3 nights in york

We had 3 nights here at the start of the season just to air out the caravan etc.  The weather was not good but the site was very clean and friendly staff. Parts of the site were water logged and dog walk inaccessible due to this. Site well signposted off of A64.  Nice Toby pub over the road where we had a good meal. Lots of road noise from A64 and railway line.  We made the mistake of pitching on the back which made the road noise even more excessive. Facilities good, the only problem being it was very cold in the showers in the afternoon.  The mornings they were fine. All in all a nice site. Would stay here again but choose our pitch more carefully and probably leave it till better weather. Good site for visiting york and surrounding area.

A Week At York Beechwood Grange

First time at this site and I have mixed feelings about it.

Pros: Lovely helpful wardens who work hard to keep the site and facilities clean and looking good. Site was open in Feb when most others were closed. The site is well laid out with decent sized pitches (mainly hard-standing) and the hedges and trees add interest and reduce the car park effect. Great shopping centre and park and ride close to the site at Monks cross (best to drive). Good central location for day trips to York, Eden Camp, Air Museum, Pickering and Ampleforth Abbey etc.

Cons: limited opportunity to walk direct from the site and the sometimes intrusive noise from the A64 which runs alongside of the site. Would we use this site again? Probably, just need to remember the earplugs Wink

Quiet, spacious and clean

As first time caravanners, we were very impressed with this site.  We would definitely visit again and stay longer than one night, which we did to test out our caravan.  We had the help of our friends, who recommended this site, who helped us with the technical aspects of caravanning.  The site also offered to help us with this, which was good to know.  Very friendly, quiet location and very clean.

First Visit to Beechwood Grange

Arrived here yesterday; Journey was very straight forward, A19 then A1237. Entrance to site is very easy (unlike lots of others I've visited. Staff seem very friendly, site is big and mainly hard standing with a park, run-free dog walk area and a boules pitch. Toby Carvery just down the road on way to Monks Cross Shopping Centre which is about 1.5 miles away. Lots of places to eat there and lots of shops including an Asda and Sainsbury's. Park and Ride is also there in to work which has motor home parking or you can get a taxi from Site to York for £9 (up to 4 sharing). Lots of info on site about things to do, places to eat and they've even got taxi share register. Seems a lovely site,

Semi-rural site with hany Park & Ride into York city centre

Nice flat site with easy access off the York rig road. Park & Ride is only 1 mile away with frequent service into the city centre. Day trips to Whitby, Scarborough and Bridlington are possibilities.

Beechwood grange York

Visited this site from 23.02.16 to 27.02.16 very clean and quiet, facilities exactly as expected for a C.C. site, clean and well maintained, staff very helpful and friendly went the extra distance to assist. Only problem was couldn't walk the dogs down the entrance drive, had to take them out in the car. Dog walk could do with drainage at top and right side of area. Overall an excellent site and will visit again for short breaks

York Beechwood Site.

Excellent site with friendly staff. Very handy for us as our son lives within 5 miles of the site. I understand this is the first year it has been open all year round, because of flooding at the Rowntree site. Hope it continues to stay open for the full year.

A very good experience...

This is a very good value for money site, at times when children are charged 1p per night. The facilities are good and the wardens extremely helpful too. This is a very quiet site positioned excellently for the A64 and York. We intend to return.

Other member's comment's

With reference to some other member's comments regarding Beechwood Grange.Having just spent a week there not once when I visited the shower block which was daily roughly at the same time 5.30-6.00pm for my shower did I or my husband find any of them not clean. As for it being dated well I dont know what to say about that just make a visit to specksavers.Park and ride if you had read the reviews prior to your visit you would know that it was a 3 min drive in your car.I suggest if you want to be very friendly with your close neighbours and dont want to use park and ride book earlier and stay on Rowntree Park. Overall the site was very quiet and clean lovely site wardens. The only negative comment I have is people not adearing to the 5mph signs it is a camping site not a race track.
