

Lovely site in great location

We stayed here for 4 nights in early June & loved it. The site is quiet despite it's proximity to York, beautifully kept & very well run. The wardens were very friendly & helpful & had a great sense of humour. York City Centre is a 10 to 15 minute walk along the river, but if you walk the other way, it's like being in the country. There are local shops including great fish & chips a 5 minute walk away out of the back gate. Ideal for anyone wanting to visit York & not move their car or motorhome during their stay. The only slight criticism & this isn't the fault of the club is that the signs on the approach roads could be bigger & easier to see. Don't use a sat nav, our "special motorhome sat nav" sent us the wrong way!

Welcome Return

Our second visit to this wonderful site. Reading some of the other reviews make me disappointed at some folks tolerance levels. We were once again greeted by the brilliant wardens at the barrier. Everything necessary was explained briefly in a good humoured way. Our pitch was a choice already coned off because of the size of our van. Can't quite believe how much space there was (pitch 35). Very happy with the excellent facilities, spotless as before. Our time went too quickly and we are already missing being there. Although it is difficult to book the exact days that you want - be flexible, it's very worth it! Hopefully back again next year. (Should I have posted a negative review to put everyone off so that there's more space for me??). Thanks for a great stay.

PERFECT LOCATION - SHAME ABOUT INCONVENIENT SHOWER AND LOO AVAILABILITY

We visit this site numerous times every year. It's always busy and very nearly impossible to book a weekend stay. It is the only club site convenient for York City Centre in a Motorhome in my opinion. Perhaps this is why repeated requests from many club members for more convenient dishwashing, loo and shower block cleaning times are being ignored. I would now like to add mine to the number of frustrated members. The Gents is closed for 45 minutes from 10.15am and the Ladies from 10.45am. When we visited last week we arrived directly from another of our favourite club sites Coniston Park Coppice, where the loos and showers are all cleaned between 1pm and 2.30. So much more convenient for the campers. Most of us need to wash our pots, use the loos and have our showers in the mornings, before going out. Also, on leaving day check out time is 11.15 - It doesn't make for a very relaxing last morning.

Friendly staff, great Location

Stopped here for 3 days and from the minute we arrived we enjoyed our experience. Site very clean and greener than expected from the reviews. On arrival we were given excellent clear instruction and throughout our visit the staff were approachable and very friendly. We didn't use any of the onsite facilities but from what we could see it looked very clean. We enjoyed the shops that were accessible from the rear gate, plenty of coffee shops, bakers and a few bars. We enjoyed excellent beer and pizza @ Angel on the green. Cost of stay on the expensive side but with the location to the centre of York its well worth the extra, we were disappointed that there was a cost for the WiFi.
