Let down by general unkempt scruffy appearance thanks to extension of No Mo May

I have used this site on several occasions at all times of the year and generally have found it excellent .. good clean facilities, handy location for London and M25, great staff etc. We have a dog and find the access to woods, bridleways and recently the large field and grounds of the Denham Grange Hotel very convenient and useful. It is generally a quiet site during the day ( quite a few units belong to people working away from home eg HS2 engineers and the like and tourists visiting London ). It is next to Denham Aerodrome and is overflown by helicopters and light aircraft at all times with associated noise and smells. We can ignore this ( though it is annoying at 5.30 am ) for the other conveniences... some people easily frustrated by such disturbances won't like it ! What has disappointed on our most recent visit is the general unkempt appearance of overgrown grass everywhere including the fingers between quite a few of the pitches. You could not sit or use the grassy areas either side or behind our pitch. I know the excuse from the Wardens and no doubt backed up by the Club will be 'it's Green Tourism' and supportive of the ' No Mow May' campaign, But come on .. it's nearly July ! There is one patch of grass that has been planted out well with wild flowers which provides an excellent display. The other uncut grassy areas are full of weeds and just look scruffy. I tried the electricity metering trial .. didn't like it ... a complete faff. I would have liked to given feedback but haven't been asked yet. Ending on a positive - the new site wide free WiFi service ( by BT ) is excellent and a great positive improvement.

Excellent site for visiting London

We stayed at Wyatts Covert after Christmas for a week for the New Year celebrations. Although it wasn’t an issue for us, I believe other May be bothered by the noise of the airfield next door. The wardens are great, friendly, approachable and always smiling. Maybe not so family friendly as it is a very small site with no park but excellent site for access to London with a bus that stops outside reception and takes you to the station and onto Uxbridge. Access to some footpaths are impinged with the HS2 works going on but really is an engineering feat of excellence. Highly recommend the Battle of Britain Bunker Tour and it is very reasonable as a half day out. We also ventured into Watford and played indoor Pub crazy golf at the Puttshack which I can highly recommend of a rainy afternoon or evening. All in all a lovely stay and we would definitely return

Excellent site with good facilities and easy access to Uxbridge and London

Very good site, they are a few buses each day to Denham station and Uxbridge which run from the site but no buses from early afternoon. It is a 30 minute walk to Denham station. If you turn left when you have passed the aerodrome there is pavement all the way to the station with regular trains to Marleybone station.

Absolutely great wardens

Katie and Ash have been the best wardens I’ve met. I have disability’s which make visits to sites daunting sometimes as I do have some barriers in my every day life. Katie took time to explain to me where all was and has always been there to provide a smile. My carer comes and looks after me as I cannot afford to bring them for my whole stay so they have to come in the day and leave after preparing my meal and help getting me ready for bed time. This is my only negative about the club itself. Somebody who is disabled with a full Time carer has to pay for two adults at the same rate as a non disabled person. This is a huge barrier for disabled people and with my experiences of discrimination through out my work life I know about direct and indirect discrimination pretty well and this is direct discrimination. Treating everyone the same is discrimination as not all people are the same. This I have addressed with the club as I won’t be returning and will cancel my membership if changes are no made. How can a club of this size not have anything to accommodate disabled people being able to have carer be there at a reduced cost or free like other organisations do, 1 full paying adult and a carer comes free. It appears it’s just money making from head office and who ever makes up the policy’s. I do look forward to hearing from the director about my concerns raised. It’s not pleasant having soiled yourself and then having lay there all night in the soiled bedding and clothes as I could not get to the showers, laundry until my carer attended the next day. Not good C&MC

NO GAS

I would have given this site 4 or 5 stars overall, as teh wardens were very plreasant and the site well maintained and tidy. However, there is NO GAS on this site which is not very helpful to members, neither is this mentioned in the handbook. Apparently teh wardens took this decision themselves and the club have just accepted it. With a new failed booking system and now NO GAS, what is going on with the club. So enoy the site, but just remember to turn up with full bottles of gas.

Lovely site in easy reach of London and many places of interest.

