Very Friendly Welcome

We used this site for just one night as it was a convenient place to stay on our journey.  I wasn’t sure what to expect but I was bowled over by the warmth of the welcome we given by the wardens.  There is a good dog walking path leading to woodland which starts directly outside the site.  The only downside is the road leading to the site is narrow.  We arrived from the south in darkness and had to stop several times to allow oncoming traffic to squeeze past.   Not a problem for us  as we live in a single track Devon Lane but in the morning we turned right outside the site and drove north and found the road in very bad condition with one or two wheel swallowing potholes.  In summary a very friendly little site in a good location which we must visit again sometime as it has more to offer than just a transit stop.

So good I am back again for a couple of weeks.

The site is immaculate and the toilets/shower/washing facilities absolutely spotless. Aircraft (helicopters) noise was not a big issue for me but I can understand for some it would be. Easy access into central London by mainline or tube, close to the Grand Union Canal and Colne Valley Park, and Denham Village visit a must if you remember the old Agatha Christie films where a number were shot. The temporary wardens were helpful and friendly and as the site is outside the low emission zone and open all year, for my purposes it was as near perfect as I could hope for.

Ok for a weekend in winter.

Just spent two nights here. Wardens are lovely and very helpful, facilities are good but just too noisy for us and not the prettiest site. We don't mind some aircraft noise but the helicopters were constant on the Friday afternoon/evening. It would be fine if you plan to be out a lot, we did a nice walk to Denham Village. Saw John Mills former house and visited his grave but it wouldn't be the place if you wanted to sit outside on a summers day. There are other sites that we prefer. Sorry.

Visit in November 2015

We stayed at this site in November and found the wardens to be very friendly and helpful. The toilet blocks are very good and were spotless. The site is really well located for trips into London with one bus even stopping in the site car park and easy to catch trains from Denham. There was quite a lot of noise from helicopters coming and going from the nearby aerodrome although the Paris attack earlier in the week may have had something to do with that. Would definitely stay there again.

Noisy at times but usual high standard site

I agree with other reviews concerning the noise issue, mainly due to helicopter engines but there are so many plus points. The location is great for visiting London with 3 of us adults buying 'go anywhere in London' rail tickets at nearby Denham Green rail station for £9 each (3 for 2 offer). We parked at the same station after 10am which was just £3.50 (£6 before 10am) which was valid until 2am. The 2 site managers have only been in charge for a week or 2 could not have been more helpful. We ran out of milk and they were sold out so they donated their own part-consumed bottle at no cost which was a lovely gesture. The site was immaculate, the toilet block was like new and the pitches were a good size. I was just grateful that the noise issue didn't continue through the night. Make sure that the Sat Nav takes you along Denham Green Lane en route to the site. It may instead try to take you along a poor quality narrow single track road which is best avoided.

Such a shame

We last visited the site about 5 years ago and do not remember hearing the helicopters at all, how things have changed. From about 8 in the morning until late at night the engine noise is intrusive. It isn't so bad during the day but late afternoon and early evening it is impossible to hear the TV or radio. One night there was noise at 8pm and 11pm. This is a shame because everything else about the site fits our requirements perfectly.  We had booked to go back there next month but have changed the booking to another site.

Disappointing stay

We arrived on Wednesday 14th at midday, the noise from helicopters very loud as testing and flying going on, no real problem as daytime. That night despite a strong lock, our expensive bike stolen, also neighbours expensive locked bike taken. Wardens very helpful and police contacted. Police visited us next day to take details and very surprisingly they were able to return the bike the following day as it had been dumped in a layby. Luckily I had put chain through the front wheel so thieves were unable to wheel it away and needed to carry the bike, I don't think we would have got it back otherwise. Hats off to Police service for very efficient help as we were leaving early next morning. Also disappointing that the last bus returns from Uxbridge to Denham at 2.15pm so a taxi needs to be taken from Uxbridge (cost approx. £15). Tried phoning to get a taxi from Denham station but 3 firms refused as too busy (7pm), its a long walk up that hill after a day in London. This site is not for us.

Visit on 12th and 13th November

This was our third visit. We enjoy this location has it has a good, inexpensive rail link into London. It is easy to get to the railway station as the local bus stops at the camp and at the road very near the station. There is an airfield nearby which is interesting if you are an aviation enthusiast. However, if you are not interest in aeroplanes and helicopter, this not the site for you. We will gladly return in the future.

First visit

We enjoyed our visit to this site. We were visiting family in the area so it was convenient for us. The site is very clean and tidy, the facilities are at the expected standard for club sites. The wardens are friendly and welcoming. Some noise is to be expected from the nearby aerodrome. We have dogs and there is an excellent wood next to the site for walking them. The site is situated on a bus route and is convenient for visiting London. We would use this site again.

Excellent site, ideal

Having stayed at many Caravan Club sites across the UK I suggest that this site is absolutely fit for purpose, i.e. visiting London and the surrounding area and as such is one of the best in the network. It is fairly small, compact but very well laid out, excellent facilities and spotless. The wardens Mr and Mrs Gillabrand are efficient, pleasant and very helpful, just what wardens should be like and the reception area decorated with their lovely plant tubs etc., is a reflection of the effort they put into the site. Yes it is near an aerodrome and there is aircraft noise at times but not at night and there is nothing much for children to do on site. Our only criticism would be the showers, strange as the toilets blocks are modern, yet the showers are a little small and limited in number. That said this is a top class caravan club site.
