Typical CC Site

Called here in January as Rowntree was still closed. It is a typical club site with excellent facilities, clean and tidy, and in a good location for trips out. Beware if you have no transport and want to walk the dogs as you are not allowed off the site with dogs, not on a lead or even carrying them, they must be inside a vehicle to travel on the access road which belongs to Horse Stud. Its a 15 minute walk along the road to a pub a Toby Jug. and a 10 minute car ride to the Monks Cross shopping centre, and park and ride, which we used to get us into York. Very easy to use and convenient easier than parking in York without the hassle of trying to find a car park and then wondering how many hours to put on the ticket. The Park and ride is free parking and the bus fare was £2.80 return. The only criticism i have is to do the diabolical excuse they have for WIFI not a problem if you don't need it but just to get my email was a total pain, they said they are trying to block heavy content usage like Facebook, streaming movies etc. which is a good thing, but even the clubs own web pages were taking 5 minutes plus just to load up, this is very basic web browsing, and is a total disaster. I paid for wifi for the full year and it is not fit for purpose. It is not just this site as we had just come from Bridlington and the wifi there was just the same. If the club can't supply a useable system then they should abandon it all together instead of upsetting club members by charging them for something that doesn't work. Imagine buying a motorhome, and finding out they had put a lawn mower engine in it, thats what the club is doing, but hey they have charged you for it anyway

Good for York and surrounding areas

Like others we had re-located here because of flooding at the city centre Rowntree Site. Site was very nicely kept and shower blocks etc lovely, warm and clean. Friendly helpful staff. Nice large pitches, some separated with hedging. Used Coastliner buses into York centre. Bus stop a pleasant 1.2 mile walk from the site (£3 return) They ran approx every 20 mins and last bus back was at 11.25pm so a late night out in York possible. Would recommend.

first caravan club experience

This was a new experience for us and Beechwood Grange were really helpful in taking over our booking from a flooded Rowntree park in the city centre. The facilities were excellent, clean and inviting. Well lit at night helping towards a feeling of security. The staff were very welcoming and gave us some well needed advice on site basics. There were regular buses to the city about half a mile walk away and these were the very frequent and comfortable coastliners. We would use this site again.

flat site with good park for children

The staff are friendly and helpful here. This park has the usual lovely shower facilities you expect with a caravan club site. A few pitches are on grass but most are hardstanding. A useful information hut and a few items for sale in the shop. Newspapers can be ordered for the following day on arrival. The park and ride into York is about 1 1/2 miles away which cannot be reached on foot as it is down a road without footpaths and no street lighting at night. There are some food cafes and shops (M&S, Next, John Lewis i think) here and also a large Sainsburys. The swimming pool with slides and wave machine can be seen from here too and its great fun!! The children loved the playpark and the large field would be great in the summer to play ball games. There is also a dog field. Dogs cannot be walked out of the site and up the lane back towards the motorway as this is farmland. overall, we would return to this site as the site is great and we love York.

NEW YEAR

we have stayed at this site before and always well looked after, we stayed over the new year and full marks for the wardens as they did a hog roast and drinks for charity, this was a good end to the year and a good start for the new year. "WELL DONE"

Ideal for Short Break

This was our first visit to this site, and would consider it again if we were to visit York in the future. The pitches were a good size and the facilities were very clean. Staff were very helpful. Would recommend this site for anyone looking for a short break to York.

Great site

Lovely well looked after site, wardens did a fantastic job. We stayed for the new year and the party they organised with a hog roast was a fabulous. Thank you for making the effort, much appreciated. Disappointing that our pitch had dog poo in 5 places but not a problem of the club but of a few members. We have children and I had to pick it up. Warden did come around and offered to pick it up but I had done it anyway (felt he shouldn't have to do it because of another selfish member). Great time had by all. Thank you

Lovely site, lovely wardens

We stay here a few times a year but always stay for new year. The site is always nice and quiet even when it's full. The wardens are really friendly, courteous and nothing is too much trouble for them. They are so helpful and caring. Even though there had been flooding in the surrounding area, the site wasn't too bad, patches of water here and there but nothing too bad. Thank you to the wardens for making our stay so enjoyable.see you soon