Stayed here because it was close to family and allowed grandchildren to have a sleepover. A clean and well laid and and maintained site. Received a warm welcome from Katie on reception who remained cheerful and helpful throughout our visit. Woodland walk adjacent to the site enjoyed by us and the grandchildren. Note- no play facilities for children. Some helicopter and other light aircraft traffic but not overly noisy and would not put me off staying here again. Short walk to the Crew Cafe at the aérodrome (5 minutes) - Open to the public offering breakfasts and light meals from 1000 to 1600. 15 minute easy walk on the flat to the Biggles Restaurant run by 2 Italian men. Comprehensive Mediterranean menu. Huge choice, great quality and very good value. Highly recommend this but ensure to book for lunch or dinner as very popular! Visited Denham old village which is very quaint with 3 lovely pubs close to each other and enjoyed a lovely lunch. Just 2 miles from the site.

Disappointing

This is a little gem of a place to stay, the location near to London and Heathrow airport is fantastic. It was a super easy booking in process and your pitch is allocated by staff. The staff were superb, very welcoming, friendly and informative. The site was immaculate and the 2 wardens obviously work very very hard to maintain this very high standard. We were booked in for a 3 night stay but at over £55 a night for 3 adults we quickly shortened our stay to 1 night. Also the behaviour of some members was very questionable, the two dogs belonging to one outfit were continuously off lead and running around the site, when the owners went out the dogs were left and even chased after the car as it left. There was a large amount of washing draped over fences, bushes etc. In the morning the Police were on site and after speaking to the wardens spoke to the occupants of this pitch, however after a short time left and the occupants remained. This is really not my expectations of what should happen on a club site.

Awesome site / Wardens

Such a pleasure to be back touring . Not been at WYATTS since 2019 …. Me and my wife Joanne love this site - it’s a great location for exploring and above all we love the fact it’s close to the Denham flying school ( great helicopter and light aircraft flying school 🚁✈️ ) PLEASE EXPECT AIRCRAFT NOISE ⚠️ HOWEVER it’s not too intrusive where you need to get your ear gear on 😂 ABOVE ALL ❤️… We’d like to thank lovely & warm welcoming WARDENS Sal and her husband 🤗… these guys are so unique in their approach and so welcoming , we’ll miss them so much as they mentioned they were leaving …. Such a privilege to have met them 🤗 Will return again … it’s one of our favorites and the flying lessons are great . Big ❤️ And all the Best to the wardens Sal and her hubby 👍🏼✅c .

Small site ideal for touring the area

First impressions, lovely little site, very quiet ...... until the irish travellers turned up !! to be fair to them, they pretty much kept themselves to themselves, the two families across the way from us arrived back at the site about 5ish were joined by a third family and sat outside chatting in this glorious weather, TILL MIDNIGHT !! not only did they talk and swear loudly there was 6 kids of varying ages screaming and shouting, a couple of the children were toddler age still in nappies running around, obviously the parents were too busy chatting to notice one little girls nappy was full and needed changing, the mother screamed at an older child to look after the younger ones, had a repeat performance the next day although they finished about 11.30pm, made Lorraine the warden aware but her hands seemed to be pretty much tied, we were invited to move which tbh would have been pointless because there were another couple of traveller families dotted around the site, they moved off site and the ambience around the site changed, we remarked about this to the warden, she advised there was a possibilty they would return, which they did two days later, one of the men drove a 22plate silver crew-van and also a 22plate motorhome which was now back on site, but I then observed him dragging a caravan in as well and no sooner had they pitched that he drove off again and returned dragging a 2nd caravan about 30-40 minutes later !! Not sure if thats in the rules.... anyway long story short, I won't stay there again because of the possibility of an irish traveller presence several of the members I spoke to said the same thing, in fact was of them was so unsettled by them that he was going to continue his extended stay at Henley site, I've stayed on other sites where there are travellers but the Irish ones are a breed apart, no consideration at all for anyone else

Comment from the Club

We are sorry to read you did not enjoy your stay. As an inclusive organisation, and bearing in mind the law on these matters, the Club do not discriminate against any particular individuals or groups and membership is open to all. With the size of membership that we enjoy, which helps fund the facilities everyone benefits from, diversity across our membership is inevitable. Any unwelcome behaviour from members or guests is always handled appropriately and where necessary, suitable follow up action is taken.
