One of the best coastal Club sites.

This is a deceptively large caravan site because the separate zones are like secluded loops off a main access road within the site. From our pitch (85) we could only see 8 or 9 caravans/units even though the site was absolutely full, being the last week of Scottish school holidays! There was, however, very obvious presence of many children on bikes and scooters playing hide and seek around the site via the roads and paths, and too many racing much too fast on site roads (5mph???) But this site has the major advantage of its location - close proximity to the beautiful extended beach just 5 minutes from the caravan door, superb woodland walks with a children's play area, an easy walk to Dirleton  village with at least two good eating places, and North Berwick 2 to 3 miles away for supermarkets, shopping and of course the best Fish and Chips Shop for miles!  But at weekends N-B is very very busy!  Being on the east coast the site is usually always fresh and breezy and can be very windy quite often so peg your awning down well! Although there are lots of trees and shrubbery around the site, giving good separation and privacy, you would be very unlucky not to get line-of-site for your satellite dish (but terrestrial broadcast TV is quite well received here). Our dogs really enjoyed the variety of walks available daily and enjoyed the generous space for each pitch on site too. They regretted not being allowed to chase the thousands of rabbits cheekily munching grass all day around the site!  Everyone seemed to be having a good time: the old and the young, the visitors and the wardens, and the weather was actually fantastic that week which may have had something to do with it. The whole site was spotlessly clean and tidy and the facilities block was well kept - what more could one want? Maybe a few more days here?

Great stay

This site is one of the best we have been to. Toilet block was very clean, the showers worked as they should. There were enough showers to go round I never had to wait. The site has 130+ pitches but they are arranged in such a way that we felt we were on small secluded site. The bays were arranged like a table tennis racket with small roadways going to about 6-8 pitches. The water was close and the shower block was two minutes walk. The site was overall very clean and tidy. The staff were ALL very polite and helpful. The site shop had the basics. The weather was also good and that does help!! We will go again for sure. Thanks to all the staff for a great stay. David&Jane

Coastal Scotland & City

4 brilliant days mixing local life, Edinburgh fringe and touring cars at Knockhill an hour away. Great site with all the bunnies location within a ten minute walk from a lovely beach. 3 miles to North Berwick and trains to Edinburgh every hour and sometimes more frequently and late trains too for fringe followers. Will have to make it a week next year!!!! Staff helpful and friendly

Something for everyone

We visited for 2 long weekends in August 2016 as part of our stop over visiting the west of Scotland. We have also visited Yellowcraig the previous 2 years. Whilst on the site I mentioned that the site caters for all, beach, walking, shopping, history, bird watching, sailing and sometimes relaxing (sometimes). During our stay we walked, shopped and visited Edinburgh for both the festival and fringe using both the train direct and the park and ride a short drive away. The only downside we could fault is the washing facilities are beginning to show their age, but still clean and acceptable. We love this site and would like to thank wardens this year for going the extra mile to make our stay so special.

Amazing

We visited Yellowcraig in august of this year and absutly loved it. The staff are friendly, helpful and amazing with the children. The site is well cared for and the facilities are very clean. The beach is a short walk and a beautiful place for early morning strolls, rock pooling and family adventures. The surronding places are great for days out. We loved the castles, museums and nearby towns. My 4 year old loved this holiday.

Leave your mobile behind

We enjoyed our stay on this site - last here over 20 years ago. It's a pleasant walk to the beach - but do be aware that the sea water quality doesn't get the best marks. It's a nice ( if long) walk to North Berwick where you can get some excellent ice creams. There's a quirky layout to the site which does give it some individuality. The staff we met were all pleasant. Mobile phone reception though is dismal (a plus for some!) and, there's no on-site WiFi - so if you really, really, must be "connected" - this site probably isn't for you.

Not practical pitches!!!

Pitch 9 to small. As is pitch 11. They should not be pitches. Not practical. Caravan door opens onto the road on the site where cars and caravans drive passed. Not convenient for children or dogs. Lovely clean toilets. Lovely helpful staff. Would book again

First visit

On arrival the friendly warden told us to find a pitch and come and let him know where we pitched. This is the norm at CC sites, however, he did say that he was unsure which pitches were available as some people handn't returned even from the previous day. This problem should be addressed by the club as per another CC site the warden kept my membership card till we came back. We found finding the available pitches particularly difficult due to the strange and tight layout of the site. However we did eventually find a pitch and spent an enjoyable couple of days on and around the site. The beach is a particularly beautiful one. The layout of the site is not like a typical club site, hard standing is practically non existent and the service roads are narrow. The club needs to update this site and if it were it would be a fantastic place to spend time.

Yellowcraig - First weekend in August 2016

Yellowcraigs is an excellent site - good pitches, good facilities ( toilets, showers, bins, waste etc ). Very helpful and pleasant staff. Good to have a daily paper ordering service as well as morning rolls and other essentials. The only negatives are the lack of wifi and the very poor mobile signal strength. We are in our early sixties, but we have have elderly parents in their nineties and it is vital we can contact them 24/7 and they too may need to call us 24/7. Likewise we need to contact our married sons and their families. So my question is - what plans are there for wifi and improved mobile coverage ? Bill Gunn
